Within the next hour, the riverboat will be moved from the riverfront to Evansville Marina to remove the boat’s smokestacks.
Tropicana officials have not given a statement about where the boat will be going, but some sources have told 44News that its headed south to New Orleans and it may become a tour boat.
The Tropicana riverboat has been a landmark in the community since December of 1995 and has served as a casino gaming vessel on the city’s riverfront. It closed permanently on October 16th to prepare for the new land-based casino, which opened on October 20th.

Brooks had a great weekend for the Purple AcesÂ
“Her improvement throughout these past weeks, along with her discipline and understanding of our system have helped her be more comfortable with her role and responsibilities,†Purple Aces head coach Manolo Concepcion said. “The biggest evolution of her game have been on developing good/effective habits that have impacted her consistency on the plays that happen the most in a game. The most exciting part is that we know she will continue to get better!â€
Brooks was on fire this weekend as she posted an unbelievable 6.83 digs per set in leading the Purple Aces to a 3-0 win over Southern Illinois and a great effort against Missouri State on Friday.
The first match of the weekend against MSU saw Brooks notch 21 digs against the undefeated Bears. She also had four assists in just three frames of work. Brooks was back at it against the Salukis as she tallied 20 more digs and six assists in another 3-set match.
With her strong play, Brooks improved her season dig average up to 4.66 per set, which ranks 8th in the MVC.
UE is back on the road this weekend with a pair of road contests in the state of Iowa at UNI on Friday and Drake on Saturday evening.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Chair of President Trump’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis, spoke today at Attorney General Curtis Hill’s Prescription Drug Abuse & Heroin Symposium.
The Governor delivered the symposium’s keynote address.
“To say that addiction is the number one public health crisis in America is an understatement,†Governor Christie said. “As a nation, we consume 85 percent of the world’s opioid pain killers. In fact, we are losing 142 people a day in our country as a result of an epidemic that is delivering a death toll equivalent to the U.S. enduring another 9-11 attack nearly every three weeks.â€
Governor Christie and Attorney General Hill also appeared together at a press conference following the Governor’s speech.
“As we focus daily in Indiana on fighting the drug crisis, we are part of a larger battle being waged all across the nation,†Attorney General Hill said. “We want to collaborate and cooperate with other states to the greatest extent possible. By learning from and supporting one another, we can develop more effective strategies. I appreciate Governor Christie visiting Indiana today to share his own important insights and message.â€
In its eighth year, the two-day symposium brings together professionals from multiple fields and disciplines who share a determination to fight prescription drug and heroin abuse. The symposium concludes Tuesday.
