- The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an intoxicated habitual traffic violator after observing him drive over grave markers at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
- On Wednesday, March 08, 2017 at approximately 8:00 PM a sheriff’s deputy was parked in the Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Park cemetery on Saint George Road when she observed a blue 1994 Buick Century approach at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was traveling north on Hitch and Peters Road, but failed to stop for the stop sign at Saint George Road. The vehicle ramped over the intersection and entered the exit lane of the cemetery while still traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle skidded onto the cemetery lawn and began running over grave markers. The vehicle then accelerated, crashing through a hedge bush and completing a loop of approximately 400 yards.
The vehicle sped past the sheriff’s deputy and exited the cemetery. The deputy activated her flashing lights and sirens and pursued the vehicle east on Saint George Road. The vehicle fled for approximately a half a mile before stopping in a parking lot at the intersection of Ward Road. The driver of the vehicle, Mr. Matthieu Resseguie, was then taken into custody without incident.
Fortunately the numerous grave markers that the vehicle drove over were flush to the ground, so only the raised planters mounted to the stones were destroyed. The surfaces of at least six marker stones sustained damage as well as much of the cemetery landscaping.
Mr. Resseguie showed obvious signs of intoxication, but refused to submit to field sobriety tests nor did he consent to a chemical test. A check of Mr. Resseguie’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles driving status revealed that he is a Habitual Traffic Violator.
Mr. Resseguie was taken to an area medical treatment facility for a laceration he sustained to his face during the crash. Once cleared medically, he was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail.
ARRESTED:
Matthieu Wayne Resseguie (picture dated 12/2015), 35, of Evansville. Cemetery Mischief as a Level 6 Felony, Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated with Test Refusal as a Class A Misdemeanor, Resisting Law Enforcement as a Level 6 Felony, Operating while Habitual Traffic Violator as a Level 6 Felony, Operating without Insurance as a Class C Misdemeanor, Hit and Run / Leaving the Scene as a Class B Misdemeanor, Reckless Driving as a Class C Misdemeanor, Failure to Appear Warrant

After 28 Hours of Debate, Dr. Bucshon Votes to Advance the American Health Care ActÂ
 |
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Following nearly 28 hours of debate in the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Eighth District Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. voted to approve legislation as a part of the process to repeal Obamacare and replace it with patient-centered reforms that drive down costs and expand access to quality health care.
“We are on a rescue mission and if we don’t act now, families across the country will have nowhere to go as Obamacare continues in a death spiral,â€Â said Bucshon.  “The American Health Care Act repeals the big-government mandates and costly taxes in the law and replaces it with common-sense reforms that lower costs, expand access, and uphold critical patient protections like coverage for preexisting conditions.  “This is truly a historic opportunity to fulfill our promise to the American people and we are committed to a thoughtful, transparent process to ensure we get this right on behalf of patients across the country. Our hearings this week represent the first step in the process to begin a stable transition to a patient-centered health care system.† The American Health Care Act is undergoing a weeks-long, open and transparent process that includes the work of four separate House committees. This week, the legislation advanced through both the Energy and Commerce Committee, of which Dr. Bucshon is a member, and the Ways and Means Committee. |

Dr. Bucshon Participates in Legislative Hearing on Obamacare Repeal and Replace Bill
Starting now, Eighth District Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. participates in a Congressional hearing on legislation introduced this week to repeal Obamacare and replace it with patient-centered reforms that drive down costs and expand access to care.
The American Health Care Act was introduced in the House of Representatives this week and will be debated today in hearings held by the Energy and Commerce Committee, which Dr. Bucshon is a member of, and the Ways and Means Committee.
“Obamacare is failing by just about every measure. Out-of-pocket costs are skyrocketing for families and choices are being limited as insurers continue to drop out. If we don’t act now, the law will almost certainly collapse and leave patients across the country with nowhere to go. As a physician who spent my career caring for patients, I firmly believe that inaction would be irresponsible and immoral. So we’re on a rescue mission,â€Â said Bucshon.
“This week, we introduced our legislation, the American Health Care Act, to deliver relief to millions of Americans struggling under the Obamacare disaster. Our legislation helps drive down costs, expand access to quality, affordable care, and upholds critical patient protections like coverage for preexisting conditions. It ensures that no one will have the rug pulled out from under them, but also doesn’t send the IRS after patients who make the choice to not buy insurance.
“Today’s hearing is a step forward in this open, transparent process to get a final bill to President Trump’s desk. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House, the Senate, and the Trump Administration to deliver on our promise to repeal and replace Obamacare.â€
The hearing, which kicked off shortly after 10:30am ET, can be viewed live here:https://goo.gl/qOAvTv.

Winter Rules Expire March 15; Vectren Customers Urged To Evaluate Billing And Payment Options
Evansville, Ind. – As the end of the winter heating season approaches, Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana (Vectren) wants to remind customers that the regulatory moratorium, which prevents energy companies from disconnecting customers who meet low-income guidelines and have received federal and state utility heating assistance, will expire on Wednesday, March 15.
Customers who have received a disconnect notice or need bill payment assistance are urged to contact Vectren online at Vectren.com using the Live Chat feature or call 1-800-227-1376 to make payment arrangements and avoid potential disconnection.
“The heating season thus far – November through February – has been more than 20% warmer than normal and has helped minimize spikes in energy bills this winter,†said Brad Ellsworth, president of Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana – South. “Regardless, we know some customers may still be experiencing financial hardship or have found themselves behind on bill payments, and we want to remind them of the programs, resources and payment options in place to help manage costs.â€
Choose from the following free Vectren billing and payment options as well as energy efficiency programs:
Payment Arrangement:Â Customers who are having difficulty paying bills in full can request a payment arrangement to fulfill the obligation in smaller increments over a set period of time. Eligible customers can request a payment arrangement by calling 1-800-227-1376.
- Energy Assistance Program (EAP): State and federal utility assistance dollars are still available for income-eligible customers. Those that fall below 150 percent of federal poverty guidelines (about $36,450 for a family of four), should visit their local community action agency to sign up for EAP. Visit www.incap.org or call 1-800-382-9895 to locate the local community action agency.
- Universal Service Program:Â Natural gas customers who qualify for EAP will be automatically enrolled in the Universal Service Program (USP). The USP provides a discount on natural gas bills of eligible low-income customers from December through May, although discounts are not applied retroactively.
- Energy Efficiency Resources: Vectren has a wide offering of energy efficiency programs for customers, which can be found at www.vectren.com/saveenergy. Customers are also encouraged to apply for all residential (home ownership or rental) weatherization programs, including programs available through community action agencies.
Budget Bill customers are also reminded to review their bill statements for the actual balance. Because the late summer and fall months of 2016 were warmer than normal, electric air conditioning was used more, and that placed some Budget Bill customers behind. Vectren South Budget Bills are re-calculated in May 2017, and any outstanding balance will be included in the re-calculation. Please contact Vectren if you have any concerns about your actual balance and how that may affect your Budget Bill re-calculation this spring.
