IS IT TRUE that something that has not yet been pointed out is the fact that not even one of the six members of the Evansville City Council who gathered together after the January 13, 2012 meeting of the City Council?…that not a one of the six City Council members has come forward to say the words that would turn this into a legal social gathering?…that the words we have not heard from even one of the gatherers are “NO ONE MENTIONED ANY CITY COUNCIL BUSINESS AT THE MAINGATE”?…that we have heard things like “I paid for my own drink”, “I left early and will never do this again”, and “I am not talking” but not a one of them including Mr. Lindsey has said the magic words of “NO ONE MENTIONED ANY CITY COUNCIL BUSINESS AT THE MAINGATE”?

IS IT TRUE that Mr. Lindsey has indeed come to his own defense in stating that “IT WAS NOT ALCOHOL IN MY CUP”, but clearly NOT ONE MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL HAS DEFENDED THE ALLEGATION THAT THEY WERE IN A BAR TALKING BUSINESS THAT WOULD MAKE THEM IN VIOLATION OF OPEN DOOR LAWS?…that the City County Observer solicits and invites statements from each and every one of the members of the City Council members who gathered together for a meeting after the meeting to submit their statement of this gathering an hundreds of other off site gatherings about just what the topics of conversation are and how on earth they can possibly spend 3 hours chit chatting without someone bringing up Evansville City Council business?…that until we see this in writing from the gatherers our skeptical nature leads us to conclude that “THEY DID IT THIS TIME AND HAVE BEEN DOING IT AS A MATTER OF HABIT FOR THE LAST EIGHT YEARS”?…that all six of you gatherers and a host of past gatherers have an opportunity to come forward and defend yourselves?…that to avail yourselves of that opportunity is as much as an admission of guilt?

IS IT TRUE that Mole #11 who has a nearly flawless track record for sharing accurate information tells us that it was Councilwoman Missy Mosby who made the complaint about Councilman Al Lindsey drinking alcohol to of all people Mayor Winnecke?…that Mole #11 also tells us that it was an incorrect assumption of some words that were whispered that set of the emotional response that has exposed this whole dust up?…that the Evansville City Council is not a place for the temper mental and the presumptive?…that the personality and demeanor required to think through complex situations for the betterment of the City of Evansville is a cognitive and deliberative person who will vote from the brain instead of the heart?…that another trait needed is a commitment to living a transparent life?…that it seems based on the whole MaingateGATE situation that the citizens of Evansville are in for 4 more years of kindergarten antics from our elected officials?

IS IT TRUE that Mole #11 also confirmed what we already knew and that is that the Monday night gatherings of Democrat City Council members at the Maingate Bar has been standard operating procedure for some time now?…that we are sure that much of the chatter is nothing more than middle school gossip but also are of the opinion that it is virtually impossible for such a group to gather so often and not even mention things like the smoking ordinance, the McCurdy, the Hotel non-project, Centennial Park, the dilapidated park system, Roberts Stadium, and the list goes on?…that no one is likely to have the discipline to adhere to a behavior standard that does not violate Open Door Laws and therefore we stand by our assertion that these meeting of a MAJORITY OF THE CITY COUNCIL in drinking establishment MUST STOP NOW?…that for the sake of the reputation of the governing body of this city please you democrats restrain yourselves from gathering in groups that constitute a majority?…we are looking like the deep south of 40 years ago again and it is not positive? JUST STOP IT!!!

IS IT TRUE that just as the City County Observer predicted that there is a mass of resignations coming from officers of the Vanderburgh County Democrat Central Committee?…that Evansville City Council President and Party Vice Chairman Connie Robinson was first to step up and submit her resignation closely followed by Chairman Mark Owen with his resignation that like Robinson’s was effective immediately?…that the next 20 hours will be quite interesting because the Mole Nation tells us that at least 4 more departures are coming whether by voluntary resignation or forced resignation?…that this is all happening because 8th District Democrat Chairman Anthony Long sent out a letter calling a meeting for 1:00 PM Friday for the purpose of seeking solutions to end the infighting, bickering, and bipolar behavior which the Vanderburgh County Democrats have been exhibiting for several years now?

IS IT TRUE that the City County Observer would like to thank the outgoing Democrats for engaging in enough antics to drive lots of traffic to this website?…that without Democrat tomfoolery our rise to be the most read news website in greater Evansville may have taken many years?…that we also thank and commend Anthony Long for calling a meeting that hopefully will result in a strong and rational Democrat Party in Evansville’s future?…that having as much bitterness and backbiting as has been come to be expected recently is not good for attracting good talent into the Democrat gene pool?…that if you think about it, it would really take a candidate that likes dirty politics and loves a good beating to even throw their hat into the ring?…that we hope to see the child’s play at the Evansville City Council end in 2016 if not before?

