USI comes home Tuesday for 3-game homestand

DURHAM, N.C. – University of Southern Indiana Men’s Basketball concludes its three-game road swing in the Duke Blue Devil Challenge when it visits ninth-ranked Duke University Friday at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina. The game will air on the ACC Network at 5 p.m. (CST).

USI (1-5) is 0-2 in the first two games of the Challenge, losing a heartbreaker at La Salle University, 79-78, and a disappointing game at Bucknell University, 67-56. Sophomore guard AJ Smith (Edwardsville, Illinois) has led the Screaming Eagles on the road trip with 12.0 points and seven rebounds per contest.
 
Junior guard Jeremiah Hernandez (Chicago, Illinois) and junior forward Jack Mielke (Downers Grove, Illinois) follow with 11.5 points per game, while junior guard Jordan Tillmon (Pine Bluff, Arkansas) rounds out the double-digit scorers with 11.0 points per game.
 
For the season, Smith and Hernandez lead the Eagles with 12.3 points per game. Smith also has the team-lead in rebounds with 8.7 per outing.
 
Duke enters Friday’s game on a three-game winning streak, defeating Bucknell, 90-60, and La Salle, 95-66, in the Challenge. The Blue Devils started their winning streak with a 74-65 win over fourth-ranked Michigan State University in the neutral site State Farm Champions Classic in Chicago, Illinois.
 
Following Friday’s game, the Eagles return to the friendly surroundings of Screaming Eagles Arena next week to start a three-game homestand. USI begins the homestand Tuesday (November 28) by hosting East/West University at 7 p.m.
 
The homestand will continue December 2 when USI hosts Bowling Green State University and concludes December 6 versus Purdue University Ft. Wayne. Tipoff versus Bowling Green is 3 p.m., while tipoff against Ft. Wayne is slated for 7 p.m.
