The University of Southern Indiana women’s soccer team ends its six-match road marathon to start the year at eighth-ranked Bellarmine University Sunday. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. (CDT) in Louisville, Kentucky.

Freshman forward Maggie Winter (St. Louis, Missouri) continues to lead the way with eight total points on three goals and two assists. Freshman defender Madelyne Juenger (Columbia, Illinois) follows Winter with seven points on two goals and a team-best three assists.
GLVC Preseason poll:Â USI is picked to place ninth in the GLVC during the 2017 season, while Bellarmine is forecast to place fourth this season.
Schoenstein enters his second year: USI Head Coach Eric Schoenstein is in his second season as the head coach of the Eagles, producing a 12-11-1 mark (.521).
Eagles looking to gain ground versus Knights:Â Â USI hopes to gain ground this year versus Bellarmine, trailing the all-time series, 13-6-4, after battling to a scoreless double-overtime tie last fall. The Eagles also will be fighting for their first victory over the Knights since 2004, going winless in the last 12 meetings.
Bellarmine in 2017:Â Bellarmine, which hosts McKendree University Friday before hosting USI, saw its record go to 2-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 GLVC after defeating Missouri University of Science & Technology, 2-0, in Louisville last Sunday.

First week in the GLVC:Â USI (2-2-0, 0-2-0 GLVC) fell out of the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll after going 0-2-0 in the first Great Lakes Valley Conference weekend of 2017. The Eagles opened GLVC action with 2-0 losses to the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Maryville University. USI is 1-2-0 during the current road trip.
Eagle Scoring: USI scored seven goals in the first four matches, led by freshman defender Justin Raines(Bartlett, Tennessee). Raines scored twice in the first two matches, including the game-winning goal against Kentucky Wesleyan. In addition to Raines, USI had goals from sophomore defender Justin Brooks(Fishers, Indiana); sophomore midfielder Sean Rickey (Columbia, Illinois); freshman forward Graham Miller (Owensboro, Kentucky); and senior midfielder Kyle Richardville (Vincennes, Indiana).
Santoro begins his ninth year: USI Head Coach Mat Santoro, who has a 66-65-16 overall record at the helm, led the Eagles to their first NCAA Division II Tournament berth since 1982 after posting a 13-4-4 record in 2016.
USI tabbed third in GLVC poll:Â The Eagles were picked third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference preseason poll of the league’s coaches, the highest selection since 2003. Bellarmine is forecast to place ninth in the league this year.
USI leads Bellarmine in all-time series:Â USI leads the all-time series with Bellarmine, 24-13-2, going 4-0-1 in the last five meetings. The Eagles defeated the Knights, 2-1, last year at Strassweg Field and have posted victories in their last three visits to Louisville.

Cross Country Teams Set To Host Stegemoller Classic
The University of Southern Indiana men’s and women’s cross country teams are back in action Saturday when they host the Stegemoller Classic at Angel Mounds. The women’s 5k race begins at 8:30 am with the men’s 8k race to follow at 9:15 am.
With the NCAA II Cross Country Championships at Angel Mounds in November, there are a number of teams making the trek to Evansville this weekend. Joining the Screaming Eagles are Bellarmine University, California University of Pennsylvania, Concord University, Colorado State University-Pueblo, Lee University, Lewis University, Lincoln Memorial University, Northwest Missouri State University, Queens University of Charlotte, Trevecca Nazarene University as well as Division I schools Murray State University, Northern Kentucky University, SIU Edwardsville and University of Tennessee at Martin.
In the latest U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association polls, both USIÂ teams are in the top five, with the women remaining fifth and the men climbing one spot to fifth.
CSU-Pueblo, Lewis, Lee, Northwest Missouri State and Queens, N.C. on the men’s side all competed at the Championships last year and are all ranked coming into this weekend’s meet. Bellarmine is receiving votes.
On the women’s side, CSU-Pueblo, Lee, and Queens, N.C. also competed at last year’s Championships. Lee and Queens are represented in this week’s top 25, while Lewis and Bellarmine are receiving votes. CSU-Pueblo dropped out of the most recent poll.
UT Martin’s men’s team is 14th in the South Region poll, while their women are 15th in the region. USI finished a spot ahead of the Skyhawks in both the men’s and women’s team results at the Covered Bridge Open in Boone, North Carolina, two weeks ago.
At the Covered Bridge Open, the USI men finished second as senior James Cecil (Owensboro, Kentucky) paced the Eagles with a fourth-place finish. The women also ran well, taking third with juniors Hope Jones(Cumberland, Indiana) and Melina Gryschka (Garbsen, Germany) placing fourth and sixth, respectively.

