Friends Kip Moore and Kacey Musgraves Join The 40-Plus City North American Trek
Evansville, Ind. – Seven-time GRAMMY award-winning trio Lady Antebellum has announced the first leg of their headlining TAKE ME DOWNTOWN TOUR 2013. The group has invited Kip Moore and Kacey Musgraves to join the arena tour kicking off Nov. 8 in Southaven, MS and running through December. Fans can purchase tickets and special VIP experiences beginning Sept. 13. Visit www.ladyantebellum.com for the most updated on-sale information and www.cidentertainment.com/ladyantebellum for VIP opportunities.
The tour will come to the Ford Center in Evansville on Sunday, November 10. Tickets will go on sale Friday, September 13.
“We spent almost every day last year backstage writing for our album GOLDEN, so we were really focused on writing songs that would connect with the fans in these
arenas. We definitely learned a lot about ourselves as live performers and the type of catalog we wanted to have so that we could go out and try to give the fans the best show they’ve ever experienced,” explains Lady A’s Charles Kelley. “All of that was the jumping off point for this tour, and now it’s time to take it to the next level.”
Last year, Lady A hosted over one million fans across the globe in 11 countries on their first headlining world tour, which earned them Billboard Touring’s “Breakthrough Award,†CMA’s “International Artists Achievement Award†and will accept the “Jim Reeves
International Award†at this fall’s ACM Honors. The shows were inspirational and critics praised the band’s “youthful exuberance and unending energy.â€

The harmony-based trio Lady Antebellum continues to reaffirm the very beginnings of Lady Antebellum by focusing on deft songwriting and fresh uses of their talents, which was at the heart of what drew them together in the first place. Since its 2006 inception, Lady A has won the “Vocal Group of the Year†honor from both the CMA and from the ACM’s three times in a row and sold over 11 million albums worldwide. The trio has taken seven trips to No. one on the country radio charts, earned five Platinum singles including their recent “Downtown†and has been awarded with seven GRAMMY awards including the all-genre “Record of the Year†and “Song of the Year.†In the end, the mix of their road experiences, songwriting and creative partnership have allowed the magic to remain – because they have kept the focus on the music.
Platinum-selling artist Kip Moore’s current Top Five hit “Hey Pretty Girl†follows two consecutive No. one songs off his debut album UP ALL NIGHT, which was the best selling debut album from any country artist released last year. His first No. one single, “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck,†held the top spot on both charts for two weeks making him the first solo artist in four years to have a debut album’s first single go No. one for multiple weeks. Moore has already sold out dozens of headlining shows this year, often in just minutes and recently played his first stadium show as part of CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock.
Nashville-based singer/songwriter, Kacey Musgraves released her debut album Same Trailer Different Park this past spring to massive critical acclaim and recognition. The album debuted at No. one on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart making her the first solo female in five years to open at No. one with a rookie release. She’s received ACM, CMT and Teen Choice Award nominations and her Top 10 single “Merry Go ‘Round” was recently certified Gold and follow up single “Blowin’ Smoke” is currently climbing the charts.
Flight of WWII Heroes
The Freedom Heritage Museum and Collings Foundation are working side by side to honor four WWII Veterans from Evansville, Indiana and Owensboro, Kentucky with a very special flight in two very rare WWII aircraft on Friday, August 2, 2013.
Captain Walter Sutton, Squadron B-24 Bombardier, 2nd Lieutenant Maurice Boultinghouse, B-17 Co-pilot, Master Sergeant Lloyd Hadley, B-24 Flight Chief and Captain Raymond Schureck, P-47 fighter pilot, will join the Wings of Freedom tour – flying one last mission. They will fly 200 miles cross-country in the B-17 Flying Fortress and B-24 Liberator heavy bombers (the same type aircraft they flew in combat some 70 years ago) and land in Evansville, Indiana at approximately 2:00 pm CT (19:00 Zulu) on August 2, 2013.
In addition, Judy Morton, whose family operated Hoosier Cardinal, will be on board the flight to represent the Evansville companies and workers that produced over 300 items to support the war effort during WWII. Hoosier Cardinal produced the mobile gun turret domes for the B-17 and B-24 bombers and earned five Army-Navy Productivity “E” Awards during WWII. Less than 4% of all the U.S. manufacturers producing war materials received an “E” Award.
This is a rare event that follows the history of these WWII Veterans and their home front supporters from their service some 70 years ago to current emotional reflections on this time of sacrifice, honor and perseverance.
The general public is encouraged to come out to welcome and cheer our own WWII heroes as they complete their last mission. The veterans will be available for interviews with the media. A story worth covering – interviews like this are few and far between.

McGladrey Final Invoice: Dated March 24, 2013

The City County Observer would like to make the McGladrey Invoice in the amount of $112,615.75 available for our readers to examine. We must point out that the so called draft report that has been withheld from the City Council and the public is dated April 8, 2013 which is consistent with an invoice dated March 24th that was stamped as recieved by the Controller’s office on April 1, 2013 (Fool’s Day).
Sources have advised us that the differences in the so called “draft” and the report issued last week are mainly in the language used to describe inefficiencies and shortcomings of the City of Evansville in the critical area of Information Technology. Neither document is flattering and both clearly show a path to acceptability that the City was not on, is not doing, and may not even be capable of implementing.
The real question is if the April 8th document that was billed for on March 24th as the “Delivery of Final Assessment and Executive Overview”, then why is that document being withheld on the basis of not being public information? The next question is will there be another bill for the sanitized version of the second installment of a “Final” study? Is it true that the CCO truly wonders why the City Council and the people of Evansville are only allowed to see the “sunshine and lollipops” version of this study which still in an indictment of incompetence for the City of Evansville’s management of IT and its capacity to even understand what it takes to implement this critical tool in an even acceptable manner.
Here is a link to the bill as submitted by McGladrey on March 24, 2013.
