It's Giving Tuesday. Let's save 431 lives today. Donate Now.
Every 40 seconds someone dies from cardiovascular disease. And chances are, you know someone — a friend or family member — who has been among them. But this Giving Tuesday, please donate and help us reduce that number.
Imagine saving 431 lives today through your donation . Because of supporters like you, we are on track to reduce the number of deaths from cardiovascular disease by 20% by 2020. It may be a child born with congenital heart disease. A grandfather who might not see the next holiday. A mother with a newborn because of a stroke. Through your support, we can continue to improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment — and save those lives today.
This Giving Tuesday, we are relying on the power of your heart. Please donate— because after all, “Life is Why”.

What is #GivingTuesday? We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting great shopping deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. Today, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of this tradition of generosity.

Indiana State Police at Evansville Receives Two New Troopers

1

Troopers Taylor Fox and Xander Welsh reported to the Evansville District this morning to begin their new careers as Indiana State Troopers.  They were among 46 graduates of the 75th Indiana State Police Academy, which graduated November 19.  The ceremony was conducted in the south atrium of the Indiana State Capitol Rotunda.

Their recent graduation marked the culmination of 21 weeks of intense training exceeding 950 hours.  Some subject areas of training included criminal and traffic law, crash investigations, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, firearms and a host of other subjects related to modern policing.

Trooper Fox, 25, is a native of Bedford and a 2009 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School.  He later graduated from University of Southern Indiana where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.  Fox currently resides in Vanderburgh County and will be assigned to Gibson County.

Trooper Welsh, 22, is a native of Belvidere, IL, and a 2011 graduate of Belvidere North High School.  He later attended WyoTech College in Laramie, WY, and received an Associate’s Degree in Business Management.  Welsh currently resides in Vanderburgh County and will be assigned to Gibson County.

Both troopers start their 14 weeks of field training today with experienced troopers. The program allows them to put the skills and knowledge they gained in the academy to work in the field.  Upon successful completion of the field training program, they will receive their own patrol car and begin solo patrol responsibilities.

It’s Giving Tuesday and we’re challenging our loyal donors to raise $25,000 by midnight. Join with us today to give back during this global day that celebrates generosity.

Today, more than 110 women will die of breast cancer in the U.S. That’s one every 13 minutes.

That’s why we need your help today. In 24 hours, thanks to support from Komen:

83 women can receive Komen-funded treatment assistance
317 women can receive a free Komen-funded clinical breast exam
1,073 women can receive a free Komen-funded mammogram

You can help us make a real difference. Your gift helps us support research, education and lifesaving programs. Together we can reach our goal before midnight tonight, and join the #GivingTuesday tradition of generosity.

With deepest gratitude,

Sheila Seiler

SWIRCA Joins the #GivingTuesday Movement

SWIRCA & More joins the global #GivingTuesday Movement with a goal of $1,000 in a day
Everyone knows about Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but what about Giving Tuesday?
On December 1st, SWIRCA & More will take part in the global movement #GivingTuesday to kick off our fundraising campaign for our Activity Center.
We were recently notified that the City of Evansville will reduce their long-standing support of our Senior Center by $23,245 a year. The true cost of this cut cannot be absorbed by SWIRCA. To cover the Activity Center operating cost, we must start charging a yearly $30 membership fee.
With your help, we want to offer subsidies for those who may be unable to afford the yearly fee. By helping underwrite a membership fee, you will make a difference in the life of of one of the most overlooked segments of the population; our seniors.
For this holiday season, we are asking each person to sponsor a senior, for a $30 donation, to ensure we will not have to turn anyone away.
Help us reach our goal of $1,000 (33 membership fees)
in a day! Donate by clicking the link below.
