IS IT TRUE AUGUST 3, 2015, HERE’S ANOTHER PICTURE WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS

38
IS IT TRUE that it looks like we have another picture is  “Worth A Thousand  Words”?  …attached  is a photo of the “2015 Political Dream Team”  taken at a alleged  political strategy get together at Howell Park Shelter?

IS IT TRUE this interesting picture was recently sent to us by a CCO poster?  …we find this picture extremely interesting because it suggests that the individuals in this picture are running as “Slate” on the Democratic ticket?  … our poster wonders why Democrats Mayoral candidate Gail Riecken, 5th Ward Tom Shoulders,  3rd Ward Ann Melcher, At-Large candidate Dr. Dan Adams, and 4th Ward Connie Robinson weren’t invited to attend this alleged candidate strategy session held at Howell Park?

IS IT TRUE we agree with our poster that this is another picture “Worth a Thousand Words” and thats why we put it up for your review and discussion.

IS IT TRUE that 6th Ward City Council candidate Jim Brinkmeyer has not learned common political courtesy yet?  …when the Democratic candidate running for Mayor calls him three or four times and he does not return her phone calls we feel this is down right disrespectful towards Mrs. Riecken?  …It’s been rumored that Mr. Brinkmeyer is spending too much time being a social butterfly instead of helping fellow Democrats getting votes in his Ward?

IS IT TRUE ever since the 2nd Ward traffic light was installed on the corner of Green River Road and Pollack Avenue there already been several close accidents? …traffic lights are supposed to keep the intersection safer, but one week into the new traffic lights installation it seems to be having the opposite effect? … this is the kind of thing that happens when you let political people make public safety decisions instead leaving the decision to our hired professional Engineers who make decisions based on real data and research?

IS IT TRUE has anyone heard from EPD Chief Billy Bolin since the legal ruling by the United States 7th Circuit Court?  …the EPD rank and file are looking for a statement from Chief Bolin that everything is going to be OK?

IS IT TRUE we find that 3rd Ward City Council candidate Anna Hargis “tweet” that the new Downtown Convention Hotel being delayed for a year has costs the taxpayers $13 million dollars in losses is interesting?  …we can’t wait for City Council candidate and the Director of Big Brother and Sisters, Anna Hargis, CPA, to give us a detailed breakdown of the $13 million dollars losses of the delayed Hotel? …we would like to hear from Ms. Hargis who or what caused the Hotel delay? …we are hearing that her opponent Anna Melcher will be taking Ms. Hargis to task about this “tweet” ?

Please take time and vote in today’s “Readers Poll”. Don’t miss reading today’s Feature articles because they are always an interesting read..

  1. As Obamacare Takes Hold, Unpaid Hospital Bills Vanish
    FORBES MAGAZINE Aug 2, 2015
    (Publisher Steve Forbes is a Republican, major GOP Donor and former GOP Pres. candidate)

    As American hospital operators begin to report second period earnings — continuing the sixth consecutive quarter of new revenue from once uninsured patients — the number and size of unpaid medical bills continues to fall thanks to the Affordable Care Act. As a result of the ACA, unpaid hospital bills and hospital patient bad debts, normally passed on to other paying hospital patients in the form of higher bills, continue to decline.

    The ACA health law last year began to provide subsidized private health insurance coverage on public exchanges and expanded Medicaid for poor Americans. With increasing numbers signing up to private coverage and more states opting to expand Medicaid in the last 18 months, hospital companies are seeing expenses for bad debts, charity and uncompensated care fall. A snapshot of this trend could be seen in last week’s earnings report of Universal Health Services (UHS), a large multi-state investor-owned operator of hospitals, which reported uncompensated care declined in the second quarter “as it has the last six quarters now,” Universal Health chief financial officer Steve Filton told analysts on the company’s second quarter earnings call.

    ….well, it looks like the guys on the loser bench griping about Obamacare everyday, are gonna have to come up with some new excuses that the ACA isn’t working. This is from one of America’s major GOP donors. Forbes is acknowledging the ACA is working as planned. Major Obama policy win. DB

    • And, as the article states in the part you didn’t copy and paste, Universal Health Services believes most of the 17% reduction is due to states having expanded Medicaid and we know who carries the burden of Medicaid costs, don’t we?

      • ….you need to read the law, or at least how its payment system is structured. You are saying it’s working exactly as it is planned to work! But then you say its’ not due to the ACA. They’re the same disaffected. That Medicaid exists is your problem that you are pointing out. You want to ban Medicaid? That’s another article.

        Hospitals are being paid instead of racking up bad debts from the uninsured because of the ACA has eliminated wide swaths of uninsured Americans. The article is pointing out, quite clearly, the bad debts that fuel the inflation of higher medical costs, are declining (six straight quarters in a row, mind you). THAT was hollered loudly by all of the opponents of the ACA as “that ain’t never gonna happen – they are lying!!’ Turns out they weren’t, and none other than a GOP Presidential major donor is acknowledging those guys have rotten egg all over their face.

