Japan-Based Auto Supplier Growing Production in Madison County

0

Company investing $111 million and adding 114 new jobs to support Subaru production in Lafayette
Elwood – ELSA Corporation announced plans today to increase its automotive parts production in Indiana to support growth at Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) in Lafayette. With its growth, the company plans to create a total of 114 new jobs to support increased production.

“The impact of Subaru’s historic investment in Lafayette is being felt across the state,” said Governor Mike Pence. “As Subaru launched production of the new Impreza last week, auto suppliers across the state like ELSA are expanding and creating quality new jobs for Hoosiers. In Indiana, we have built a business climate that attracts new investment and supports job creation, helping our automotive industry grow into the second-largest in the nation. More than 500 automotive suppliers like ELSA operate here, building cars and trucks used across the globe and helping Hoosier businesses add more than 161,000 new jobs in Indiana since 2013.”

The company, which is a subsidiary of Japan-based Sakamoto Industries, is investing $111 million into a multi-phase expansion, which once complete, will expand the company’s operations to cover 686,000 square feet across multiple buildings on the company’s Elwood campus. In October 2015, the company completed construction of a 131,000-square-foot addition, and it will break ground this month on a second 63,000-square-foot addition. As part of its growth, the company is adding two production lines to produce fuel tanks, exhaust systems, air cleaners and air ducts for SIA, which assembles the Subaru Legacy, Outback and Impreza. ELSA plans to install new equipment over the next three years, allowing the company to double its production capacity to 1,800 automotive parts daily once complete.

Just last week, SIA launched production of the new Subaru Impreza, which was previously produced in Japan. SIA, which is Subaru’s only U.S. manufacturing facility, has invested $1.3 billion into its Indiana operations over the past four years and has added 1,400 new jobs since last November to significantly increase its production volume capacity and build the new Impreza.

“As Indiana’s automotive industry grows, so does ELSA,” said Kyle Bubp, accounting manager at ELSA Corporation. “Japanese automakers across the state are each ramping up production, and that’s put us in a position where we need a larger workforce to meet demand. We’re excited to be growing in Elwood, Indiana, where the perfect location and a great business climate make this the obvious choice.”

Since launching its expansion, ELSA has already hired more than 80 associates within the last two months, outpacing its initial hiring goals. The company now employs more than 350 associates, who are part of Sakamoto Industries’ global team of more than 800 people. ELSA is currently hiring engineers, support staff and assembly technicians. Interested applicants may apply through the company’s website.

Founded in 1987, ELSA is a key part of Indiana’s automotive supply chain, supplying components for two of the state’s three Japanese auto original equipment manufacturers – Subaru and Toyota. In Japan, ELSA’s parent company earned $311 million in sales last year.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered ELSA Corporation up to $500,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s plans to create up to 83 new jobs by 2018. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Elwood will consider additional tax incentives at a meeting of the Elwood City Council this evening.

“I am very excited to see ELSA embark on another multi-million dollar expansion barely a year after their larger expansion,” said Elwood Mayor Todd Jones. “The addition of another 63,000-square-foot building and the new full time jobs that will result from this project are proof that Elwood is moving in a positive direction.”

ELSA is the latest in a long line of Japanese companies that are choosing Indiana for their growth plans, following recent announcements from Japanese companies including M&C Tech Indiana in Washington, Consolidated Grain and Barge in Mount Vernon, Moriden America in Carmel, Aisin USA in Seymour, Ryobi Die Casting and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal in Shelbyville, Toyota Boshoku in Princeton and NB Coatings in Hobart. More than 45 Japan-based companies have committed to locating or expanding in Indiana in the last three and a half years, with plans to create more than 6,400 new jobs and invest more than $2.2 billion into the state. Among all U.S. states, Indiana has the largest amount of Japanese investment per capita.

IS IT TRUE NOVEMBER 7. 2016

46

IS IT TRUE the health insurance plan for the employees of Vanderburgh County will renew on January 1, 2017? … the plan design will remain the same at renewal? …Vanderburgh County is fully insured by a private insurance company? … that the plan includes an onsite clinic, wellness programs, and chronic illness management? …that the Vanderburgh County plan will renew with a 0% rate adjustment for 2017? …the City of Evansville Health Insurance plan is self funded and is projected to be around $15 million in the red at the end of 2016? …we wonder why in the heck did the City of Evansville choose to continued to be self funded for 2017?

IS IT TRUE the most impressive grass roots campaign conducted on the local level was that of Sean Selby for District #1 Vanderburgh County Commissioner?  …Local GOP Party Chairmen Wayne Parke worked against Mr. Selby during the political caucus?  … Mr. Selby prevailed by winning with 65% of the caucus vote?  …the Courier and Press quoted that Mr. Parke now feels that Sean Selby “should run strongly in heavily Republican precincts outside the city.”  …Mr. Parke also said; I certainly think there’s a chance that he can win this race.”?  …we find Mr. Selby to be extremely smart, friendly and approachable?  …if hard work determines who will be elected to District #1 County Commission seat Mr. Sean Selby should prevail?