The Indiana Supreme Court has publicly reprimanded a Hamilton County adoption attorney who failed to inform his clients that a birth mother they planned to adopt a baby from had chosen someone else to adopt her child.
In the disciplinary case against Steven Kirsh, In the Matter of Steven M. Kirsh, Respondent, 29S00-1703-DI-154, Steven Kirsh was hired by clients to represent them in an intended adoption with a birth mother, who had tentatively agreed to allow the clients to adopt her baby after its birth. However, when the birth mother expressed concerns to Kirsh about the clients adopting the child and asked for profiles of other prospective parents, Kirsh provided the additional profiles, prompting the birth mother to select another couple to adopt the child.
Kirsh did not discuss any of these facts with his clients until after the birth mother selected a different set of adoptive parents. Further, while the attorney did have other prospective adoptive parents sign conflict-of-interest waivers, he failed to have the clients sign one.
Then, when Kirsh and his clients began discussing a partial reimbursement of fees the clients advanced, he presented them with a release form that purported to bar the clients from filing a “claim†with the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission. The clients refused and instead retained separate counsel while they considered a legal malpractice suit, though the parties were eventually able to reach a settlement.
Meanwhile, the disciplinary action against Kirsh was opened in March 2017, and the parties agreed he had violated Indiana Professional Conduct Rules 1.7(a), 1.8(b) and 8.4(d). Those rules relate to prohibitions against representing a client when the representation may be materially limited by responsibilities to another person; using client information to the disadvantage of the client without their consent; and engaging in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice.
In an order dated Sept. 8, the Indiana Supreme Court determined the appropriate discipline was a public reprimand against Kirsh. The costs of the proceeding are also assessed against him.
The order was signed by Justice Steve David as acting chief justice. All justices concurred except Chief Justice Loretta Rush, who did not participate.

Early goal trips-up Aces at Butler
The University of Evansville men’s soccer team battled, but was unable to overcome an early goal as the Aces fell to Butler, 1-0, on Tuesday evening in Indianapolis, Indiana.
“The guys never stopped competing.  We gave everything we had until the final whistle,” said Aces head coach Marshall Ray. “It is difficult to put yourself in a hole early and have to dig out against a very good team like Butler.”
The lone goal of the match came just 12 minutes in as Butler connected a string of passes leaving Joey Harvey alone in the box in a one-on-one situation. Harvey dribbled and finished to give Butler the 1-0 advantage.
Following a bit of a slow start in the opening 15 minutes, the Aces found their rhythm midway through the first half. Evansville recorded its first shot in the 29th minute and proceeded to fire four more with a pair on-goal.
In the second half, the intensity continued for the Aces as UE came close to equalizing on three separate occasions in the final six minutes of the match. With just 18 seconds remaining, senior midfielder Ian McGrath sprinted into the box for what would be the Aces’ final chance. McGrath unleashed a shot that sent Butler goalkeeper Eric Dick sprawling to the ground to make a sve, preserving the 1-0 win for the Bulldogs.
Butler out-shot the Aces, 19-10, with an 8-4 advantage on shots on-goal.
McGrath led the way for the Aces with four shots, two on-goal, while freshman forward Sam Bonano took a pair of shots with one on-goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Frederik Reimer helped preserve the deficit at just a goal, making six saves between the posts.
“I thought we created some chances late in the match and had a lot of energy and effort to get numbers forward,” said Ray on the Aces’ late-match push. “We now turn our focus to Sunday and prepare ourselves for the coming matches.
The Aces return to Arad McCutchan Stadium on Sunday for a 2 p.m. meeting with Eastern Illinois.