      • What? You are making the point ENTIRELY Indiana Enoch.
        YOUR hospital costs were rising an annual average of 13% a year before the ACA….because of bad debts being passed on to your bill by the hospital due to uninsured patients. So you WANT to go back to YOU paying more? That is your point?
        Look, STEVE FORBES for God’s sake, is acknowledging the ACA is eliminating hospital bad debts. So…go ahead…..complain that “Well, N. Korea is still gonna have the bomb!! The ACA didn’t fix that did it?!!”
        You NEED something to gripe about from that bench over there….I get it.

      • Ever since we passed Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act in 1986 it wasn’t a question of IF we paid but, HOW MUCH and when.

        The cost of Medicaid expansion plus the cost of the ACA premium subsidies vs the Emergency Room savings and other savings is the analysis.

        Of course the human cost and lives saved cannot be measured in a financial sense.

        No cost should be spared to save a human life…. correct?

        • It has always confused me how we can afford to spend a million dollars to save a human life but can’t afford pay that human $15.00 a hour to work?

          • Machines will soon be doing those menial jobs anyway so it’s really a non-issue. Computers can be utilized in fast food joints to take your order.

        • They only care about life before exiting the womb. You are correct though, the only way to make the conservative’s view of health care work is to allow people to die on emergency room doorsteps if they can’t produce payment before services are rendered. I guarantee those who are OK with that are also “pro life.”

    • But, but, but Joe Blow from Dipwad TN says his premiums went up a gazillion percent and his wife divorced him and his kids disowned him and his dog died!

      They KNOW it’s true because they saw on a Koch Bros, errr I mean “Americans for Prosperity” commercial and they sitting there with Fraud News on with their confirmation and selection bias, and prejudice standing by ready and willing!

      • It is from FORBES Magazine. That is the second line BP. Look. It’s news you don’t wanna hear…I get it BP. It makes your normal narrative that the ACA is failing transparently total BS.

  2. Winning Lemmings?? I think so. Add the others makes a pretty good Demo ticket. To me, run Demo’s run!

  3. Once Hargis gets her abacus up and beadin’ she’ll be able to offer a defense of Winnecke’s inept attempt to build a substandard hotel, it will come complete with believable numbers. Sort of. They are running out of people to send up, Schaefer and the rest having long ago lost all credibility. I suspect that specious 13 million figure came right from under the shineover of … the peripatetic and unbelievable Bob Warren. Shop him back to Galena Illinois, quick, before he scoreboards again.

