Erin Brockovich Facebook Post About Evansville Water Quality

Evansville, Indiana… many of you have written to me about your water quality… you suffered your chlorine burnout back May 20 through the end of June.

So your homes and businesses where overrun with biofilm, slime, sediment, sludge, as well as dangerous toxic levels of TTHMs and HAAs back then. The City of Evansville posted it on their webpage on May 16th… sorry if you weren’t paying attention.

Your water was NOT SAFE to drink! And because of the City’s complete failure to understand the chemistry of the water they are trying to treat… I am not sure it is today

  1. Bravo, CCO!! I was shocked when this was not the lead story in the Courier this morning, but then I remembered how worthless that is for a source of significant information. I assumed the local TV stations were covering it, and when I didn’t see it on Tri-state Homepage, I called the newsroom at Channel 14. The young man who answered the phone there said that they were aware of the post, but didn’t think they would cover it.

IS IT TRUE that the Winnecke Administration has such a choke hold on all of the local media (except CCO) that they can even keep what may literally life-and-death information from the masses? I have a hard time believing that the lies posted on May 16, 2015 were not just a way to avoid telling the voters the bad news that the water wasn’t safe to use. After all, that would have been “negative” and Winnie just proved that positive news is all that the voters want!

  2. It’s really nice that CCO is here to cover the “little” stories like this one. The Courier is busy with important things like a local man’s post of his six month old sleeping on the Mall Santa’s belly while the Santa feigns sleep that went viral. There is also the story of the all girl band at the Strand Theatre in the 1930’s that deserves priority over this. The most important story in the Courier totally eclipses this one. The man involved in a “stand-off” yesterday is in custody and facing charges.

Tri-state Homepage had bigger things to let us know about too. It is so good to know that the “mental patient” who “escaped” from the psych ward at Henderson Community Methodist Hospital was “re-captured” nearby and is back in treatment.

The fact that the City was sending us unsafe drinking water just can’t stand up to the caliber of news that the local mainstream media has to cover in our thriving metropolis.

Call Warren Korf at 44 News. He is the news director. Talk to him personally.

If he resists let us know and I’ll call him as well.

  4. A Class Action Lawsuit is being mentioned by people on Facebook. Something needs to be done about public officials with such a cavalier disregard for the public good.

  5. A little over a year ago, I experienced a fish kill in my aquaponics tank. These were goldfish that I had raised for over a year and they were healthy and had grown to approximately 3-4 inches. Due to a loss of water I replaced about 50 gallons to a tank that held 100 gallons of water. The water was filtered through an RV water filter. I had done this many times. However, this time the fish started to die quickly. The water test indicated a very high level of ammonia. All 30 fish died. I tested water from two other locations on the west side. Both showed high levels of ammonia. I called the Water Department and was told that they were experiencing unusually high levels of ammonia but it was still safe to drink. Really? Safe to drink but it killed my fish. What is going on?

  6. Wow,—— Just Wow,—– where is the Federal oversight we expect to be a back-up through the power of the EPA, to protect us from this “Keep em ignorant” attitude of the Local power brokers concerning Water Quality?
What is being put forth here as factual, makes it hard to believe the issue doesn’t border on criminality.

  7. Someone needs to look at Boonville Warrick county’s water as well because when you can turn it on and be standing there and smell nothing but chlorine and it’s has stuff floating In the water that comes out of the faucet there’s something wrong.
