Williams notches top ten finish at Midwest Regional for USI

The University of Southern Indiana men’s golf team finished 10th of 17 teams on Tuesday at the Midwest Regional, hosted by the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

USI had its best round as team on Monday where they shot a 296 which was sixth of out the 17 teams. The Eagles followed that up with a 312 in the third and final round which saw them fall to 10th as a team overall.

Sophomore Zach Williams (Mt.Vernon Illinois) carded two one-over-par 73s in the first and third rounds sandwiched by an even-par 72 in the second round to grab a top ten finish at +2. Williams’ second round was the low round for the Eagles individually.

Seniors Travis Bell (Madisonville, Kentucky) and Zach Breault (Bridgeport, Illinois) both shot 73, tying the second-best individual round for the Eagles, on their way to placing second and third for USI respectively.

Up next, the USI Men’s Golf team ventures south next week for the Don Morris Invitational hosted by Union University and held Oct. 14-15. The Eagles will tee-off on Monday in Jackson, Tennessee.
