Williams named GLVC Player of the Week

University of Southern Indiana sophomore Zach Williams (Mt. Vernon, Illinois) was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in the Don Morris Invitational that was hosted by Union University this week. The award is the first of Williams’ career.

Williams helped lead the Screaming Eagles to the team championship by shooting a two-round 142 (70-72), tying for first individually. The sophomore also heled the Eagles to their best round of the season (288) and to their first team championship with a two-day 594 (288-306).

The Player of the Week honor is the first for the Eagles’ men’s golf team since Preston Van Winkle earned the award in spring of 2018.

USI finished the fall with a 306.2 strokes per round average (spra)  as a team in five tournaments, while Williams led the squad with a 73.7 spra.
