On May 2, around 2:30 a.m., The Evansville Police Department was called to 1200 Edgar St. (Lobo Lounge) for call about a car theft in progress. The victim stated that someone stole his vehicle from the lot and it was last seen heading westbound on Louisiana St. towards First Avenue.
A short time later, officers were dispatched to N. First Ave. and NW Fourth Ave. for a single-car motor vehicle accident. The description of the vehicle involved in the accident was the same as the stolen vehicle.
When officers arrived at the accident they were able to confirm that the vehicle was the same one stolen from 1200 Edger. The driver, Erin Michael Worman (25), was not conscious, but was still breathing. The Evansville Fire Department arrived at the accident and had to cut Worman out of the vehicle.
Worman was transported to a local hospital where his is currently receiving medical attention for several injuries. Although his injuries are numerous, he is expected to survive.
Once released from the hospital, he faces a felony charge of Auto Theft.
