County Recorder Tuley Signs Affidavit Under Pressure

Z TULEY COUNTY RECORDER SIGNS AFFIDAVIT TO SAVE EMPLOYEE JOBS

At an emotional County Council Finance committee meeting last Wednesday, County Recorder, Z Tuley signs an affidavit under pressure to save her employee jobs. The meeting started with discussion about squeaking through with just enough money to finish out the year.

County Councilman Tom Shelter Jr made a statement about conserving money for the next year budget.  He emphasized that money left over in a particular appropriation at the end of the year is not lost if not spent, but rather, it should be saved for supporting next year’s County  budgets.

Earlier in the week County Recorder Z Tuley had issued a statement that she would be speaking about the four front line staff jobs that were cut from the budget in September, 2015.  When Mrs. Tuley requested to speak, there seemed to be a question of whether it would be appropriate for her to speak. The County Council indicated that they had provided Mrs. Tuley with an affidavit, and if she did not sign in agreement,  she would not be allowed to speak and at least one of her staff would lose her job. There was much discussion about the lack of sound management practices at the County Recorder’s office, including bidding of contractual services and buying new furniture without competitive bids.

County Council Finance Chair James Raben assured Mrs. Tuley that the Council was not making threats, but that if she didn’t agree to the content of the affidavit, one of her staff personnel would be laid off beginning January 1, 2016.  He also stated that even if the staff was rehired a week later,  her employee would lose her employee benefits that she earned for her years of service.

Ms. Tuley offered a revision to the orginial affidavit that she had prepared and was willing to sign.  After a short recess between the County Council members and Mrs. Tuley where the two versions of the affidavits were compared word-for-word, the session continued with an acceptance of Ms. Tuley’s revised affidavit. It appeared that her employee jobs would be saved with the details to be worked out after the meeting.

A public access request for the two affidavits that were the excitement of the meeting indicated they were simply two budget variations for funding the Recorder’s office. The Council was asking for more of the necessary cost for the function of the Recorder’s office to be taken from a special purpose fund that the County Recorder felt uncomfortable depleting rather than general funds that the Council was uncomfortable depleting. The final signed affidavit was a compromise to fund the Recorder’s office with $178,503 of special funds from the Recorder’s Records Perpetuation Fund instead of the original $259,624.45 the Council requested to be funded from the special fund. After the meeting, the Recorder’s office personnel were visibly upset. They were satisfied with the outcome knowing their jobs remained intact but appeared displeased with the traumatic process.

When the room cleared George Lumley, a concerned citizen, addressed the County Council about the potential revenues from tax delinquent properties that could help fund the County budget shortfalls. Lumley remarks drew a comment from County Council member Ed Bassemeier when Lumley mentioned that the Councilman had purchased one of the tax delinquent properties direct from the County Commissioners before the County Delinquent Tax Sale auction. Bassemeier indicated he did purchase a vacant lot adjoining his property in order to help the neighborhood and paid for it appropriately. Mr. Lumley stated he also purchased vacant lots at the County’s Tax auction for the same reason. Members of the County Council thanked Lumley for his concern.

Erin Brockovich Facebook Post About Evansville Water Quality

Evansville, Indiana… many of you have written to me about your water quality… you suffered your chlorine burnout back May 20 through the end of June.

So your homes and businesses where overrun with biofilm, slime, sediment, sludge, as well as dangerous toxic levels of TTHMs and HAAs back then. The City of Evansville posted it on their webpage on May 16th… sorry if you weren’t paying attention.

Your water was NOT SAFE to drink! And because of the City’s complete failure to understand the chemistry of the water they are trying to treat… I am not sure it is today

IS IT TRUE NOVEMBER 30, 2015

3

IS IT TRUE at last Tuesday’s County Commissioners meeting, George Lumley, a well known community volunteer, addressed the County Commissioners regarding implementing of Tax Sale reform legislation that provides new tools in addressing blighted properties while maximizing the revenues collected from the properties?

IS IT TRUE County Commissioner Bruce Ungenthiem, who was the County Representative on the Mayors task force that came up with the city plan of gifting the Brownfield’s $2.7 million and the County donating all tax delinquent properties to the Brownfield’s for a token amount, was unwilling to disclose any significant information?

