AG Zoeller seeks to find rightful owners of decades-old Savings Bonds
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Savings Bonds – once used as a way to save for the future or as a meaningful gift for children and grandchildren, have almost become a thing of the past. The historic nature of the Savings Bond is cause for many becoming lost and ending up in the possession of unclaimed property divisions across the nation. The Indiana Attorney General’s Unclaimed Property Division is no exception. Indiana is working hard to return the bonds that they have in their possession, however the process has been difficult as these bonds have outdated information that consists of names and addresses that are at least 27 years old, and in some cases as old as 74 years old.
In an effort to find the rightful owners of this unclaimed money, a public notice has been placed in each of the major newspapers across the state that lists 840 bond owners of 1,772 U.S. Savings Bonds with a total matured value of $722,266.99.
In the last month, the Indiana Unclaimed Property Division has created over 2,000 claims for matured bonds.
Zoeller encourages all Hoosiers to review the list and pass it along to friends and family, remembering that in many cases these bonds will likely have passed by inheritance to persons other than the original owner.
“It’s a big challenge to return the proceeds of these Savings Bonds to the rightful owners, the hardworking citizens of Indiana,” Zoeller said.  “The fact that these old bonds lack complete information has made it more difficult to find the owners, but since it comes from investments that Hoosiers made in our country it makes the effort very worthwhile.â€
This effort is part of a larger initiative to assist Hoosiers in obtaining millions of dollars in matured U.S. Savings Bonds that are currently being held by the United States Treasury. Currently, the United States Treasury is not required to turn over unclaimed U.S Savings Bonds unless the State obtains title of the bonds. With the necessary resources to return the unclaimed property already in place, Indiana is seeking a court judgment to take title of the matured U.S. Savings Bonds in our possession, as well as unredeemed, matured bonds issued to Indiana residents.  This step is necessary for the Unclaimed Property Division to include these bonds in the State’s unclaimed property database, giving Hoosiers the opportunity to claim and collect their money.
The Indiana Attorney General’s Office has a proven track record in returning unclaimed money to the rightful owners. Through extensive outreach, advertising and a searchable database, a record 108,477 properties totaling more than $88.5 million in unclaimed property was returned to Hoosiers in 2015 and a total $610 million has been returned since 2000.
If you believe you are entitled to the above mentioned unclaimed U.S Savings Bonds, either by ownership or as an heir, please visit www.IndianaUnclaimed.gov to begin a claim. The Unclaimed Property database can be searched 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. The Unclaimed Property Division’s toll-free number is 1-866-IN-CLAIM (1-866-462-5246). This is a free service of the Indiana Attorney General’s Office.

Stanley Hall School
As the city began to expand east, a new school was built in the newly-developing Bayard Park area in 1901 because of overcrowded schools downtown. By 1915, the neighborhood boasted a school, a Carnegie library, and so many residences that the school, originally called Chandler Street School, was enlarged and renamed Stanley Hall School in honor of G. Stanley Hall, a prominent American educator. This image shows the new addition, as well as the library in the distance, soon after both buildings opened. After redistricting, the school closed in 1972.
Two Arrested on Charges Involving Narcotics Dealing and Child Neglect
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two suspects on charges of Narcotics dealing. Mr. Damien Shrode and Mr. Zachary Pribble were taken into custody on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 1316 N. Second Avenue. Deputies had been conducting surveillance at that location when they observed drug dealing activity occurring between the residents of the home and the occupant of a black 2002 GMC Envoy parked in the street.
Deputies detained Mr. Shrodes at his vehicle and recovered 11 grams of suspected methamphetamine, nearly 17 grams of suspected marijuana and $2920.00 from him. A search of the vehicle revealed a silver Ruger .357 revolver and over 110 grams of suspected marijuana.
Deputies recovered over 1,880 grams of suspected synthetic marijuana from Mr. Pribble. A search of Mr. Pribble’s home revealed trace amounts of marijuana all over the floor, furniture and inside a pack-and-play baby bed. Two scales were found inside a children’s play kitchen set along with a marijuana grinder. The kitchen was filled with dirty dishes with old food on the counter top. Piles of trash were observed lying all over the floor of the home. In the upstairs bedroom deputies observed piles of old food that had become infested with bugs.
Both Mr. Shrodes and Mr. Pribble are lodged at the Vanderburgh County Jail with a $50,000 and $20,000 cash bond respectively.

