“IS IT TRUE” FOR APRIL 9, 2018

27

We hope that today’s “IS IT TRUE” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way?

IS IT TRUE we commend the At-Large City Councilman and Finance Chairman Jonathon Weaver for requesting that the ECHO Board Of Directors and their newly appointed Executive Director come before City Council at this evenings Council meeting to explain why they are worthy of receiving approximately $500,000 of our tax dollars this year? …we predict that they will make a passionate plea to convince Council to release the embargo Federal and State funds to ECHO Housing?

IS IT TRUE  we hope that At-large City Council member and Finance Chairman Jonathon Weaver will remind Council members that the Forensic audit will begin on April 17, 2018, and should take a month to complete?  …he should also remind Council that the final results of the Evansville Police Department investigation of ECHO Housing aren’t complete and haven’t been made public?

IS IT TRUE for the sake of transparency we respectfully request that At-Large Councilman and Finance Chairman Jonathon Weaver will ask members of ECHO Housing Board Of Director’s if they had a policy that allowed the past Executive Director to write and sign agency checks with only her signature?  …we can’t wait to hear the answer to this question?

IS IT TRUE we wonder if you would you donate any of your personal money to ECHO Housing before the official results of the Police investigation and the Forensic audit are made public?  …if the answer is “no” then why would the Evansville City Council even consider releasing the Federal and State tax dollars to ECHO Housing at this time?

IS IT TRUE we predict that members of the City Council will not approve giving the Federal and State funds to ECHO Housing until the police investigation report and the Forensic audit are made public?

IS IT TRUE several readers brought to our attention that the Airport public announcement welcoming people to Evansville is the voice of Evansville Mayor Winnecke? …they pointed out that Airport is jointly controlled by the City of Evansville and Vanderburgh County?  …they feel the Airport welcoming announcements should also include the Presidents of the County Commission and the County Council of Vanderburgh County?

IS IT TRUE we predict that the proposed that the new Northside Lloyd swimming pool will be built on the Robert Parks site?  …all the Mayor has to do is find the money to build this multi-million dollar state of the art swimming pool?

IS IT TRUE at tonights Evansville City Council meeting an amendment to the Ordinance creating Chapter 9.30 (Regulation of Noise) of the Evansville Municipal Code will be discussed in detail?  …that the sponsors of this are Council persons Dr. Dan Adam (D) and Connie Robinson (D)?  …we wonder if the people opposing this Ordinance will make public some of the interesting e-mails sent back and forth between the individuals pushing for a more restrictive noise Ordinance?

IS IT TRUE we expect that any day the Chairman of the Vanderburgh County Democratic party, Scott Danks will be announcing the names of the individuals running in the upcoming General election?  …Mr. Danks promises that his party will have well known and qualified candidates running for every State and County offices list on the General election ballot?  …he also stressed that he has two extremely well known and qualified candidates that will be running for Vanderburgh County Commissioner and County Prosecutor positions?  …he even predicted that both people running for these offices would be elected?  …this is definitely a developing story?

IS IT TRUE that 63 people applied for the Evansville/Vanderburgh Vistors and Convention Bureau Executive Directors job?   …we hear that the final applicant for the Evansville/Vanderburgh Visitors and Convention Bureau Executive Directors job is from out-of-town?  …that the Evansville/Vanderburgh Visitors and Convention Bureau Board Of Director hired a national firm to vet the final applicants for this job?  …we are hearing that the new Executive Director could be from the same state that the recently hired local Chamber of Commerce Executive Director is from?

IS IT TRUE that we recommend that “2nd Amendment Patriots” better be ready to attend the April 23, 2018, City Council meeting?  …at this meeting City Council members will hear a “GUN SENSE INDIANA PRESENTATION” led by Sean O’Daniel?

IS IT TRUE that the Vanderburgh County Property Tax Bills are being mailed Monday, April 9th, 2018?  …the Deadline is May 10th, 2018?

