We hope that today’s “READERS FORUM” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way.

WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND TODAY?

Todays “Readers’ Poll” question is: Do you feel that Student loan origination fees are nothing more than a hidden tax that burdens students?

  1. Student loans should be based on the value of the pursued degree. Home loans, car loans and some other loans are based on the value of the collateral, a student loan should be no different. If a student is not capable for whatever reason to complete a program and a college or university keeps that student in that program and the student fails the college should be responsible for the loan. Colleges and universities need to be held accountable for their greed or desire to reach a student level with students that can’t or won’t complete their course of study. A garbage degree should only be allowed for full pay or full ride students. A garbage degree should be treated as the scam it is and be subject to the lemon law. College professors on the taxpayers dime should be required to teach full time.
