The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office and the Evansville Police Department are investigating the discovery of human remains. An autopsy has been scheduled for 13:00 hours tomorrow. The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available at this time. The Evansville Police Department can provide updates ,when available, on their investigation.

Evansville’s City Council had a big task on their hands Monday night.
In front of a packed house at the Civic Center, Council was debating whether to cut money from several non-profits in an effort to cut down on the 2019 budget.
Many local residents showed up in support of those non-profits, arguing against cutting anything from their budgets.
Affordable housing, the Metropolitan Evansville Transit System, and road projects were big topics of discussion.
An amendment to cut METS by $100,000 was mentioned as well as decreasing the affordable housing fund from $500,000 to $100,000, which was not approved.
Council did pass a 2% raise for city workers, but Mayor Lloyd Winnecke along with Justin Elpers and Jonathan Weaver opted to not accept that raise.
After several hours of public comment, Council voted 8 to 1, passing the $395 million budget. Councilman Jonathan Weaver was the only member to vote against the budget, saying the current 2018 budget is already $13 million over budget.

UE Give Panthers A Run In All Three Sets
Playing their third match in four nights, the University of Evansville volleyball team gave UNI all it could handle, staying within four points in each set, but the Panthers were able to earn a 3-0 win on Monday evening.
Leading the offense was the duo of Rachel Tam and Alondra Vazquez. Tam recorded 14 kills for UE (7-14, 1-7 MVC) while Vazquez tallied 11. Allana McInnis continued to play well, totaling 34 assists while Vazquez led the team with nine digs. Olivia Goldstein and Mildrelis Rodriguez notched seven apiece. Joselyn Coronel posted a solo block and an assist. The Panthers (13-6, 7-0 MVC) saw Karlie Taylor pace the team with 20 kills while Rachel Koop notched 39 assists.
UNI appeared to be on its way to an easy win in the first game, taking a 20-12 lead. Evansville had none of it, responding with an 8-3 run to make it a 23-20 game. Kerra Cornist, Vazquez and Rodriguez had kills to cap off the run. Following a point by the Panthers, the Aces scored two more to get within a pair at 24-22 before the Panthers scored the final point on a Taylor kill.
The late rally set the tone for the evening as the Purple Aces played neck-and-neck with the Panthers. UE took a 2-0 lead in the second frame before UNI jumped in front with four in a row. Six ties led to a 12-12 score before the Panthers reeled off five in a row. Evansville got within a pair on a few occasions, the latest being 23-21, but UNI was able to take the 25-21 win and a 2-0 match lead.
It was the Panthers who took the early lead in game three, scoring the first two tallies before the Aces fought back to tie it up at 6-6. UE later took a 12-10 lead before UNI came back to force several ties once again. The defining moment came with the score tied at 20-20 as the Panthers scored three in a row and clinched the match with another 25-21 triumph.
On Saturday, UE is back at Meeks Family Fieldhouse, welcoming Indiana State in a 7 p.m. contest.
Women’s golf in second place at Chi-Town Fall Classic
Aces just two off the lead in Chicago
 Four University of Evansville women’s golfers are in the top ten at the midway point of the Chi-Town Fall Classic at the Harborside International Golf Center as the Purple Aces are in second place.
Evansville enters Tuesday’s final round just two shots behind Green Bay in the team standings. UE posted a 314 while the Phoenix had a 312.
Leading the Aces was Madison Chaney. Her 5-over 77 has her alone in fourth place. She is two behind leaders Lori Meyer (Green Bay), Macey Mills (CSU Bakersfield) and Felicia Davenport (Chicago State).
Joining Chaney in the top ten were Sophia Rohleder, Sydney Anderson and Alyssa McMinn. Rohleder carded a 78 in Monday’s round while Anderson had a 79. They are tied for 5th and 8th, respectively. McMinn had an 80 in round one and is tied for 10th. Just behind them was Lexie Sollman, who had an 85 and is tied for 16th.
Caitlin O’Donnell was UE’s individual and finished with a 93.
On Tuesday, the Aces look for the tournament win when they take on the competition in the final round.
Koth and Reese lead men’s golf in Ohio
Aces rank in top five in team standings
  Dallas Koth and Noah Reese are in the top 15 with two out of three rounds completed at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational, which is being hosted at Lakewood Country Club.
Koth leads the way for the Purple Aces, standing in a 6th place tie with a 2-round tally of 141. He started the day with a 71 before carding a 1-under 70 to finish the day at one under par. Koth is just two strokes off the lead.  Reese also had a strong day, completing the first day of play with a 145. After carding a 74, Reese finished the second round with an even 71 to stand in a tie for 14th.
Third on the team was Jessie Brumley. He is tied for 37th with a 150. His rounds checked in at 77 and 73. Next up was Spencer Wagner. After posting a 79 in the opening 18 holes, he lowered his score by seven strokes, completing the second round with a 72. Matthew Ladd finished with identical rounds of 79. Playing as an individual, Gab Rohleder tallied a 164.
Oakland’s Thomas Giroux and Kevin Scherr of Youngstown State pace the individuals with scores of 139. Oakland also leads the team standings with a 569. They are nine in front of Cleveland State and 12 ahead of Dayton. Evansville is in fifth place with a 587. The Aces are one behind fourth place Fort Wayne.
Tomorrow, the teams will play the final 18 holes.

Mercher Claims That City County Observer And Evansville Courier Posted An Erroneous Amendments In Error
The City County Observer as well as Evansville Courier printed an erroneous non-existant amendments in error.
I am requesting the City County Observer print that this was an error.
I have asked Josh Claybourn, our attorney to contact you also. The amendment printed in CP Saturday and also by City County Observer that listed me as a sponsor of an amendment to cut the non-profits by 25 percent is eroneous and that is a non-existant amendment.
I am not sponsoring any amendment to cut the non-profits.
I have sent three attachments:
1) Elpers and McGinn Amendment to cut non-profits. If their amendment passes then my amendments would be voted on.
2) Mercer amendment to exclude SWIRRCA if the Elpers and McGinn amendment passes.
3) Mercer amendment to exclude Leadership Evansville if the Elpers and McGinn amendment passes.