IS IT TRUE Mr. Selby’s opponent Ben Shoulders ran a lack luster campaign seemly based around his family  roots and employment with Old National Bank? …because of this his political platform seemly got lost in the mix? … we are told that Mr. Shoulders should had been more open and transparent related to an obvious conflict of interest issue concerning a fellow co-worker at Old National bank moderating the Pan Hellenic Candidate Forum he attended? …when Mr. Shoulders discovered that his fellow co-worker was the moderator of the Pan Hellenic Candidate Forum and didn’t ask her to recuse herself from this panel has hurt him politically? …we find Mr. Shoulders likable and smart?  …if he wins it shall be because of his family roots and not by his waging a smart and aggressive grass roots political campaign?

IS IT TRUE the race between Ryan Hatfield and Johnny Kincaid was extremely delightful to watch?  …both candidates conducted themselves with class and dignity?  …either candidate would serve us well in the State House?

IS IT TRUE the extremely hard working and well respected State Representative Holly Sullivan shall trounce her opponent?

IS IT TRUE the race between Carla Hayden and Zachary Heronemus was interesting to watch?  Mr. Heronemus door to door effort was seemly effective with the undecided voters?  …Mrs. Hayden door to door effort was adequate?  …we give a slight edge to Mrs. Hayden because of the “get out the vote” efforts by the local GOP that may generate enough votes she needs to get elected?  …both candidates are really nice people and either one would serve us well in the Vanderburgh County Court Clerk position?

IS IT TRUE the County Recorder race between current County Court Clerk Debbie Stucki and current Deputy Recorder Shannon Edwards was extremely low keyed?  …we predict that Mr. Stucki is in the political battle of her career?  …it’s common knowledge that Mrs. Stucki did an adequate job in running the County Court Clerk office?  …it’s also well known that Shannon Edwards id doing an extremely good job as the current Deputy Recorder? …both are very nice people? …we give a slight edge to Shannon Edwards to be elected as the next County Recorder of Vanderburgh County?

IS IT TRUE the results of  County Corner race will be called early?  …that the popular Vanderburgh Deputy Corner Steve Lockyear will defeat his opponents handily?

IS IT TRUE the race between Stephen Melcher and Cheryl Musgrave for District  #3 County Commissioner is turning out to be a real political barn burner?  …Commissioner Melcher is low keyed and Mrs.  Musgrave is extremely aggressive and out spoken?  …Commissioner Melcher enjoys the support among Mayor Winnecke and his key supporters, the “Indiana’s Right To Life”,  local Fraternal Order of Police, Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding, S W Indiana Building Trades and area Veterans organizations?  …Mrs. Musgrave has the support of Builders Association, Area Reality group and the more conservative voters in the County?  …this race is extremely to close to call?

IS IT TRUE it looks like Angela Koehler Lindsey and Mike Goebel are odds on favorite to be re-elected to the Vanderburgh County Council At Large seats?  …we predict that the other person to be elected to the County Council will either be Joe Kiefer or Nicholas Wildeman?

IS IT TRUE there are two positions to fill on the Judge Of The Superior Court of Vanderburgh County?  …the Honorable Chief Judge Richard G D’Armour and the Honorable Judge Robert Pigman are running unopposed?  ….by all rights they should be running unopposed because they both have done an outstanding job on the bench?  …we urge you to give them a strong vote of confidence by voting for them on November 8, 2016?

IS IT TRUE that Susan Kirk is running unopposed for Vanderburgh County Treasurer office?  …Ms. Kirk has done an outstanding job in this position?  …Ms. Kirk is also extremely popular with Civic Center employees and the public alike? …she is also considered to be the “Dean of the Civic Center Politics”? …we urge you to also give her a strong vote of confidence on November 8, 2016?

IS IT TRUE the current members of the District #1 and District #3 the Vanderburgh County School Board are running unopposed?  …current school board members Terry Gamblin and Karen Ragland have been no more than rubber stamps for the Superintendent of Schools?  …School Board member Jeffrey Worthington has been a little more independent and out spoken against the Administration and could merit a complimentary  vote except for one thing?  …we are bothered by not knowing the reason why officer Worthington was abruptly transferred from the position of  Mater Dei High school liaison officer to a 3rd shift position with the EPD?

IS IT TRUE tomorrow we shall be doing overviews on the remaining races listed on the ballot?

Two Paths For America: The Case For Trump

Two Paths For America:

The Case For Trump

By Richard Moss MD

We are at the threshold of a monumental election, with the nation poised to move in two very different directions.   One path, under Hillary Clinton, leads towards the dismal socialist lowlands of Europe, the increasing centralization of power in government, and rejection of our history, traditions, and founding principles.  This path is already well trod, with the last 8 years under President Barack Obama a marked acceleration of the same process well already underway for more than a hundred years.  It falls under the banner of the so-called “progressive” movement, a real misnomer, for it is more aptly thought of as regressive movement, given its pre-industrial, pre-Enlightenment orientation and habits.  It can also be thought of as Marxism, Communism, or Socialism, recognizing the many variants and shades that leftism provides, all of them destructive, many of them through history, lethal.