IS IT TRUE MARCH 2, 2016
IS IT TRUE the real name for “TIF FUNDS” should be called “POLITICALÂ SLUSH FUNDS”?
IS IT TRUE we wonder why DMD Director Kelly Coures didn’t tell City Council that crime is running rampant on North Main before they voted for the $18 million dollar “Bike Trail” project located in that area?
IS IT TRUE last Saturday George Lumley (The Blight Fighter) made an extremely informative presentation to the local Tea Party organization about the alleged misuse of Federal TARP funds by DMD? Â …he also presented detailed information about the alleged financial misconduct of the Evansville Brownfields Corp?…we urge Mr. Lumley immediately turn over his information over to State and Federal agencies so they can investigate his allegations of misuse of taxpayers money by DMD and Evansville Brownfields Corp?
IS IT TRUE we are anxious to see if the new owner of the soon to be launched Professional Hockey team agreed to the same terms that Evansville IceMen had? Â …we hear that Evansville IceMen paid the city a $2 per patron fee, Â gave all the food and beverage income to the Ford Center and paid the City $11,000 per game to rent the facility?
IS IT TRUE every time we turn around we bump into Dr Richard Moss candidate for United States  Congressman in the Republican primary?  …if hard work is an important criteria to getting elected to public office then Dr. Moss should be elected as our next Congressmen?
IT TRUE Brad Ellsworth of Vectren is going to present a proposed plan to install additional utility poles in the Historic District ?  …he will present Vectren proposed plans to install new period lighting to the Preservation Commission at a Meeting next Monday, March 7 at 5:30 pm at the Civic Center?  …the reason for this presentation is to answer questions concerning the installation of new utility poles in that area?  …didn’t Vectren help fund and install new utilities poles in the Historic District  a couple years back? ...didn’t members of a neighborhood group help pay for the period. lights and poles a couple years back?  …we wonder if they are doing similar this time around to help defray the costs of installing additional period lighting in that area?  …we wonder why Vectren Corp isn’t spending their time and resources in improving the lighting in the less fortunate areas of the city?
IS IT TRUE attached is a post by CCO blogger Meter Maid In reply to elkaybee we found interesting?  …attached are the comments made by Meter Maid?  …”If Winnecke & Company had reported the City’s Financial Statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) like Indy, Ft. Wayne and South Bend, the General Fund would have been presented in the correct matter. In addition, instead of the General Fund being falsely reported as a positive $307,000 the advance from the water dept of $2,440,000 (which by the way, Friend was the only councilman that discovered the midnight raid on the Utility treasury) and the failure to pay the General Fund portion of the medical bill of $3,700,0000, the General Fund would have properly stated a negative $5.9 mil. But, wait a minute, Russ in addition to the medical bill, failed to pay $5.1 million in vendor bills as of end of 2014 compared to $2.3 million at the beginning of the 2014 year. This my friends would have added to the deficit the difference of $2.3 mil.lion. So, the General Fund is actually negative at the beginning of 2015 by $8.1 million.”
IS IT TRUE to paraphrase Thomas Jefferson, “When the people fear DMD and Evansville Brownsfields Corp board members there is tyranny. … When DMD and Evansville Brownsfields Corp board members fear the people there is freedom.â€

WE CAN TRUST THE FBI, RIGHT?
WE CAN TRUST THE FBI, RIGHT?
by Will Durst
This huge brouhaha between the FBI and Apple has escalated into a battle royale between the righteous and the wicked. And, as often happens, both sides are claiming to be on the side of the angels. With so many good guys in attendance, it’s amazing that world-wide badness is still so pervasive. But you can’t blame television for everything.
The Feds want Apple to create specialized software in order to bypass the auto-erase feature of the San Bernardino terrorists’ iPhone. They don’t just want access to a backdoor, they want Apple to design a backdoor, construct it then hand them the only key. And snacks. They want snacks too.
It’s the age-old battle between security and privacy, safety and confidentiality, minty freshness and chocolaty richness. But once breached, there’s no going back. It’s a slope more slippery than a caffeinated eel in a bathtub full of bacon grease. No such thing as a virgin repair kit, you know.
The FBI says they only need to do this once. Yeah, right. Federal investigators in 11 other jurisdictions have already filed motions seeking access to suspects’ iPhone data. A Manhattan DA has 175 phones he wants to crack. Get ready to open a Pandora’s Box of 4th amendment violations, full of venomous snakes ready to spring out and bite us in the butt. Repeatedly.
