“IS IT TRUE” FEBRUARY 10, 2020

We hope that today’s “IS IT TRUE” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way?
IS IT TRUE that County Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave and County Commissioner Ben Shoulders will be the Keynote speakers at the SIBA (Southern Indiana Builders Association) Board of Directors Annual Dinner at Tropicana?
IS IT TRUE that Commissioner Ben Shoulders and Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave will also serve as this year’s Grand Marshals in the annual Vanderburgh County Mardi Gras Parade on West Franklin Street?… that in the past such Grand Marshals of this event have been Mayor Winnecke, Sheriff Wedding, Don Mattingly, Lilly King and many other prominent celebrities and community leaders?
IS IT TRUE  that the City-County Observer has been telling our readers for years that the City Of Evansville is having major cash flow problems?  ….it looks like the deficit spending habits have finally caught up with the Winnecke Administration? …we are told that the 2020 City Council is planning to address this issue and will starting to look for ways of correcting them? …with sound budgetary planning and cash flow management the City Of Evansville City Council could stop this type of problem from ever happening again?
IS IT TRUE that the Evansville City Council doesn’t have a revenue problem? …they just have a spending problem?
IS IT TRUE if a CEO of a major for-profit Corporation and was handed down a similar audit that was given to the City of Evansville by the State Boards Of Accounts in 2019 we guarantee that the Controller of his Corporation would be quickly looking for another job?
IS IT TRUE last week Rev. Steve Ary was planning to file his petition to run against Democratic State Representative Ryan Hatfield as a Republican but didn’t realize that he should have filed his petition in Indy?  …that local GOP Party Chairman Wayne Parke has until June 30, 2020, to call a local party caucus to approve Rev. Ary to run as a Republican against Democratic State Representative Ryan Hatfield?  … many people are looking with interest to see if the Vanderburgh County Republican Party Chairman Wayne Parke is really the “Let’s Make A Deal Monty Hall” of local politics?

IS IT TRUE that last week the  Republican candidate for District #1 County Commissioner seat, Reverend William Garrett abruptly withdrew as a candidate for that seat?  …that Reverend Willaim Garrett heeded Wayne Parke’s advice and announce that he’s now a candidate for the At-Large County Council seat? …this move paved the way for Zac Rascher. to run for District #1 County Commissioner? ..we are told that this unexpected last-minute political move by Revered Billy Garrett may prove to be a major political mistake for him because Jill Anne Hahn decided to throw her hat in the ring at the last minute?  …it looks like there will now be a Republican primary in the Vanderburgh County Council race?  ..we been told by those in the know that it looks like Rev. Garrett is now the odd man out?

IS IT TRUE we wonder if Mayor Winnecke, the Deputy Mayor, the Mayor’s wife may also have had some influence on Republican Zac Rascher filing as a candidate for the Vanderburgh County Commission District #1 seat currently held by Ben Shoulders?

IS IT TRUE  that “a lack of transparency results in distrust and a deep sense of insecurity.”  …this is a quote by the Dalai Lama?
IS IT TRUE the North Main corridor master plan was designed to replace some street parking, provide an up-to-date bike trail, reduce crime and improve security in that area,  and bring economic development to that area? …it’s been about a couple of years since this project was completed?  …we invite you to go to the North Main corridor area and see what kind of new retail businesses and single-family home housing development that this $18 million dollar public works project has attracted?
IS IT TRUE over the years we have made numerous reference that the Evansville Water and Sewer Utilities Board were not only known for their political patronage hiring activities but was also used as a funding source to help the City of Evansville in their occasional financial cash flow problems?  …it’s safe to say that over the last several years the Evansville Water and Sewer Utilities Board have advanced the City of Evansville many millions of dollars in cash to help the city with cash shortfalls?  …we hope that that the newly appointed member to this board, Connie Robinson will openly be opposed to future political patronage hiring practices and unreasonable water and sewer rate increases?
IS IT TRUE the question is “What is the main reason why mainstream printed newspapers have lost credibility with the general public”  …the main reason is they have allowed themselves to become the “Ministers Of Progranda” for elected local and state and national officials?
IS IT TRUE about 13 years ago that the owners of the City-County Observers made an astute visionary decision to stop publishing a printed newspaper and start to publish online? … during the last 17 years, the City-County Observer has made an honorable profit each and every month?
IS IT TRUE in 1998 the Teamsters Local 215 established a Taft-Hartley Scholarship Fund?  …since 1998 the fund has awarded over $4 Million Dollars in Scholarships to sons and daughters of Teamsters members whose employers contribute to the fund?
IS IT TRUE we would like to thank Kalah Hirsch, Records Specialist Asst. IDACS Coordinator for the Evansville Police Department for sending the daily EPD activities report in a timely manner?
IS IT TRUE when the people fear the Government we have Tyranny!  When the Government fears the people we have Liberty
Today’s “Readers Poll” question is: If the Republican primary for the Vanderburgh County Council was held today which three (3) individuals would you vote for?
