  1. Uh, did I miss something? The Evansville C&P is reporting that Mesker Amphitheater will be open for public inspection and input regarding what should be done with the facility. They’re also reporting that Mesker can be brougbt up to “modern standards” for $9 – $12 million (reality check – more like $20 – $25 million). That’s a no brainer. That’s chump change for a city willing to spend $240 million for an arena located in the wrong place, undersized, and with poor seating and sight lines.
The really interesting portion of the article is it claims “This is Winnecke’s second aged music venue he’s had to address since he was first elected in 2011.” The article indicates Winnecke was responsible for the demolition of Roberts Stadium, not Weinzapfel. How did I miss that?

  2. My comment is about diversity and why? I saw the new class of Evansville Firefighters graduation picture. At first I thought is well good luck and stay safe. Then later it occurred to me that the men and women in the photo were white. No protests/no apology/no one screaming for accountablity like the EPD is held to.

Why cant we recurit minorities to the EFD? Its a good job. No layoffs. Healthcare. But maybe its a calling. Putting on that thick clothing going into a fire. Climbing a ladder several stories into the sky? Now doing more emergency medical calls. People throwing up on you/bleeding on you/dying on you.

How can we recurit people to come to the fire service? Its a job were people are glad to see you. You drive/ride in shiney red vehicles. You are in parades. You are giving rides to high school atheltic champship teams.

Why? No seriously I am asking WHY?

    • SC – I think you named it in your comment. It is a calling. Either you love it or you won’t do a good job in a dangerous field and training on you would be wasted. It is also a very select group of committed intelligent adventurous people who have to live and breathe this life. Thank goodness for them.
