On February 6, around 6:30 p.m., the Evansville Police Department was called to the parking lot of 2200 N. Seventh Ave. (Delaware Trace Apartments) for a shots fired call. Officers arriving in the area spoke to several tenants of the apartment complex who all stated they could hear several shots outside of their apartment.

Officers were able to locate several spent shell casings and glass from a vehicle in the parking lot. One witness observed a male on foot standing at the passenger window of a small passenger car. The witness went on to say that the vehicle sped off and they heard several shots.

At the time of this call, officers were unable to locate any victims or suspects.

Approximately 1 hour later, two juveniles showed up at a local hospital. One of the juveniles had a gunshot wound to an upper extremity. They told authorities they were in the parking lot of the Delaware Trace Apartments about an hour earlier when the suspect began shooting at their vehicle, striking the driver.

The victim is expected to survive her injuries. At this time there are no suspects in custody and the investigation is ongoing. If anyone knows anything about this shooting they are asked to contact the Evansville Police Department’s Detective Office at 812-436-4025, or contact the WeTip Line at 1-800-78-Crime.