The other path, under Donald Trump, leads towards the light of liberty, individual rights, free market capitalism, our founding, and the Constitution.  The American ethos and system that was forged with the birth of the nation has led to unprecedented wealth and prosperity for Americans.  That system has been under assault by the progressive-regressive movement for more than a century, and never more so than now.

The Democrat Party and its avatar Hillary Clinton is in conflict with our history and culture, our Constitution and Bill of Rights, and our moral and religious underpinnings, in particular, the Judeo-Christian tradition.  They are also at war with our demographics and have been eagerly transforming it.  Incapable of convincing Americans of their ideology of poverty, they have chosen another tact, which has been to replace the electorate through immigration both legal and illegal.

Hillary will build on the lawless legacy of President Barack Obama, a man who has remained firmly grounded in his anti-Western, anti-American upbringing and has used his 8 years to divide the country and undermine our most cherished institutions.

Trump, on the other hand, is a candidate who, however flawed and boorish, unabashedly loves his country, its history, accomplishments, and traditions.  He believes in American exceptionalism and greatness as many Americans still do.  He will fight to restore its free market economy, its military, culture, and rule of law.  He will endeavor, as he says, to make America great again.

Trump brings considerable talents to the office, a background of business success, including retail, hospitality and leisure, media, TV, and, of course, real estate and construction.  He is a man not bound by the constraints of political correctness, this, perhaps, his most distinguishing feature.  PC, the thought and language policing that occurs on our campuses and schools, and in our media is a gateway to tyranny.  It includes the aggressive tactics of the social justice thugs that seek to destroy careers and silence dissent when “improper” opinions outside the PC lexicon are raised, our Sovietized government media complex, and the corrupt collusion between the media and Democrats.  It calls out for someone like Trump to expose and defeat it, and end the assault on our 1st Amendment free speech rights.

Trump admires our Police, the FBI and CIA, and our military.  He respects our coal miners, oil workers, and construction workers and speaks their language.  He will talk up America instead of condemning it.  What a breath of fresh air this will be after 8 years of Obama.

Trump would challenge the Establishment, the ruling One-Party Oligarchy in Washington, the broken system that is bankrupting the nation, imposing burdens on future generations, and sacrificing the country for short term political gain.  He will expose and uproot the Deep State, the army of lobbyists, bureaucrats, special interests, and career politicians that have done so much damage to the country.  Further, Trump has espoused conservative principles and policies that place him to the right of either John McCain or Mitt Romney, the 2008 and 2012 Republican candidates.

Trump, for example, will pursue school choice initiatives to break the teachers unions and end the government monopoly on the education of our children.  He would end Common Core.  He is pro life and would seek to undo the disastrous Roe v. Wade decision and throw the matter back to the states where it belongs.  He will reduce the size of the federal bureaucracy and its onerous regulations, including the EPA and the FDA among many others.  He will repeal and replace Obamacare with pragmatic, free market reforms including expanding Health Savings Accounts, buying insurance across state lines, and premium support.  He will lower taxes including the corporate tax rate, one of the highest in the developed world and repatriate trillions of dollars trapped overseas.  He will build a wall and end illegal immigration.  He opposes amnesty.  He will go after those who overstay their visas.  Trump will deport illegal alien criminals.  He will end the disastrous family reunification/chain migration of predominately third world immigrants who bring little to our advanced economy, burden our welfare system, and create large numbers of Democrat voters.  Trump will restore the military and abolish the “sequester,” necessary at a time when our military is squeezed and the world far more dangerous after 8 years of Obama and Hillary.  He endorses Congressional term limits, which would be the single most significant reform to end the corruption, cronyism and growth of government in Washington.  He supports local police and law and order. He has given a list of Supreme Court picks all of which are known conservatives and infinitely better than the ideologic leftists Hillary would choose.

Most important, he is not a committed ideologic leftist like Hillary who would expand the power of the federal government, undermine our Constitutional System, and attack our culture and critical institutions.

Trump clearly loves his country and does not want to fundamentally transform it.  Perhaps the best thing we can say about him is that he is not Hillary Clinton.  Under Hillary will come increasing socialism, poverty, corruption, and tyranny.  Under Trump the nation may thrive once more.

However imperfect a candidate, Trump is the moral and principled choice for conservatives, Republicans, moderate Democrats, working class voters, and Independents who love their country.  He is the vehicle for stopping Hillary.  Trump will be a non-PC firebrand who will attack the status-quo, the media, special interests, and the One Party Oligarchy.  He will begin the process of “draining the swamp,” and dismantling that most corrupt of cities, Washington DC.  The nation needs him.  Choose Trump for Life.
