“READERS FORUM”

11

We hope that today’s “READERS FORUM” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way.

HERE’S WHAT’S ON OUR MIND TODAY

We are told that state law now allows restaurants and entertainment establishments to apply for a Liquor License if they are within 3,000 feet from a waterway.

We just learned that the Executive Director of the Evansville/Vanderburgh County Building Authority, Dave Rector now manages 20 properties within Vanderburgh County. All we can say about this is thanks to Dave Rector for a job well done.

The Democratic At-Large City Council candidate Kaitlin Moore Morley’s political statement on her campaign mailer has caused some concerns among small business people. Her political mailer stated that “she wants to ensure that economic incentives go to companies that pay their employees at least $15 per hour.”

Oh, please take time and read the new “LEFT JAB, RIGHT JAB” article, sit back, and watch CCO posters Ronald Reagan and Joe Biden intellectually slug it out on national issues that might interest you.

WHAT”S ON YOUR MIND TODAY?

Todays “Readers Poll” question is: Do you think that the Republicans will take control of the Evansville City Council?

Please go to our link of our media partner Channel 44 News located in the upper right-hand corner of the City-County Observer so you can get the up-to-date news, weather, and sports. We are pleased to provide obituaries from several area funeral homes at no costs.  Over the next several weeks we shall be adding additional obituaries from other local funeral homes.  Please scroll down the paper and you shall see a listing of them.

  1. “We are told that State Law now allows restaurants and entertainment establishment to apply for a Liquor License if they are within 3,000 feet from a waterway”.
Not quite a completely true statement. The facilty needs to be located in a designated “economic improvement” zone and while there is a fee for said license; it is a significantly reduced fee as compared to similar restaurants and bars located outside of the designated area. In addition, these special permits aren’t included in the restricted number allocated to counties in Indiana based upon county population.
This “special permit” process was touted and promoted as a method to encourage growth of restaurants and bars in the downtown Evansville area, in particular the Main Street area.

Thanks for the additional information on this issue. We stand corrected.

  2. Dear Editors

Why is someone breaking the rules ALREADY when you clearly stated on Monday that they were supposed to use a forum created for this, a forum that is new today with the latest section?

“If they decide to make any future posts on the “Readers Forum” or “IS IT TRUE” columns we expect them to stay on topic”

Are you going to allow “Readers Forum” and “Is It True” to once again have anything allowed? This does not seem fair and is NOT on topic remotely. In fairness, this should be removed

Thanks. You’re correct. We just took Joe Biden post down because he posted his remarks in today’s Readers Forum.

He will have to report his remarks in the “Right Jab and Left Jab” section.

      Thanks for reading the CCO.

      • Editors:

You folks ROCK! We all knew that, but I figured you need to be told how awesome you are

    • I didn’t have a problem with JB’s post regarding the RDC meetings. I saw it as a valid question instead of the vapid, incessant rhetoric normally spewed by JB and RR.

      • DuncesWithWomen

Try and catch up and read what the editorial staff wrote on off-topic posting

“Thanks. You’re correct. We just took Joe Biden post down because he posted his remarks in today’s Readers Forum. He will have to report his remarks in the “Right Jab and Left Jab” section”

This has nothing to do with the RDC meetings

We realize you have ReaganDereangemontSyndrome, but maybe you can see a doctor for some professional help

  3. “We just learned that the Executive Director of the Evansville/Vanderburgh County Buiding Authority, Dave Rector now manages 20 properties within Vanderburgh County. All we can say about this is thanks to Dave Rector for a job well done.”

Don’t forget that Dave Rector was one of the leading voices expressing BS regarding “problems” that supposedly existed at Roberts Stadium which led to its destruction. And you can include allowing Mesker Amphitheater to deteriorate on his resume also.
Rector has been a toady for both Weinzappfel and Winnecke.

  4. I hope the CCO was being sarcastic about Dave Rector. I can’t think of any way he be doing a worse job than what he is doing. Did anyone see where the tree cutting service is saying the Bicentennial Tree removal was no accident?

  5. Kaitlin Moore Morley is the most honest democrat running. Business people should be concerned about any democrat running for office. She slipped up, did not mean to say that businesses paying less than $15 an hour would be punished, but she did. It was not a slip up, this is part of the hidden agenda of liberals. Wonder what her take is on gun confiscation and banning the 1st amendment, that’s a rhetorical question because we all know where liberals stand on this issue.
