IS IT TRUE that that 4th Ward City Councilwomen Connie Robinson is totally feed up with At -Large City Councilman Jonathan Weaver nipping at her heels?  …at last night FOP “MEET THE CANDIDATE” gathering  Jonathan Weaver made insulting remarks towards Mrs. Robinson?  …the political gloves are off  because Connie Robinson told the CCO last night she going to support Michele Mercer (R) At -Large candidate for City Council over Jonathan Weaver?  …it looks like Mayor Winnecke’s main Democratic supporter Jonathan Weaver may have major re-election challenges?

IS IT TRUE did you know that an area Auto Dealership is providing the EPD Chief with new Dodge pickup truck wrapped in advertising to drive?  …do you feel that our Chief of Police should be driving a vehicle wrapped in Auto Dealership advertising is appropriate?

IS IT TRUE  according to the 2013 990 FEDERAL Tax Return for Evansville Brownfield Corp. reveals that Principal Officer Carolyn Rusk salary was ZERO?  …we wonder if Mrs Rusk salary for being the Principal Officer of the Evansville Brownfield Corp. is paid by the DMD?

IS IT TRUE that the final tally of our recent “Readers Poll” that ask; “Has Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and City Council been a Good Steward of the Public Trust is very interesting?  …383 people voted in this poll?  41 people voted YES?  …312 voted NO and 30 voted Don’t Know?

IS IT TRUE we encourage you to go todays “READERS POLL” that ask “DO YOU FEEL THAT MAYOR WINNECKE IS MAKING A BIG MISTAKE BY NOT ATTENDING THE VETERANS “CALL TO ASSEMBLE” event?

IS IT TRUE that  yesterday City Controller Russ Lloyd Jr sent a memo out to all City Department heads telling them not to allow any more purchase orders until further notice?  …we can’t wait for the Mayor or Russ Lloyd  Jr to blame City Council for this action?

IS IT TRUE  at last night  political forum sponsored by the FOP we were surprised that members of the panel didn’t ask Mayor Winnecke if the city ever took money from the Firemen and Police pension to pay city bills?

  1. Jonathan Weaver is a POX on our community.

Let’s band together and toss the bum out in November.

  2. The CP reported this morning that the main focus of the FOP in last night’s candidates forum was their own pay and benefits. That is fine and expected but there needs to be a realization that the wages of city employees are a reflection of the financial success of the City of Evansville. Without adequate reserves and revenue, city employees will never be able to be paid competitively.

  3. Nice to see Ms. Robinson crossing party lines again like she did last election. Thanks to her, we lost the best chance Evansville had seen in decades to fix this mess with Rick Davis.

  4. Connie can swing an election in her ward. I may forgive her for the last Mayors election if we can get rid of this guy.

    • I have to agree, because Weaver votes however the Republican Mayor wants him to. It’s really like two Republicans running against each other.

“IS IT TRUE here’s a possible explanation for the increase of labor costs that
consumes 87% of the City budget? …Mayor Winnecke has added 187 employees since
he took office 3 1/2 years ago? …there were 1341 City employees when he took
office and now the City has 1528 employees?”
    _________

That 1528 figure would be for a population of about 116,000, which works out to 1.317% of the population on Evansville’s payroll. San Bernardino, which filed for bankruptcy, was at 210,000 population at that time with 1760 on the city payroll, which works out to 0.838% of the population on the city payroll. That is significantly LESS than Evansville’s percentage!

Watch this short video and hope that it is not repeated here in Evansville:

  6. “An educated citizenry is a vital requisite for our survival as a free people.” (Thomas Jefferson)

Nowhere that I can think of displays a less educated public when it comes to the workings of local government, the school corporation, and the relationships between the business lobby and the above two entities, than right here in Evansville.

Nowhere that I can think of has a citizenry more capable of correcting that vital flaw that is threatening their community, if they will make the commitment.

  7. NEWS FLASH: AT LAST NIGHTS FOP PAC NIGHT WEAVER JOINED IN WITH THE REPUBLICANS TO SUPPORT INCREASING OUR TAXES BY 25%. WOULD IT BE A TRUE STATEMENT THAT WINNECKE’S ALLIES ON COUNCIL IS WEAVER AND MOSBY. SO, HERE’S OUR CHOICES, VOTE TO RE-ELECT WEAVER AND WINNECKE AND WE WILL SEE INCREASES IN OUR TAXERS BECAUSE OF WINNECKE RECKLESS AND WILD-EYED SPENDING!!!!!!!!

    • The little man minion weaver is a paws on creep on top of all that. Disgusting breath as well. He’ll force himself far to close to women he doesn’t know, and likely after the rush on,will never know.
The epitome of a overbearing male creep.

    • Dan McGinn showing his true colors. He is no conservative republican, his first impulse is to raise taxes, which is what the tax and spend democrats do all the time, and is what has gotten the city into its current financial mess.

I would propose that the first thing this city does is to drop healthcare for spouses of employees who can get healthcare at their place of employment. Next I would look at the vehicle fleet. If you have a vehicle assigned to you and all you basically do with it is drive to work and back home, and occasionally to an evening meeting at the civic center, then say good by to that luxury my friend. Overtime is shut down until further notice. Any city owned facility that is a large drain on the city’s finances will be privatized if a suitable buyer can be found. The zoo is a prime candidate for privatization and it is high time the city seeks out some of the zoological organizations who would have an interest in owning the zoo.

Put the city’s legal team on a mission to collect the money currently owed the city. Yes, I know that will have a lot of local cronies heading for the tall grass. They can run, but they can’t hide.

Just get off you collective asses and do it! That is what the citizen taxpayers elected you to do,lead!

      • Just a note – – being a spouse of a City of Evansville employee – – to drop healthcare for spouses of employees who can get healthcare at their place of employment is already in effect and has been for some time now.. How much it is enforced, I don’t know. Again, our part time city council people can have it – but spouses who work can not…

    • the other choice is to move out of Vanderburgh County. I will be gone before the election.

  8. I see a problem with that 990 of the Brownfields. It Says Rusk works 20 hrs a week – without pay. Now if she is working 40 as a full time employee of the city the city could be liable as a related entity to pay Rusk time and a half for those twenty hours per week she is not getting paid for. Going back several years that would add up to a retirement for some. I wonder what the contract states. Is she a part time employee for the city for 20 hours and a part time employee for the Brownfields for twenty hours. If that is the case she would not qualify for benefits as part time. This Brownfields organization is quite the odd creature. Its like a parks department or street department but has millions in assets that the operators claim are DMD’s but not the Cities? Could some one explain this animal that seems to be one of a kind?

  9. Looks like Robinson has gone rogue again. How many times can you back a republican and still be allowed on the D ballot?
