End of the Sumer Play Daze Cookout
As the summer begins to wind down, so does Summer Play Daze. Evansville Department of Parks and Recreation will be closing the Summer Play Daze program with an end of the summer cookout at Akin Park on July 16th from 1 to 2pm.Â
Summer Play Daze took place every Tuesday and Thursday between 1 to 2pm at different Evansville Neighborhood Parks. At each Neighborhood Park, there were activities such as: dancing, arts and crafts, playing in sprinklers, playing with hula hoops, and much more for children between the ages of 5-14 years.Â
Program Director, Holly Schneider was excited to see the turn out for this program. “Our main goal was to give children an opportunity to come out and have fun this summer while the pools were closed. We hope this cookout will be a good send off before school starts back up.†Schneider said you can see additional activities at the cookout such as a foam machine and giveaways.Â
In addition, Schneider said that there will be an announcement within the next week about a new and exciting youth program.Â
Before the program ends, you can find Summer Play Daze at Tepe Park on July 14th from 1 to 2pm. To learn more about Summer Play Daze and other programming, please contact Schneider at 812-568-9340. Â

Senator Braun’s Weekly Update Of Terre Haute & Northwest Indiana Visits
Senator Braun is back on the road touring Indiana this week, below are highlights from his stops in Terre Haute and Northwest Indiana.Â

U.S. Sen. Mike Braun on Wednesday told several dozen business owners in LaPorte more COVID-19 financial relief from the federal government could be on the way.
The Republican senator said opinions among lawmakers on what should be contained in a fourth stimulus package vary widely, but said his priority is need, and firms overlooked by previous relief measures.
“I’m interested in those businesses that got left out,†he said.
Braun also said there is a chance for another stimulus package as long as it strictly provides help for financial struggles brought on by coronavirus.
“As long as we focus on errors and omissions and COVID-related stuff we might get something done,†he said.
Braun said an example of need is Melrose Fireworks in Kingsbury, which revealed a dramatic drop in its pyrotechnic shows because of all of the events with large gatherings being cancelled to try and limit the spread of COVID-19.
The Republican senator from downstate Jasper was invited to City Hall by Mayor Tom Dermody to hear about the struggles from local business owners and offer feedback on the additional help that might be on the way.
If there is another relief package, Braun said there’s a short window to get it done.

We sat down with Sen. Mike Braun Monday and got his thoughts on several hot topics across the country right now including reported Russian bounties on American soldiers, Vote-by-Mail, the Supreme Court’s Electoral College vote, the coronavirus and an update on his proposed Reforming Qualified Immunity Act.

Indiana U.S. Sen. Mike Braun says he will be in Jacksonville when his party meets to formally nominate Pres. Donald Trump for a second term.
In a Twitter post, Braun noted that Trump helped ensure a Republican majority in the Senate in 2018 — the year he defeated incumbent Joe Donnelly in a closely watched contest.
Braun ended his tweet with a hashtag to “Keep America Great.”

Right Jab And Middle Jab And Left Jab†July 12, 2020
Right Jab And Middle Jab And Left Jab†July 12, 2020
The majority of our “IS IT TRUE†columns are about local or state issues, so we have decided to give our more opinionated readers exclusive access to our newly created “LEFT JAB and Middle Jab and RIGHT JAB† column. They now have this post to exclusively discuss national or world issues that they feel passionate about.
We shall be posting the “LEFT JAB†AND “MIDDLE JAB†AND “RIGHT JABâ€Â several times a week.  Oh, “LEFT JAB†is a liberal view, “MIDDLE JAB†is the libertarian view and the “RIGHT JAB is representative of the more conservative views. Also, any reader who would like to react to the written comments in this column is free to do so.

Motorist Arrested After Firing A Handgun On Seven Hills Road
On Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 7:45 PM the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 4500 block of Seven Hills Road upon report of shots fired.
A 911 caller reported several shots being fired by a white male driving a white truck that left the area at a high rate of speed. Sheriff’s deputies later observed a vehicle and driver near Springfield Drive and Wimberg Road that matched a more detailed description that was later provided by a witness on Seven Hills Road.
The driver and sole occupant, Mr. Osborne Wright, was stopped, taken into custody and transported to the Sheriff`s Operations Center. A handgun was recovered from his vehicle along with ammunition of the same type as the shell casings recovered from Seven Hills Road. Wright later admitted to stopping on Seven Hills Road, pointing a handgun out the driver’s window and firing three shots into the ground. Wright explained that he fired the shots in order to “relieve stress”.
An investigation revealed no indication that Wright fired the handgun towards a person or structure. No one was injured as a result of Wright’s actions. Wright was arrested for possessing a handgun without a license, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and charged with several traffic infractions.
ARRESTED:
Osborne David Wright, 27, of Evansville. Possession of a Handgun without a License as a Class A Misdemeanor, Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon as a Level 6 Felony.
Presumption of Innocence Notice: The fact that a person has been arrested or charged with a crime is merely an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
