Eagles fall to McKendree on the road, 0-3

The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team dropped its mid-week Great Lakes Valley Conference bout with McKendree University Tuesday night in three sets, 20-25, 19-25 and 23-25.

Senior outside hitter Lindsey Stose (Elkhart, Indiana) and senior middle hitter Elexis Coleman (Joliet, Illinois) led the Screaming Eagles at the net with 11 and eight kills, respectively, with Coleman adding five blocks.

Freshman right side hitter Katherine Koch (Belleville, Illinois) and freshman outside hitter Leah Anderson (Bloomington, Illinois) combined for another 16 kills and three blocks. Anderson also led the Eagles with 13 digs.

USI (8-9, 2-3 GLVC) inched closer to McKendree (7-9, 2-3 GLVC) with every set, going from just one tied score without a lead in the first frame, to nine ties and five lead changes in the third.

The Eagles jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the third set, but watched the Bearcats climb back to a 16-16 tie, leading to a back-and-forth set to the 25-23 third set final.

USI Volleyball returns to Evansville to host the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Thursday night.

After another GLVC contest at the Screaming Eagles Arena Saturday against Lindewood University, the Eagles will head to Indianapolis for the annual Midwest Region Crossover, starting on October 18.