Todays “Readers Poll” question is: Should City Council should give Federal and State tax dollars to EHO Housing without knowing the findings of the police investigation and the Forensic audit?

  1. Jam packed “Is It True” today. First, I cant wait to see how much my property value went up so I can pay more toward those school vouchers, having made zero improvements.
Next, I dont know the answer, someone may, but does the City oversee the allocating of the Fed/State funds to Echo Housing and choose who gets what amount? If they are just a pass through for the money, they really have no standing to withhold the dough as I see it.
Next, GUN SENSE thing. The second of the claims that gun violence is NOT a mental illness needs another look. Anyone, other than military at war, that would aim a gun at another human and kill them, has a form of mental illness. This proclamation states otherwise. This is all “feel good” blather. Most of it just common sense.

    • mack………….you could have looked up property value a long time ago……………a school voucher would without a doubt helped you……….just sayin………………

  2. “An epidemic of stabbings and acid attacks in London has gotten so bad that London mayor Sadiq Khan is announcing broad new “knife control” policies designed to keep these weapons of war out of the hands of Londoners looking to cause others harm.

The “tough, immediate” measures involve an incredible police crackdown, a ban on home deliveries of knives and acid, and expanding law enforcement stop-and-search powers so that police may stop anyone they believe to be a threat, or planning a knife or acid attack….

Strangely enough, Khan is responsible for decreasing the number of stop-and-searches, having previously declared the tactic racist and potentially Islamophobic. It’s also not clear what local Londoners will now use to cut their food.

Parliament is also set to take up heavy “knife control” legislation when it resumes this week….

  3. IS IT TRUE that the Security People at the Ford Center (the people in the black shirts that check you for oversized diaper bags, any backpacks, any food or drink) and serve as ushers are technically employees of the Evansville Police Department and are paid from funds from the Evansville Police Department instead of by the firm that operates the Ford Center? And IS IT TRUE that this expense is not reflected in the true operating cost of the Ford Center? And IS IT TRUE that this is also the case for the “Security” employees at the Old National Events Plaza and the Victory Theatre?

    • They don’t count the payment on the $127 million in bonds either. If they were a publicly traded stock they would be forced to restate their earnings by the SEC.

  4. “IS IT TRUE that we recommend that “2nd Amendment Patriots” better be ready to attend the April 23, 2018, City Council meeting?  …at this meeting City Council members will hear a “GUN SENSE INDIANA PRESENTATION” led by Sean O’Daniel?”

Sean O’Daniel, a true left-wing nut job. Not a liberal but a left-wing socialist hell-bent on overturning the Second Amendment and confiscating any legally owned guns you might have in your possession. He’s,not interested in the criminal element and those with mental illnesses, he just wants to remove guns from the possession of all legal citizens.

    • Your description of Sean O’Daniel (typical dem) is as I expected. Wonder who invited him to speak to the City Council?

  5. One of the tenets of the Gun Sense Indiana Presentation is “the reform of school discipline to reduce exclusionary practices”: exactly the policy in place at Parkland school which kept Nikolas Cruz from having a criminal record.
Lost in all the futile, feel good talk about more gun laws is the responsibility of the shooter himself, the authorities who refuse to do their duty, and politicians who see this as an opportunity to destroy the NRA.
As for Nikolas Cruz, he deserves the death penalty.

    • DC, 100% correct that the Parkland School plan that did not expel Cruz and subject him to criminal charges, is exactly how Cruz was not barred from acquiring a firearm. If the left-leaning EVSC adopts “the reform of school discipline to reduce exclusionary practices”, the EVSC will have intentionally made every student and teacher LESS SAFE. This would be idiocy of the criminal negligent variety:
      ………………………………..
“Despite committing a string of arrestable offenses on campus before the Florida school shooting, Nikolas Cruz was able to escape the attention of law enforcement, pass a background check and purchase the weapon he used to slaughter three staff members and 14 fellow students because of Obama administration efforts to make school discipline more lenient.

