State Archive, School For Deaf, And School For Blind To Get New Or Renovated Sites

  • INDIANAPOLIS—Gov. Eric Holcomb recently announced the future sites of two important Indiana projects.

The first project, a new state archives building, is to be located in downtown Indianapolis near the canal. The proximity to the Indiana State Museum and Indiana State Library provides partnership opportunities and chances to showcase the state’s history, Holcomb said.

This building will be approximately 59,000 square feet with $35 million from the General Assembly and a goal of beginning construction in fall 2022.

The second, a newly co-located site for the Indiana School for the Deaf and School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, is a “long overdue” partnership that will support both schools’ needs with safer facilities.

Both schools will be located on the renovated ISBVI campus near North College Ave. and East 75th St. These state projects were approved and accounted for by the General Assembly during the 2021 session’s budget.