IS IT TRUE George Lumley is pushing for implementation of new rules that will speed the process of taking the properties and selling, or marketing them to maximize the recovery of the delinquent taxes? …Mr. Lumley feels this can be achieved with the implementation of new state laws that work in conjunction with existing land banking operations, code enforcement, and private enterprise?  …Mr. Lumley also claims the properties could be a $500,000 financial resource for the county to use in everyone’s best interest?

IS IT TRUE that George Lumley claims that Evansville has a major blighted property problem?  … forty (40) blighted tax sale properties sold at the recent Commissioners surplus property auction and estimates that 1,800 other parcels need to come down?

IS IT TRUE Commissioner Ungenthiem announced last week that he would be looking at tax sale reform measures?   … Commissioner Ungenthiem indicated that he had met with only one county official but would not disclose that official by name or office?  …George Lumley insisted on public input on this issue but Commissioners Bruce Ungenthiem and Joe Kiefer shut Lumley down by indicating there would be no public input into the plan.

IS IT TRUE we are hoping to have at least 2 million page views by the end of the year?

IS IT TRUE you can expect some unpredictable activity on our site spearheaded by our Webmaster? …we urge you to be patient with us over the next 5 to 7 days?

TRUMP’S TRUTH

CLINTON, TRUMP AND POLITICAL CHOICE

2

By Rick Jensen

The media is in a frenzy over Donald Trump’s so-called endorsement of a database for all Muslims, doubling down on “thousands” of 9/11 celebrants in Jersey City and retweeting some fake statistics.

Meanwhile, both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have pushed the limits of believability. So the question is, when comparing candidates, how much bloviating or outright dishonesty can voters stand?

“Reporter” Hunter Walker of Business Insider created a fiction in which Donald Trump agreed to create a database of all Muslims in America. In the video of the questions and answers, it is obvious that Mr. Trump was talking about illegal aliens and refugees, not all Muslims.

The lack of fact-checking relating to subsequent stories by Yahoo News, CNN and NBC is shameful.

Trump said he saw “thousands” of people celebrating the destruction of the Twin Towers on 9/11 in Jersey City.

No one, not even the police, recalled such a protest.

On September 18, 2001, The Washington Post did report “several” and “a number” of people celebrating the attack with tailgate-style parties on rooftops in Jersey City.

They were questioned by police. There were no arrests.

So, there were, perhaps dozens, not thousands. celebrating 9/11 in Jersey City.

Trump either confused that Jersey story with video of international celebrations or he’s a bloviating hyperbolist.

Trump also retweeted a false statistic claiming 81 percent of killings of white people are by black people. His response: “Am I gonna check every statistic?”

The answer is, “Yes, if you want to be President. Otherwise, you’re as bad as Hillary and Obama with their fake ‘women earn 78 percent of what men earn’ narrative.”

Speaking of Clinton, she has her own set of beliefs that bear more scrutiny.

She believes government bureaucrats and specialists should be given ultimate authority over raising your children.

In the 1970’s, Hillary assisted Yale psychology professor Kenneth Keniston in writing a paper titled, “All Our Children,” championing the idea that the nuclear family is not preferable to government and that raising your child is not so much a duty of the parents as it is the job of “society” to raise your child, led by “public advocates” such as judges, social workers and bureaucrats.

In other words, Hillary has always believed, promoted and worked to create government policies designed to take make parents and parenting subservient to government institutions.

In 1973, Hillary wrote, “Decisions about motherhood and abortion, schooling, cosmetic surgery, treatment of venereal disease, or employment, or others where the decision or lack of one will significantly affect a child’s future should not be made unilaterally by parents.”

So does Hillary belief that government is the true family? Seems that way.

Barack Obama created multiple fabrications about his life, including his step-grandfather dying while fighting Dutch troops. He died falling from a chair while hanging drapes. He claimed the march on Selma inspired his parents to conceive him. A remarkable feat as he was nearly three years old during the march in 1965.

Most voters seemed not to care.

Hillary’s stories are equally easy to refute, such as landing in Bosnia under enemy fire (news video shows her greeted with smiles and flowers) and claiming credit for the Northern Ireland peace process.

She denies the millions of dollars given her foundation by foreign interests coincided with her State Department favors to those contributors.

Which do you prefer: A bloviating hyperbolist or a deceitful profiteer?
