Indiana Organization Receives Funding for Opioid Treatment

A grant to fund opioid treatment services has been awarded to the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration.

U.S. Senator Todd Young announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment awarded the organization $18,147,223 to combat the opioid epidemic.

“The pain of losing a loved one due to an opioid overdose is something no one should have to endure. Unfortunately, this is the reality for far too many families,” said Senator Young. “This grant funding is welcome in Indiana, where our state has been working aggressively to curb the terrible opioid epidemic and provide treatment options for Hoosiers looking to turn their lives around.”

This funding is provided through HHS’s Mental Health & Substance Abuse Service Grants program.

Braun Brushes Off GOP Concerns

The IBJ-The Rundown by Lindsey Erdody

Despite a story this week from the AP that there is growing concern among members of the Republican Party that their candidate for U.S. Senate, Mike Braun, isn’t out on the campaign trail enough, Braun says he’s not worried.

When initially asked at a campaign event on Wednesday about the article and whether he thinks there is a lack of enthusiasm among the party base, Braun said that wasn’t the case in Indiana, at least.

“I can tell you that the energy level is high,” Braun said. “We couldn’t be in better shape.”

When pressed on the issue and whether he would increase the number of public events he’s attending, Braun criticized the AP reporter who wrote the story.

“Who is writing that? I think a liberal reporter from up north,” Braun said. “I’ve been out on the trail from sun up to sun down now for 11 months through the primary and the general.”

Braun’s campaign told the AP he has held 80 public events since the primary, but Democratic incumbent Joe Donnelly has held more than 190 campaign events since May. And that’s while Donnelly flies back and forth between Indiana and Washington, D.C. Braun resigned from his seat in the state Legislature to focus on his campaign.

But Braun is confident in his denial.

“I’ll outmaneuver Joe Donnelly any day, and I’m out here doing it, so that’s not true,” he said Wednesday.

Stan Levco Statement About His FOP Endorsement

September 22, 2018

In a major development in the race for Vanderburgh County Prosecutor, the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) announced their endorsement today for Stan Levco for Prosecutor against Nick Hermann.

According to the FOP Chairman, Chris Roe, Levco was the candidate who could best “Work with law enforcement to provide the safest community for Vanderburgh County.”

Levco said, “I’m very pleased and grateful to receive this endorsement.”

There is no more important endorsement in this race than from law enforcement. It’s particularly meaningful this time since law enforcement knows both of us well and has had an ample opportunity to evaluate both of our performance as Prosecutor.