    Those who’d believe Hargis’ 13 million figure, I guess representing lost tourism/convention/softball business or whatever, are going to vote for Winnecke and his handpicked council slate anyway. If some good Patel would deed him one of the by-the-hours on Fares Ave. maybe his obsession would be sated long enough for people to step back and look at this debacle for what it is. Not likely though, he’s seen that big money swirling around and will keep taking shots at it. It will take a Bekins van w/chute, burly crew and pry bar, backing up to the Civic Center, to get him out of there.
    ~~~
    An open administration would have already told us what the latest failed appeal to the 7th Circuit cost us. These are litigious folks, doesn’t bother them a bit. They don’t have to pay the high cost of federal litigation. They make their mistakes, plenty of them, and try to bury them under paperwork. Listen to the recording of the oral arguments in the appeal of the district court’s ruling on summary judgment in the Milan case, decide for yourself what the court thinks of these cases Winnecke keeps sending up there after losing at the trial court level. I’ve never heard anything like it.
    • I’ve read my share of appellate decisions and didn’t trust this one was real after reading it. I started with the CCO link and then went to the Court’s site and looked it up. The mocking is intense. I suspect there will be no trial. The daily coverage would be horrific for the Mayor. The only thing the Courier likes more than stroking the Mayor is attacking the police and prosecutor. And only because there is no corporate interest to consider, but that’s another rant for another day. This will settle.
      • The audio is even more telling than the written ruling. They seem to be getting tired of us up there. They should have settled Milan after the district judge’s ruling against summary judgment. I think they thought the appeal would make it go away until after the election.
    • Bandana–If you really believe in “open” dialog, why don’t you use your real name when you post a comment in the CCO?
      Wayne Parke
      • Instead of posting here why don’t you and Winnecke bring us that cost/benefit analysis for that phantom hotel Winnecke is building?
        It’s a no brainer… Correct?
      • Well Wayne, if Wayne you be, I’m not looking for any dialog. Open, closed or ajar. I just make my comments and sort of hope one of them brings you, like happened this morning.
        Looks like Winnecke is running scared. When they let presumed Wayne groundhog up you know he’s in trouble.
        • Again–Why do you hide behind an assumed name when you post?
          FYI– Mayor Winnecke has a big lead and will be re-elected in November.
          Wayne Parke
          • I don’t hide. Bandana is not an assumed name.
            Failed Mayor Winnecke is running scared. If he wasn’t they wouldn’t stoop to letting something like you dodder out here with your goofy old standby: ‘what’s your name’. Ho ho ho.
        • What ever here’s your definition for’um ………. “putz”
          ˈpəts,ˈpo͝ots
          NORTH AMERICANinformal
          noun r/.1. a stupid or worthless person.
          verb r/.2. engaging in inconsequential or unproductive activities.
          “too much putzing around up there would ruin them”
          Yeah, a putz.
      • Hey, Wayne . . . sources indicate that while in high school your nickname was Golden Toe. Is it true or not that one of the blogger’s names was “Golden Toe” and actually inspired other blogger names??? What a hypocrite. Santa Lloyd a/k/a Your Fool for a Mayor. He knows nothing about finance. His actual degree is dual one in Drama and one in Communication’s or a lack thereof. Never attended any business courses. Spent his spare time in the theatre where he still resides. Now you have your sidekick the CPA, Ann Hargis, doing your bidding by implying that the “No Tell” Motel cost was increased by $13 million do to everybody else’s fault but the Fool in Room 302 commonly referred to as Santa’s Workshop. The fool was the one that selected the underperforming HCW and refused to financially vet these clowns . . . so, when you look into the mirror of Wayne’s World, make sure you recognize it is you part and parcel part of the problem.
  4. The Winnecke drones have pulled the $13M out of thin air (or other places) and are now bandying that number about as “FACT”, nothing could be further from the truth.
    Further, there are BILLION of dollars of minerals in the ocean, but it would cost BILLIONS MORE to get them out, so REVENUE is a useless measure.
  5. What!!! The dream team hell. is it true or not that Mosby was sued for failure to pay her Evansville Country Club charges? of course, we have the alleged allegations about Weaver’s wife beating episodes. of course we have “party boy” Jim Brinkmeyer. What a pitiful state of affairs!! My advise to Alex . . stay as far away from those misfits as possible that is if you want to be elected. ps. Missy new name? Landside Mosby, only won her primary by 14 votes.
  6. Old Ann Hargis . . isn’t she the CPA that use to work for a major employer in the City? Wonder why she no longer works for them?
  7. Might want to get your facts straight. This picture is from a rally that was held for all committeemen, office holders, and candidates though all did not show (it was lightly attended). It was on June 25th. Gail and SBR also attended this event. No “strategy” was discussed.
  8. The EVANSVILLE-VANDERBURGH SCHOOL CORPORATION ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT appears in today’s legal section.
    In it you will find that $75,037,565.00 in receipts were paid from what is termed “local sources”.
    In it you will find that $146,425,155.00 in receipts were paid from what is termed “State sources”.
    This is the description of the funding comprising the “State sources”:
    [The biggest state aid program–so big it makes up about a fifth of the state’s entire budget–is aid to local school corporations. Revenue is collected from state general funds, primarily the individual income, sales and corporate income taxes. Revenue is distributed to the 294 school corporations based on a complex formula. This formula is revised every two years, during the budget sessions of the General Assembly. One of its primary purposes is “equalization.” Some school corporations have a large amount of assessed value per pupil, others have very little. Left to themselves, those with more wealth would spend more on education, and those with less would spend less. The school aid formula delivers more aid to school corporations with less assessed value per pupil, and less aid to school corporations with more assessed value per pupil. Spending still varies among school corporations, but not nearly as much as it would without this equalizing aid.]
    I would like to point out at this time the disparity between the 2014 revenue received by Indiana from two of the above sources: the Corporate Adjusted Gross Income Tax and the Individual Adjusted Gross Income Tax:
    2014
    Corporate Adjusted Gross Income Tax:………………………………$764,335,1 ($764.million)
    Individual Adjusted Gross Income Tax…………………………….$4,896,316,5 ($4.8billion)
    Of course the State Income Tax also is paid by LOCAL citizens, so what is termed as a State source of funding for EVSC is in reality a local income tax also which gets termed as a State source of funding. So it is easy for one to see that the lion’s share of funding for EVSC comes from local working class residential property owners. I say residential property owners because they do not have anyone to pass the cost on to, as does business.
    So how about a little respect for the working home owners who pay the the bills?
  9. As John Lennon once wrote, ” Imagine” . . . in the spirit of our deal departed friend . . . Imagine (relating to the future council) there’s no vision, only financial despair nothing to live for only malice and dis-repair . . and the song will sing on and on . . while the dream team dis-illusional as they may be, sips their wine and beer not realizing that they will be the facilitators of our City’s financial demise while the Mad Hater together with Alice a/k/a/ Sanata Lloyd and Christmas Carol dance by the moon light in Tucson, AZ . . .p.s. I claim the movie rights to his saga. . . .SUCKERS, JUST SUCKERS!!!!
  10. NEWS FLASH . . . .Santa Lloyd forgot to put into the hotel/motel budget the cost of wetsuits for the outdoor swimming pool concerning the Roadside Convention Motel. p.s. ground breaking delayed due to re-painting the shovels . .as it seems, the gold paint wore off due to over-use . . .
    • I heard the ground breaking conflicted with the toaster give-away from his moonlighting job at the bank.
