SNEGAL: “Sneaky but Legal”

IS IT TRUE September 11, 2012

IS IT TRUE that Roberts Stadium may not have hosted the Shrine Circus last year and it may never host the Shrine Circus again as it did for some 50 years but the CIRCUS IS ALIVE AND WELL IN THE OFFICIAL DISCUSSIONS REGARDING ROBERTS STADIUM?…that Mayor Winnecke is now spinning, rationalizing, and in all probability outright lying about the 400% increase in the price for demolition?…that President Clinton does not have a thing on Mayor Winnecke when it comes to telling a big lie about Ms. Lewinsky?…the Democrat spin machine that has the nerve to tell us all that the country is better off than it was four years ago in utter denial or defiance of hard facts has nothing on Mayor Winnecke’s fairy tale about the cost to demolish Roberts Stadium?…this man must think the people of Evansville are complete imbeciles to try and convince anyone that the City of Evansville clearly believed that the number was $200,000 for this task and intentionally lead the people of this town to believe that $200,000 was a valid and comprehensive quote from Klenck Construction?…given the $1 Million demolition cost and the $8 Million cost for the proposed dog and skateboard park the only logical approach is to auction Roberts Stadium off to the highest bidder even if it only brings $1?…putting Roberts Stadium on the tax roll and into private hands is the only thing that the City of Evansville can afford to do with respect to Roberts Stadium?…that not only should there be an 8th grade ISTEP requirement for the City Council but it should be a requirement for Mayor of Evansville as well?…this is dumber than the Earthcare Energy deal and that one took the cake?…this dog and skateboard park for $10 Million is even dumber than spending $20 Million for 8 little league ball fields that other cities routinely build for $5 Million or less?…that it seems sometimes like the abundance of meth labs in the City of Evansville must be tainting the air for local government?

IS IT TRUE that it’s been alleged that some account balances for the City of Evansville needs to be reconciled. … if this statement is true as many Civic Center Moles are telling us then the City of Evansville may have audit problems with the State Board of Accounts? …if the city of Evansville does not have an accurate check of account balances then how in the world can they craft a detailed city budget for 2013? …there is not even an approved 2012 City of Evansville budget posted on the shiny new website which does have better fluff than the old website even though the substance is still the same?

IS IT TRUE Metro Louisville may be asked to chip in more money to cover debt payments on the KFC Yum! Center?…the Louisville Arena Authority voted Monday morning to alert the city it may need to tap into the city’s maximum contribution of $9.8 million?…the city is currently slated to pay $6.5 million to the Arena Authority?…the reason for the shortfall in Louisville is due to the collections from the TIF district coming up very short with revenue?…looking around at the YUM Center there are a number of businesses that have started up in that TIF district but it still was less than half of the projections used to justify the construction of the YUM Center which houses the #2 men’s college basketball programs in America for both men and women, numerous big time concerts, and other events?…that there are six words to describe the future of the Ford Center in Downtown Evansville which is pretty much a baby brother project in every way compared to the YUM Center?…those six words are tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock?…within a year we will all know if the Ford Center will be needing to panhandle into other forms of financing to make ends meet when the debt starts to need servicing?

VHS Pet of the Week: “Walter”

1

Walter is a golden retriever mix. He is 1 year and 3 months old.

I’m a really nice boy and have been described as very active, playful, and a cuddlebug. I’ve lived with both a cat and dog, like car rides, and know sit and stay. I’m still a young guy so I’ll need some consistent and positive reinforcement for my good behaviors in order to become the best family member I can be. And I’ll really love getting some regular exercise and spending some quality time just hanging out with my new family in my new home.

His adoption fee includes his neuter, age appropriate vaccines, a microchip and a bag of food.

Plan to Reduce Energy Demand and Consumption Unveiled at EVSC School Board Meeting

10

The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation Board of School Trustees heard information at tonight’s (Sept. 10) regular meeting regarding a four-year proposal by Cripe Energy Advisors to help the EVSC potentially save between $7.5 and $11 million over the next 10 years by becoming more sustainable in its energy usage. Cripe’s collaboration with the EVSC will create a plan to reduce the demand for energy, reduce energy supply costs for all EVSC facilities, and help to create the right conditions in energy management that will enable the EVSC community to monitor and manage its energy usage.

EVSC’s current processes of analysis, performance reviews, bill tracking and budgeting, together with Cripe’s IT solution will provide synergy for an effective and efficient energy system which will far exceed the four years Cripe will be partnering with the EVSC – putting in place a team of individuals who can continue deeper looks into these outcomes. There will be no fee for the continued use of the model.

Estimated cost for the plan will be $376,000. Repayment will be a phased approach based on the percentage of the savings in each of the four years in the agreement.

The proposal calls for several components:

Phase 1 (Months 1-3) – Will include a comprehensive energy audit of all facilities. Data will be collected for the past 24 months and be input into the model. Facilities will be inspected to identify the areas for the greatest energy demand. This will help develop a road map and serve as the baseline.

