Southern Indiana Men’s and Women’s Track and Field kicked off day one of the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Men’s and Women’s Track and Field kicked off day one of the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships in Charleston, Illinois with multiple impressive prelim times and one event champion. The two squads combined to compete in five events in day one of the three-day championships.
 
Women
Freshman Zoe Seward (Rochester, Indiana) highlighted the day for the Screaming Eagles winning the 10,000-meter race. In her OVC Outdoor Championship debut, she finished with a phenomenal time of 36:14.25. Seward kept an incredible pace outlasting the second-place contender from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock by 11.03 seconds. The first-place finish scored ten points for the Eagles team score.

Junior Kati Hoerig (Prospect, Kentucky) and sophomore Micah Peals (Terre Haute, Indiana) finished behind Seward at 38:43.78 and 39:03.31. Junior Katie Winkler (Santa Claus, Indiana) earned an additional two points for the team score finishing seventh with a blazing time of 37:59.04.

Two Eagles qualified for the 1,500-meter finals with impressive prelims times. Sophomore Emily Rempe (Owensboro, Kentucky) finished fourth at 4:44.54 with a strong finish. Junior Emma Thompson (Mt.Veron, Indiana) sneaks into the finals at eleventh with a time of 4:50.62.

Men

Junior Brady Terry (Philpot, Kentucky) earned the last qualifying spot in the 1,500-meter dash with a prelim time of 4:02.17.

Freshman Alex Nolan (Evansville, Indiana) adds two points to the Eagles team score with a gritty seventh-place finish in the 10,000-meter race at 31.44.13. Team Scores