Documents reviewed by RealClearInvestigations and interviews show that his school district in Florida’s Broward County was in the vanguard of a strategy, adopted by more than 50 other major school districts nationwide, allowing thousands of troubled, often violent, students to commit crimes without legal consequence. The aim was to slow the “school-to-prison pipeline.” ”

“He had a clean record, so alarm bells didn’t go off when they looked him up in the system,” veteran FBI agent Michael Biasello told RCI. “He probably wouldn’t have been able to buy the murder weapon if the school had referred him to law enforcement.”

Disclosures about the strategy add a central new element to the Parkland shooting story: It’s not just one of official failings at many levels and of America’s deep divide over guns, but also one of deliberate federal policy gone awry.

      https://www.realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2018/02/28/obama_administration_school_discipline_policy_and_the_parkland_shooting.html

    • Confessed shooter Nikolas Cruz was a disciplinary nightmare for schools before he opened fire in Parkland, Florida — yet there was nothing on his record to stop him from buying a firearm or alarm the FBI after the agency received a tip.

      Why not?

The demand for an answer to that question has focused attention on Broward County Public Schools policies embraced by the Obama administration that were designed to help rule-breaking students avoid permanent blots on their records by reducing referrals to law enforcement.

Under Superintendent Robert W. Runcie, who worked for Obama Education Secretary Arne Duncan in the Chicago Public Schools, school-based arrests dropped by 63 percent from 2012 to 2016 after he implemented policies designed to derail the “schoolhouse-to-jailhouse pipeline.”

But the approach also helped keep Cruz off the law-enforcement radar, despite school-based offenses that reportedly included assault, threats and bringing bullets to school in his backpack.

  6. How about an ordinance for panhandling on street corners?

Same people, same places, almost every day. Quite annoying…………

    • I have long had the same thoughts on panhandling. Lloyd and Green River exit, Red Bank and Lloyd, Morgan and Green River, etc. ECHO is supposed to house and care for the homeless. Get them off the streets before this City turns into NYC or San Fran. I have sympathy for those people, but we do not have to subjected to panhandling on the public streets when public money is supposed to care for them. City Council, and County Commissioners need to address this problem.

  7. Trump’s wall isn’t built. It isn’t even funded.
Ann Coulter says Trump is “a shallow, lazy, ignoramus.” I agree.
Why? Because Trump signed the $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill that contained generous funding for liberal social and cultural programs favored by Democrats, generous funding for liberal NYC’s tunnels, no cuts in any funding for the sanctuary cities, but did include all kinds of funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting,

    Border wall? Zero.
Trump is a pimple. A burst pimple. He’s an orange popped pimple.

  8. DID YOU KNOW, that an Attorney must maintain client confidentiality on behalf of his client, EXCEPT when the attorney ceases to be acting strictly as legal counsel for his client, and instead begins participating alongside his client as an associate in the client’s criminal enterprise:

“The attorney-client privilege protects most communications between clients and their lawyers. But, according to the crime-fraud exception to the privilege, an attorney’s communication with his client isn’t privileged if he made it with the intention of committing or covering up a crime or fraud.”

BREAKING NEWS, today, April 9, 2018:
“F.B.I. Raids Office of Trump’s Longtime Lawyer Michael Cohen”

    UH-OH!!!

  9. The FBI raided Trump attorney’s office, and while the media seems infatuated with the idea it was over Trump’s payments to the pornstar Stormy Daniels, the betting money is that Cohen is involved in helping to cover up Trump’s collusion and crimes with agents of the Russian government.

You do not raid the attorney’s office of a subject of an investigation (Trump), really you don’t, unless you have totally damning evidence.
Now you know why Trump is getting his clock cleaned by China, why Trump votes for a mega-budget giving the Dems everything they want, how he’s losing track of activities in Syria, by Putin, by North Korea and why the economy has returned to shaky ground: He’s losing his Presidency and is unhinged.

