$30 Yearly Fee to Begin January 1st
We were recently notified that the City of Evansville will reduce their long-standing support of our Senior Center by $23,245 a year. This drastic reduction will go into effect January 1, 2016. The true cost of this budget cut cannot be absorbed by SWIRCA; we are forced to look for revenue streams from our senior population for the first time since 1974. To cover the Activity Center’s operating cost, we must start charging a $30 yearly membership fee.
For many of our seniors, their average monthly income is less than $1,000. And every dollar goes toward basic needs like food and medications, housing and utilities. We are asking our friends and supporters to consider sponsoring a senior and paying the $30 membership fee.