The problem is, you let one government into your back door and every other government is going to break land-speed records to stand in line to do the same and not all of them are familiar with the concept of lubricant, if you catch my drift. Besides, no global company, not even one located in Cupertino, California, can say yes to Obama and nyet to Putin. China? North Korea? Seriously?
The FBI says we need to trust them. Isn’t this the same FBI that vowed for years they weren’t conducting illegal surveillance on Americans until it was revealed they were? And the same FBI that offered flawed testimony in thousands of court cases resulting in prosecutions, some of which led to executions? You mean that FBI? I wouldn’t trust that FBI as far as I could throw two handfuls of glue.
And the fallacy of the backdoor code remaining secure is so laughable it should be green-lighted its own sitcom on Comedy Central. The claim that nobody else would be able to get their hands on this technology is either woefully ignorant or further demonstration of an ineptitude approaching that of a Sherman tank in the upper branches of an elm tree.
The only way to guarantee security in this, the 7th year of the 2nd decade of the 21st century, is through a self-imposed sentence of solitary confinement. The term “internet privacy†is like saying “transparent cement†or “blazing snow.†Last October a 16-year-old kid hacked CIA Director John Brennan’s personal email. Why doesn’t the FBI hire him?
Sides are being chosen. Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg supports Apple while Bill Gates has come down on the side of the FBI. He would. And finally, supporting the FBI’s position, the walking contradiction known as Donald Trump called for a patriotic boycott of Apple in a tweet. That he sent out on his iPhone. You can’t make stuff up like this.

Dr. Richard Moss, Congressional Candidate, Republican Party Presents Conservative Plan for the 8th DistrictÂ
A Plan For Southwest Indiana:  Legislative Agenda For Indiana’s 8th District
by Dr. Richard Moss Congressional Candidate, Republican Party
(Jasper, IN) – Today, at a meeting with supporters, Dr. Moss discussed his plan to present to the voters of Indiana’s 8th Congressional District to return conservative values and policies to SW Indiana. For nearly six years now we have been represented by a big spending, liberal Republican, a loyal foot soldier of the Republican Establishment, who has disappointed his constituents at every turn. Dr. Moss is an Ear Nose and Throat Surgeon from Jasper, IN.
“I have a simple Fourteen Point Plan that addresses the major national issues affecting the 8th district, the state, and the country.â€
#1Â JOB CREATION & ECONOMIC GROWTH
We need to bring our corporations back from abroad and encouraging companies here by lowering and simplifying taxes, reducing regulations, and providing an optimal business climate to entice businesses to come to Indiana and put our people back to work with good paying jobs. I embrace the American Free Enterprise system and vigorously reject Socialism.
#2Â ENERGY
I stand strong in support of environmentally sound development of our natural resources, including coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear energy. Our energy industry creates good paying jobs, keeps fuel and energy costs down, ensures energy independence, makes Indiana more competitive, and provides revenue for necessary state programs and infrastructure.
#3Â IMMIGRATION
I embrace a Pro-American Immigration Policy. I support deportation of illegal aliens, e-verify, and exit-entry visa tracking. I would repeal the Immigration Act of 1965 and end chain migration based on family reunification. I would build a wall and secure our border. Border security is national security. I oppose amnesty and birthright citizenship. No driver’s licenses, in-state tuition, or access to our welfare programs. I would end the waves of immigrants entering the country that take jobs from Americans and lower wages, and increase burdens on schools, healthcare, prisons, criminal justice, law enforcement, our safety net, and our local communities and states. Immigration is not an entitlement or right for immigrants. It exists to benefit the American people.
#4Â HEALTH CARE REFORM
As a doctor, I know that our current medical system is in need of reform. But I oppose Obamacare and any other attempt to nationalize our medical system. We need free market reform based on competition and choice. We need health care that is portable, affordable, and personal.
#5Â AGRICULTURE
Indiana has up to 70% of its land under cultivation. Corn, soybeans, and tomatoes are produced in bounty. Hog farming is most prominent. Maintaining this elevated level of agricultural production is essential. Reducing regulations and lowering taxes and allowing our farmers to compete and export will help.
