As the summer begins to wind down, so does Summer Play Daze. Evansville Department of Parks and Recreation will be closing the Summer Play Daze program with an end of the summer cookout at Akin Park on July 16th from 1 to 2pm.

Summer Play Daze took place every Tuesday and Thursday between 1 to 2pm at different Evansville Neighborhood Parks. At each Neighborhood Park, there were activities such as: dancing, arts and crafts, playing in sprinklers, playing with hula hoops, and much more for children between the ages of 5-14 years.

Program Director, Holly Schneider was excited to see the turn out for this program. “Our main goal was to give children an opportunity to come out and have fun this summer while the pools were closed. We hope this cookout will be a good send off before school starts back up.” Schneider said you can see additional activities at the cookout such as a foam machine and giveaways.

In addition, Schneider said that there will be an announcement within the next week about a new and exciting youth program.

Before the program ends, you can find Summer Play Daze at Tepe Park on July 14th from 1 to 2pm. To learn more about Summer Play Daze and other programming, please contact Schneider at 812-568-9340.