  10. Wow. Fox News and Drudge are reporting that Cohen, Trump’s lawyer, the fbi raided his office.

    • Is it hot in here or is it just me? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

      • Oh man.
Do you know what we need?
We need a lap dog named Dann Coulter to come in here and do some barking for us!
        Dann? Sit! Bark!

  11. russia russia russia………….uranium mueller mueller mueller………………………. stormy stormy stormy……………blah blah blah……….MAGA TRUMP KICKING ECONOMY ASS………………MAGA TRUMP 2020 AND BEYOND……………lollllllllllllllllllll…………..

    • Aaaaah. Don’t you just love it when Al Sharpie opens his mouth, and a swarm of flies roar down his throat? Al’s problem? He’s running out of Trump horns to blow. He’s about to lose the last one.
This is from today’s Wall Street Journal:

“In the U.S., gauges of manufacturing and services activity are pulling back since Trump became President. Retail sales have fallen for three straight months, construction spending decelerated at the start of the year, and auto sales have stalled for the first time in nearly a decade. On Friday, government data showed a sharp slowdown in U.S. jobs creation last month, reversing the labor market’s recent momentum.”

Look Al. The Cohen news is bad. No getting around that. You DO NOT RAID THE ATTORNEY’S OFFICE unless you have KILLER evidence. What’s the evidence? Trump is gonna tweet insane crap tomorrow morning, cause he wants to know that answer too.

  12. http://www.tristatehomepage.com/news/local-news/mccurdy-owner-responds-to-wastewater-dispute-with-city-thecity-does-not-know-how-to-handle-it/1109565530

I guess Kunkel has never heard of the new North HS or Cedar Hall school here in Evansville. (And I wouldn’t be surprized to find the new McCutchanville Middle School is using the same technology.) They’ve had ground water geothermal HVAC systems for several years. The difference: they inject their waste water back into the ground water system (a.closed loop) instead of dumping it into a storm water system or a waste water system or a combination storm water/waste water system.
Nope, Kunkel is a day late and a dollar short when it comes to geothermal ground water HVAC systems. And a low buck developer for failing to install equipment return the “waste water” to the ground water source.

If Kunkel needed some design expertise for his ground water geothermal HVAC system all he needed to do was contact Energy Systems Group, Inc. (subsidiary of Vectren) and they would have put him intouchbwith some knowledgeable local Engineers who would have designed a proper system.
And, no, I don’t work for ESGI or any local Consulting Engineering firms.

    • White Oak Manor on St. Joe Ave. drilled 54 wells to a depth of 400 ft. and installed a closed loop system. I think the housing unit downtown also did the same. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to just dump all that water down the drain. I doubt if the cost would have been prohibitive for a closed loop system for the McCurdy.

  13. The jackals are howling and frothing at the mouth at the fake news suggesting they will at long last be fed some red meat. Will they never learn?

    • Barking Dann!
Is there ANY news that’s not frothing?
What news are you watching that’s NOT frothing!!??!!
      Bark! Bark! Bark!!

  14. an excellent “is it true”. They must have a forensic audit as they are spreading the costs to operate the Ford center to numerous departments to understate the Ford Center’s expenses and therefore overstate their purported profits (they actually will cost the taxpayers $11 to $12 million this year thus no profit. In most jurisdictions this is called fraud! That we know about building Dept budget contains labor costs for the Ford Center, police dept contains costs that are really security services for the ford Center, the debt payments on the bonds for the Ford Center (estimated at $8million per year) are somewhere in the finance department and not in the Ford center budget. Joe Wallace is correct the security and exchange commission is going to be after them re the $130,000,000 Ford Center bond issue and corresponding erroneous accounting. How many other budgets have hidden costs for the Ford Center and the Icemen…don’t forget the addendum 6 approved the right to charge Thunderbolt Hockey temas expenses to “facility expenses” which means that you probably have hockey sticks, goalie mask and bus trip exprnses for the hockey team travel included in the operating costs for the Ford Center…all this cries out for a forensic audit asap of the Ford Center as the taxpayers need to understand that taxpyers in effect own the Thunderbolts
