  1. Winnecke is absolutely correct concerning our first responders. Our community should be recognizing those men and women that protects us. In that regard, we need to give them the best training, facilities, and equipment necessary to protect us and not only us but their lives as well in performing their duties. This means fiscal soundness. Next week begins the annual budget hearings. Do not be surprised to see reductions in healthcare dollars and higher participation by our first responders. Less dollars for safety equipment and training and of course less dollars for overtime. Do not be surprised to hear members on clowncil voicing support for our first responders but at the end of the day will vote for this out of balance budget. They will say that we can only reduce the budget but cannot increase, but they are wrong . . .Indiana law will allow councils to increase their budgets if directed towards safety issues, i.e. police and fire . . .hope Chuck and Larry understand this provision!!!

  2. Regarding name changes concerning Deaconess, this will be coming very soon . . .St. Mary’s a 125 year name in our City and now is St. Vincent . . .very soon that name will be Ascension Health and seemingly every Catholic Health facility nationwide will be Ascension Health.