IS IT TRUE that the Board Member and Chairman of the Evansville Merit Commission might have a conflict of interest problem in hearing the Al Lindsey case?….that Tim Hubert is an active attorney with the Evansville law firm, ZIEMER, STAYMAN, WEITZEL AND SHOULDERS who is representing the City of Evansville Fire Department in this matter?…that the above firm is also the official law firm that represents the City of Evansville in all legal matters?

IS IT TRUE that we are waiting to hear if any other witnesses to the Democrat BoozeFest at the Maingate Bar have been asked for their opinion on what it is that Captain Al Lindsey was drinking on the night of January 23rd?…that including Al’s admission of drinking Mountain Dew that makes 4 different stories from this most esteemed and unimpaired group of unimpeachable witnesses?…that we wish that this could have been filmed for a competition entry to the “Three Stooges Film Festival”?…that it could be titled “What did Al Drink” and would be as hilarious as the “Who’s on First Routine from long ago?

IS IT TRUE that we have just learned that our friend Les Shively has not made the final cut to become a member of the Indiana Supreme Court?…that we congratulate Les on being on the list and wish him well with his law practice going forward?…that we would pay good money for Les to be on WGBF 1280 am tomorrow with Joe Wallace do discuss the circling of the drain of the Vanderburgh County Democrat Central Committee?…the term “round the bowl and down the hole” is a filling description of the last GATE that this cast of characters will use to make their exit?

IS IT TRUE that by a four to one margin the voters in the City County Observer readers poll are expressing the opinion that it is not appropriate or acceptable for a MAJORITY of the members of the Evansville City Council to gather offsite?…that even if they are talking about grandkids, basketball, and church as many people in Evansville do in social gatherings that a group of them that constitute a voting majority sitting together outside of the council chambers looks to regular people like dirty deeds are being done?…that it will look doubly bad if in any forthcoming vote the six members of the City Council who were gathered at the Maingate Bar on Monday night after the City Council meeting vote together as a block?…that at least on one particular sensitive issue the group of council members that was enjoying each other’s company last night are on the record with diametrically opposite opinions?…that in the case of at least one of the revelers that two opinions have come out of the same mouth so we will see which one shows up to vote?

IS IT TRUE that it has not yet been revealed which member of the City Council called the Office of Mayor Winnecke to tell on Councilman Lindsey for consuming alcohol?…that the CCO wonders why Mayor Winnecke as opposed to the President of the City Council or the Fire Chief was the yard duty of choice to tell on Councilman Lindsey?…that the last thing that is needed is for the Mayor’s Office to be the Sergeant at Arms for the City Council and Vice Versa?…that the one office that did not need to have any of these issues thrown into their lap was Mayor Winnecke’s office?

IS IT TRUE that the Right to Work bill is expected to pass the Indiana Senate and be presented to Governor Daniels for his signature before the Super Bowl?…that we do not want or need any disruptions in the street during the week of the Super Bowl over Right to Work that would reflect poorly on the State of Indiana?…that like this or not Right to Work is the wave of the future in the United States and that Indiana will be better off for leading the Midwest as opposed to lagging in adopting something that truly is inevitable?…that now that this passes into law we will all see that it will not cause immediate damage to workers wages and benefits?…that we shall also see that there will not be factories magically appearing in corn fields either?…that Right to Work is a tool that will allow economic developers across Indiana to compete for 100% of the projects that are out there to compete for as opposed to the roughly 65% that we have been able to bid on without Right to Work?…that the first targets will be expanding companies from Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and Kentucky all of which have not adopted Right to Work laws?

IS IT TRUE that the world’s largest gathering of Venture Capitalists with an eye to invest in clean, green, and renewable energy projects will be meeting for the next three days about 2 miles from where this is being written?…that the former publisher but frequent contributor to the City County Observer Joe Wallace will be representing the California Innovation Hub for Renewable Energy at this forum?…that the attendees represent well over $2 Billion of investment capital looking for a place to be deployed?…that there is at least one Indiana company under consideration by some of these firms?

IS IT TRUE that Evansville City Councilwoman Stephanie Brinkerhoff-Riley would like everyone to know that she paid for her drink with her own credit card and was not treated by whomever the rest of the table seems to have been treated by?…that since it was after the City Council meeting that the CCO does not care whether Councilwoman Riley was drinking milk, moon shine, or anything in between during her time at the gathering?

IS IT TRUE that Councilman Al Lindsey would like our readers to know that he paid a total of $7 cash for three soft drinks that he consumed before the gathering ended in unkind words between Councilman Lindsey and others?

IS IT TRUE that the CCO recognizes that City Council members need to get to know one another and that tables for two were made for such one on one social events?…that no matter how one tries to spin things when a majority of the City Council gathers at the same table for several hours in a sparsely filled drinking establishment that John Q. Public will always think that something nefarious is going on?…that is why OPEN DOOR LAWS were adopted?…that this tradition of Democrats gathering as a majority in a private bar needs to cease and it needs to cease now?…that it is up to the President of the City Council to assure that this tradition stops now even if the former President of the City Council did nothing about it?
