Award-winning author to speak at library

February 19, 2013 – Evansville, IN – The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library welcomes award-winning children’s book author April Pulley Sayre to Central Library on Saturday, March 2. Sayre is the featured speaker at this year’s Young Authors Event, an annual event featuring the work of area young writers.

She will speak about her work at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm in the Browning Events Room. Her 1:00 presentation will contain information for teachers and educators. After each presentation, Sayre will sign copies of her books, which will be available for purchase from Barnes and Noble at the event, or attendees are welcome to bring their own.

The author of over 55 natural history books for children and adults, Sayre has followed lemurs in Madagascar, pursued army ants in Panama, and eaten piranha in the Peruvian Amazon. Her books include Here Come the Humpbacks!; Ant, Ant, Ant!; Turtle, Turtle, Watch Out!; and One is a Snail, Ten is a Crab.

In addition, several schools will be in attendance to showcase the work of their students from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in the lobby of Central Library. From 10:45 am to 1:00 pm in the READ children’s area, families are invited to enjoy special hands-on science activities and games and meet animals from Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden.

Admission to all parts of the event is free. This event is made possible by the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library Foundation and the Evansville Area Reading Council.