#6Â EDUCATION
Our educational institutions must provide students with marketable skills and classical education that will enable them to find jobs through vocational training and instruction or to enter and succeed in college and find productive employment after. I support our community colleges that provide one and two-year associate degrees at reduced cost that are market or job oriented. I encourage parent-teacher based education that is state and locally controlled.
#7Â BALANCED BUDGET
I endorse a balanced budget, and would limit federal spending to a fixed low percentage of the economy or GDP. I would start by reducing spending to pre-Obama 2008 levels other than for increases in inflation and population. I support zero-based budgeting and sunset provisions on all programs to ensure a lean, effective government that, like regular Americans, must live within its means. Our national debt and unfunded liabilities threaten our nation and are unsustainable.
#8Â STRONG TRADITIONAL FAMILY VALUES
A strong, moral culture centered on the traditional, intact married family and faith are key elements of our Hoosier and American values and essential to a flourishing civil society.
#9Â A UNIFYING VISION FOR THE COUNTRY/NOT BALKANIZATION
Everyone is an individual first. I oppose the government’s efforts to balkanize the nation on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, and “class.†We are one nation with one language and one culture. It used to be called the “melting pot.†The Left, the media, many of our schools and campuses, elements within the Democrat Party and some clueless Republicans, reject this and embrace dividing the nation into competing racial and ethnic tribes. This is un-American – and will undermine the country. I embrace the individual, the melting pot, E Pluribus Unum (“From One Many), Americanization, assimilation, one language, one culture. I stand with Martin Luther King and support a merit-based, colorblind society that is founded on “the content of one’s character, not the color of one’s skin.â€Â It has worked for two centuries and should not be abandoned now. But such thinking is under assault. I will defend it.
#10Â BLUE COLLAR CONSERVATISM
Working Americans are under attack in this country. They have been abandoned by elements within the Democrat Party and foolishly ignored by Republicans. It is time to regain their confidence and win their votes by promoting our energy industry (all fossil fuels including coal, oil, natural gas; also nuclear), creating good paying employment, reducing taxes, and ending the waves of immigrants entering the country that take their jobs and lower wages.
#11 Â REINING IN THE FEDERAL BUREACRACY AND THE FEDERAL COURTS INCLUDING THE SUPREME COURT
Our fourth branch of government, the federal bureaucracy, operates under the radar screen. But every year it issues tens of thousands of pages of regulations that have the impact of law with little or no credible Congressional oversight. They are unaccountable, unelected and wield tremendous power. In particular, I would rein in the EPA with its destructive CO2 emissions regulations (among many others) that are closing down coal plants and many other related industries and companies, imposing terrible burdens on Hoosiers, our state and the country.
Congress also sets the jurisdiction for the federal courts including the Supreme Court. It should use its constitutional authority to limit the Supreme Court’s power over the entire nation – a majority of a committee of nine unelected lawyers in black robes, who have taken it upon themselves, for example, to decide fundamental issues like the definition of marriage for 320 million Americans, fifty states, and fifty democratically elected state legislatures. It is unchecked judicial lawlessness. It is not democratic and it is not Constitutional.
#12Â TERM LIMITS
I favor term limits as one of the most effective mechanism to end our reckless, out of control federal government by professional career politicians in both parties, their special interests, consultants, and lobbyists that go to Washington, cut deals, grow the size of government and bankrupt our country.
#13 REBUILDING OUR MILITARY
President Obama has gutted our military. American weakness is provocative. When America withdraws our enemies advance as we see around the world with Russia and China on the move, Iran pursuing nuclear weapons, ISIS spreading, and the Middle East in flames. The world is safer and America is safer when America has the strongest military in the world.
#14Â RESTORING THE CONSTITUTION AND THE BILL OF RIGHTS
I defend liberty, private property, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. We must put our reckless federal government back into its Constitutional box to increase the circle of liberty for the rest of us. I embrace all ten amendments that comprise the Bill of Rights but would emphasize three because they have been under assault. They are the First Amendment including free speech and religious liberty, the Second Amendment, the right of self-defense, and the Tenth Amendment regarding state sovereignty. I will oppose those who attempt to take away our God-given rights.
“Our nation is at the precipice. Time is running out. Enactment of this plan will get us back on the conservative track in Southwest Indiana. It will move the 8th District, Indiana, and the country in the right direction toward fiscal, economic, moral, cultural, and demographic strength.
I ask for your vote in the Republican Primary May 3 2016. I will be your conservative champion in Washington. I will not let you down. Thank you.â€
