    • The question of who voters think will win is one of the most dependable predictors of who will win. That being said, it seems to be a self-fulfilling prophecy, with those who think their candidate is going to lose not bothering to vote. I think we will see all Trump supporters vote whether or not they expect him to win, though.

  1. I see in yesterday’s IIT that “PCD” was doing some footwork on those “non-related to the topic” posts!
I’m glad to see someone doing the (“CCO won’t do”) job! Maybe CCO will open up a “Political Bullshit”
feature that would be listed at the very bottom of the page site where it belongs! This feature would be the only one allowed to “cut & paste”! Infractions would be a weeks ban per incident! What about it CCO?

      • No whine, just the facts about political cut and paste trash! 24/7 so call news channels is where need to go for this type of trash consumption!

  2. Actually, I wouldn’t mind getting rid of the Homestead Property Tax Exemption IF:

1.) The Vanderburgh County Asssessor used realistic appraisal values. Currently, if the City of Evansville or Vanderburgh County needs additional Property Tax revenue (bear in mind that a significant portion of your property tax goes to the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation and to the Evansville-Vanderburgh Public Library systems), the County Assessor just arbritarily jacks up the apprraised value of property located in the county. And the Assessor’s Office has made it damn near impossible to contest that valuation unless you decide to spend dollar$ from your pocket to hire a “Professional Appraiser” to appeal the appraisal. And then the Assessor just jacks the valuation up again the next year and the pricess has to be repeated.
2.) We actually got something for our property taxes – like sidewalks, streetlights, sewers, and park upkeep.

      • Maybe if McGinn would come forward with the Spending Plan that Dan Hedden of Umbaugh, CPA’s strongly recommended before he considers the Money Grab the people might be better persuaded. But, instead, he wants to increase our local option income taxes and eliminate the homestead and of course increase spending. Do not be surprised that the revisions to the Budget will increase spending not decrease.

      • I’ve been thinking about your beloved Mesker here lately Joe and see what you think about this.

Re-locate the Syrian refugees to Mesker Amphitheater which would bring on a federal renovation of gold laced chairs, twenty second century strobe lights and free hotdogs, then invite Ted Child Molester Nugent to perform in front of them until he shits in his pants again and no doubt, they’ll all be more than happy to return to their war torn country eliminating one of your greatest concerns but leaving Mesker in a better position of being re-born again.

Just a suggestion, but what say buddy?….

    • The law states that the assessments should be at the market price for each house. If you challenge an assessment with real defensible comps, you will prevail. I know because I have challenged assessments 7 times in Vanderburgh County and prevailed all 7 times. It is not even difficult.

      • I’ve challenged them too. And won. But now they won’t even consider using data compiled from the Assessor’s website (comparative assessments). You’re forced to use a,professoonal firm to prepare a “comparative analysis”. And if you are sucessful, then the assessor raises the assessed value the next year – escalation due to housing value inflatiion.

  3. At one tine there was a feature on the CCO called “Daily Off Topic Forum”. Don’t know if it still exists. If it does, that’s where the Trumpettes and Hilldydogs and Lirtle Johnsons should park their sorry souls and blog away with their inane blatter.

  4. “McGinn also announced Monday that he’s asked City Council attorney Joshua Claybourn to draft paperwork that would propose reducing the homestead property tax credit for homeowners from 8 percent to 6 percent. If approved, the move would increase city tax revenues by $525,000. He wants to see the exemption depleted by 2 percent every year “until it’s all gone.””

    • Thank you. I find the 538 calculation of electors odd. They do it in a semi proportional way and end up with partial electors that are an impossible situation.

RCP just flipped NC and NV to Trump making their no toss ups projection for the electoral college 272-266 in favor of Clinton. CO and VA are both at +3.5% for Clinton but the recent polls in CO have been Trump so that may flip in the next couple of poll releases. Virginia is an incumbent state because of how many government workers in Northern Virginia will need to find a job if the party in charge changes. Washington suburbs are blue these days but the rest of the state is as red as Robert E. Lee’s blood.

Which brings up the two wild card states. First is NM where if native son Johnson wins the election is headed to the House of Representatives. Then there is NH which is a decidedly Trump demographic of white blue collar workers surrounded by a sea of blue New Englanders. This is going to be most interesting.

My dream is that neither of the horses asses we are forced to choose between wins and the House elects a moderate republican like John Kasich.

      • I share your dream, but mine is a bit further out than yours. I dream of Bernie being the alternative choice.

You’re right about the odd way Silver apportions states that don’t break up their electoral vote. This is going to be the most interesting vote to analyze in recent history. I think this is really going to be a test of the worth of campaign advertising spending. I think another underrated factor is the influence of Gary Johnson not only in New Mexico, but on surrounding states like Arizona and Nevada.

        • I was looking through the polls that make up the averages of a few states. One that stuck out was Colorado. Hillary had a good long run of double digit leads. The only poll that has been taken during September however has Trump at +4. There was one from 8/31 that had Hillary at +5. All of the others are obsolete by now. Colorado looks like it will be highly contested.

  5. Democrats whining to leave there candidate alone this morning. Much easier than trying to defend her. Free speech only applies to democrats.

    • She is in full panic mode. This latest pandering should go over like her “HOT SAUCE” comments.

    • Lollllllllllll………..it is without a doubt her STD has infected her brain…………..Karma…………hillary Clinton is one sick bitch……….same for barry hussein the great black flop race card race card…..blah blah blah………..……………

      • Hey al, venereal disease if left untreated can cause blindness, brain damage, heart damage and death

Your ranting shows us the brain damage

Any estimates on how soon you come down with the last symptom?

        • “shows us brain damage”…………who in the hell is “us”……………you are without a doubt one brain dead libtard………………lolllllllllllllllllllll…..

    • Actually that’s nothing but wishful thinking Press. Hillary is way ahead in the real polls. She is pulling away again from Trump. He screwed up this week with his trumpisms. It’s going to be a Hillary Clinton Victory Come November.

  6. I donts feels no ways tiaaard……..after last week harry clinton lied again to the black folks………..she is ways too tiaarrrrd……………..

  7. Check this out. The punk that erased the emails for Hillary who ignored a congressional subpoena after being granted immunity, went into a chat room to learn how to scrub the disk clean. He has since tried to erase the chain, but someone screen scraped it and has permanent record of it. Look at the dates of when he was doing this. Day after the Benghazi hearings, right after email story came to light, etc. If he was not working on orders from Clinton staffers, I will jump into a cold pool. If they get that little shit to testify he will bring down the whole bunch of them. Don’t be surprised if he shoots himself in the back of the head several times soon.
