Zehme named GLVC Defensive Player of the Week

EVANSVILLE, Ind.
 – University of Southern Indiana junior goalkeeper Adam Zehme (Orland Park, Illinois) was named the GLVC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Screaming Eagles’ victories at Saint Joseph’s College and the University of Indianapolis over the weekend. The GLVC Defensive Player of the Week award is the first of the 2016 season for the Eagles and the second of Zehme’s career.

Zehme is the first Eagle to win multiple GLVC Defensive Player of the Week awards since the award was created in 2013.

Last week, Zehme posted a pair of road shutouts, making six saves in the 2-0 win over Saint Joseph’s College and made four saves the 1-0 win at UIndy. He faced 21 shots in 180 minutes of action.

In 2016, the junior goalkeeper has posted a career-high nine wins and has recorded four shutouts in his last five matches. Zehme, overall, is 9-1 in 2016 with a 0.89 goals against average in 914 minutes of action between the posts. He also is one shutout shy of tying a career-best.

The Eagles continue GLVC action Friday when they host William Jewell College for a 7:30 p.m. match-up.