Phase 2 (Months 4-36) – Will be devoted to implementation of the energy master plan and managing the procurement process. Negotiations are completed for utility rates, supplies, water and sewer rates. All facilities will be benchmarked against metrics determined by EVSC and data will be tracked in the model to analyze performance. There will be demand-side energy projects (building system optimization) that do not require capital expenditures.

Phase 3 (Months 37-48) – Will be devoted to continued energy auditing, implementation of the energy procurement strategies, solutions and sustainability. All data collection and monitoring devices will be in place and Cripe will work with the EVSC energy team to help develop the skills necessary to collect, analyze, measure and verify usage data, as well as manage the energy procurement process – through the web-based program.

It is estimated there will be a 10-30% reduction in supply costs as well as 10-20% reduction in energy demand.

IS IT TRUE September 11, 2011

The Mole #??

IS IT TRUE that the folks from the “KEEP EVANSVILLE BEAUTIFUL” group have requested that the City of Evansville fund them at the $50,000 level for 2013? …that last year the City of Evansville contributed zero tax dollars to help fund the activities at KEB for 2012?

IS IT TRUE that we are wondering when the owners of the McCurdy Hotel will begin to start renovation of this historic downtown building into condos?…in spite of the word on the street and even from Civic Center Moles in the know that the Vanderburgh County Assessors website still lists City Centre Properties LLC of Carmel, IN as the owner of record?…the Assessors website also is still showing that two installments of property taxes are delinquent in the amount of $21,525.84 including penalties?… that either some of our Moles are incorrect or the Vanderburgh County Assessor’s office is recording title transfers at a snail’s pace?…to be an research effective tool transactions need to be recorded in a timely manner?

IS IT TRUE when the Winnecke Administration agreed to give members of the police department a 3% raise for 2013 they also created a situation where the expectation of the Evansville City Council became to give a 3% raise for 2013 to all of our city employees? …if the city doesn’t have an accurate accounting of the funds they have in major accounts that we wonder how can they guarantee anyone a raise for 2013?… the only answer available is for City Council members make major cuts in Mayor Winnecke’s 2013 budget requests?

IS IT TRUE it might be time for Evansville City Council to draw up a city ordinance requiring that all non-city organizations that receive funding from the city should file a single entity report called “A Yellow Book” audit? …that Evansville City Council should make the requirement target funding figure over $50,000?…we suspect that 5th Ward City Councilman and Budget Director, John Friend-CPA knows all about “Yellow BOOK” audits and could explain this to other council members in lay terms?…if adopted by council this would make all organizations receiving taxpayers monies more accountable?

IS IT TRUE that the broken ice machine located at hose house #7 was finally repaired for $500?…that the newly repaired machine was reinstalled at fire station #7 and never produced one ice cube?…that the new Fire Chief then purchased 2 used ice machines recently from the Robert’s Stadium Auction? …when he brought the machines back from the auction to install in select fire stations they didn’t work either?…that during this entire ice machine fiasco the new Evansville Fire Chief had 2 brand new ice machines stored at the Fire Department Administration building waiting to be installed somewhere?…the only thing we can say about these transactions is “Who’s on First”?

IS IT TRUE that the Teacher’s Union in Chicago waited until school started to call a strike?…there are 400,000 students in the Chicago Public Schools that are now out of a place to go during the day when they are supposed to be in the care of their teachers for the purpose of learning?…the City of Chicago has been having a record setting year for murder this year and that murders have been particularly high in young people?…if this move by the Teacher’s Union was designed to endear themselves to the public at large it is failing big time?…there are plenty of people from Chicago who are fed up with this tired old tactic and would welcome someone like Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to come to Chicago and fire the whole bunch of these self-serving narcissists and replace them with new teachers who are teaching for the right reasons and would not turn 400,000 school kids into the streets over money?

IS IT TRUE at the last night Evansville City Council the City Controller Russ Lloyd, Jr. stated that he is predicting that Ford Center will lose $341,000 in 2013?…that City Controller Russ LLoyd, Jr. also stated that the city has no idea what the total profit that the FORD CENTER has made so far this year?

GM losing $49,000 for every Chevy Volt they Sell

0

Nearly two years after the introduction of the path-breaking plug-in hybrid, GM is still losing as much as $49,000 on each Volt it builds, according to estimates provided to Reuters by industry analysts and manufacturing experts.

Cheap Volt lease offers meant to drive more customers to Chevy showrooms this summer may have pushed that loss even higher. There are some Americans paying just $5,050 to drive around for two years in a vehicle that cost as much as $89,000 to produce.

The lack of interest in the car has prevented GM from coming close to its early, optimistic sales projections. Discounted leases as low as $199 a month helped propel Volt sales in August to 2,831, pushing year-to-date sales to 13,500, well below the 40,000 cars that GM originally had hoped to sell in 2012.

The weak sales are forcing GM to idle the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant that makes the Chevrolet Volt for four weeks from September 17, according to plant suppliers and union sources. It is the second time GM has had to call a Volt production halt this year.

GM stock closed today at $21.48 per share down slightly yet still over $30 per share below where the US Government needs the stock to trade to break even on the bailout.
