Romney Chooses Paul Ryan of Wisconsin as Running Mate

Republican VP Candidate Paul Ryan with his “Path to Prosperity” aka the Ryan Budget

In a move that has widely been seen as bold and to carry some risk Republican candidate for President of the United States Mitt Romney has selected Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan as his candidate for Vice President.

Ryan who has been visible as a champion of sustainable limited government is the author of the republican budgets in the House of Representatives. His budgets have put forward solutions to the federal financial problems by modifying entitlement programs that have been a target of conservatives since they were passed by the Johnson Administration during the Great Society days.

If nothing else, the selection of Ryan should focus this election on the American economy and away personal attacks. The opponents of Mr. Romney who have been asserting that he has no plan will realize soon that he has one now. Mr. Romney has defacto endorsed the Ryan budget. It is now up to the voters to learn what the Ryan budget is (see link below for a small overview) to compare it to President Obama’s budget ideology and to make a choice between the two.

For those who have been looking for substantive differences between what a Romney Administration would be and what the Obama Administration has been and would continue to be, the Ryan Budget is the answer.

  1. At least now there will be one fiscal conservative on the Republican ticket. Excellent choice.

  2. Excellent choice. Someone who understands budgets and how the government should work. Someone everyone can get behind, regardless of their race or religion.

  3. Ryan is an unknown who does absolutely nothing to add any excitement to the rich, elite GOP presidential ticket. (As opposed to the last “unknown” the GOP picked, Sarah Palin, whose announcement at the least catapulted McCain in the polls).
Ryan will drive elderly voters to Obama for his stance on Medicare.
And he ain’t as pretty as Sarah, either.
    Lousy pick.
    Obama wins.

    • Always enjoy the liberal left’s criticism of the Republican candidates. Good for a laugh every time.

  4. Anyone who doesn’t have a decent grasp of who Paul Ryan is must be a cloistered nun, a trappist monk, or a blithering idiot. Anyone who doesn’t like Paul Ryan is in favor of bankrupting the United States government, as well as the taxpayers.
