“READERS FORUM” MAY 26, 2019

We hope that today’s “READERS FORUM” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way.

HERE’S WHAT’S ON OUR MIND TODAY

We wonder where did the GAGE Board Of Directors get the money to pay for the $600,000 plus loss of our tax dollars during the 2009 Freedom Festival event?

WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND TODAY?

Todays “Readers’ Poll” question is: Are you disappointed that the Hydroplane Racing at Evansville HydroFest was abruptly canceled?

  1. If our local politicians, particularly Mayor Winnecke, were more like Trump we would have some transparency in our local government. Winnecke is a stealth liberal, as with all liberals they have to work in the shadows. It is common knowledge that liberals are beholden to their rich donors and unions. And gradually local conditions become intolerable. That said, Winnecke is probably the best this community has to offer, if a better leader came along Robinson would rally against her. Looks like it’s going to be a lively summer for 4th Ward liberals, the grim crime wave has already stated. Why can’t those liberals learn to get along with each other? When a neighborhood becomes predominately democrat crime slips in while good citizens sleep. We have people who make things happen and those who watch things happen, then there are liberal democrats who wonder what happen. Hillary even wrote a book about democrats, I think it was titled, “What Happen”.

  2. Why are you on the high horse for the EvansvilleEvents, Inc./Joe Notter Food Truck Festival at Bosse Field?
Gilda’s House is a good charity, but instead of pimpimg this for-profit, put-money-in-the-pocket-of-a-not-very-well-thought-of-promoter event with very few, if any, local food trucks, why aren’t you promoting the local Truckin’ with the Music Food Truck Festival on June 2?
Truckin’ with the Music takes place on June 2 on W. Franklin Street in front of the EVPL West Library and features local food trucks (the local food truck owners don’t want anything to do with the Bosse Field event promoter), is free of charge, and the monies raised support Chemo Buddies, a local cancer support charity.
You’ve hitched your horse to the wrong wagon.

        • Corrected my typos. Long day.

Links to Truckin’ to the Music Facebook page atta ched below.

          EvansvilleEvents, Inc. is a business
which puts on events such as the Taco Festival, the Slider Festival, the Stromboli Festival, the Donut Festival, the Wings Fest, and now the BBQ Festival and contest affilitated with what was to be the HydroFest.

  3. ‘EDITOR OF THE CCO “LETS FIX THAT” SERIES GEORGE FRANCIS LUMLEY PASSES’
    https://city-countyobserver.com/288033-2/

This is unseemly and should be corrected but likely won’t. George Lumley deserved better than that, at one time he made some of the most lucid posts of any concerning the city’s finances. When the city attack dogs went after him you knew he was right.

    ‘Let’s fix that’. Indeed.
