“IS IT TRUE” JANUARY 28, 2019

13

We hope that today’s “IS IT TRUE” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way?

IS IT TRUE we were just informed that Mayor Winnecke will have strong competition in the upcoming city election?  …we would like to announce who this person is but committed to our source that we would not release this person name until we get permission?  …we can say this the soon to be announced candidate for Mayor of Evansville will be running as a Democrat?  …this individual is well educated, is very dynamic, well spoken and that his campaign will be well funded?  …we are told that Mayor Winnecke better get ready to defend his liberal spending habits?  …this is definitely a developing story?

IS IT TRUE do you wonder who actually set the attendance records for the Ford Center?…it was not the Purple Aces?…it was surely was not a hockey team?…it was not the circus?…it was not even a classic rock or country concert that actually set the record for attendance at the Ford Center?  …the #1 and #2 attendance winner for the Ford Center is and shall always be President Donald J. Trump who set the record in 2016 and broke his own record in 2018? …what’s so interesting is that the expenses for these political events were paid by the taxpayers?

IS IT TRUE that Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke announced many months ago that he plans to seek a third term as your mayor in the 2019 election?  …this gave Mayor Winnecke a long time to raise money to fend off any challengers who may have decided to toss their hat into the ring?…in his two campaigns for mayor, Winnecke has proven to be able to raise over a million dollars for an office that only pays around $100,000 per year?…with the apparent popularity that Winnecke enjoys and over a $600,000 dollars in his political war chest, members of the Democratic party realizes it will be one formidable task to defeat Winnecke in a general election?
IS IT TRUE that At Large Councilwoman Michelle Mercer (R) made it through the primary without a problem? …so far Ms. Mercer has voted for everything the Mayor wants?  …the mood of the Evansville taxpayers is that they are looking for independent thinkers?
IS IT TRUE we wonder if corporate citizen Vectren could help the City of Evansville to replace the damaged and obsolete lighting bollards along the downtown riverfront walkway and city parks?
IS IT TRUE we been informed that the taxpayers are also paying off an annual debts payment for the new downtown medical school ($2.7M), the downtown hotel ($1.26M) without having any ownership position? …we are told that the Evansville taxpayers aren’t the owners of the hotel and medical school buildings but they are still paying on the bond loan notes on them?
IS IT TRUE some folks living in the 4th Ward are worry that the practice of gentrification may be happening the near downtown area?

IS IT TRUE many government housing projects over time have degraded into violent places where illegal activities such as drug trafficking and prostitution are prevalent?…for people of potential to become trapped into permanent dependency in violent neighborhoods was never the intention of any of the federal housing programs but for many recipients of this generosity violence and lawlessness is a way of life?…it is time for such programs to be reformed and refocused on the original goal of changing lives for the better instead of turning people with potential into permanent wards of the state?

IS IT TRUE federal housing programs also work and get worked by private investors in real estate through the Section 8 voucher programs?…these vouchers are direct payments to landlords who have chosen to invest in properties that cater to people whose rent is paid by the taxpayers of the United States?…this practice was started in some ways to improve the living conditions of the people who would have otherwise been trapped in the cycle of dependency that government projects?…some landlords who enrich themselves by “fleecing the taxpayers by appearing to help the helpless” do as bad of a job at tenant management as Uncle Sam does?…it is not unusual for such investment groups to buy a building on credit, milk the Section 8 vouchers for a few years, and let the bank take the building back?…this happens all of the country?

IS IT TRUE that the federal government has been running housing programs for years intending to help people of limited means keep a roof over their heads with housing subsidies?…some such programs involve placing people and families in housing projects that are administered entirely by public servants?…these programs in their beginning were started with the admirable goal of helping people temporarily with the intention that they improve their skills and learn to manage their lives so that they can return to the real market rate world and cease being a burden on the taxpayers?…over time these programs often failed to rehabilitate lives and ended up trapping people in the cycle of dependency known as being permanently dependent on the generosity of the American taxpayer to keep a roof over their heads?

IS IT TRUE we wonder why the Vanderburgh County Commission has Burdette Park marketing contract on their agenda?  …we thought that the Burdette Park manager was in charge of the marketing efforts of Burdette Park?

IS IT TRUE it’s time that the Evansville City Council realizes that there are around 120,000 people living in this town and a little more than a 1,000 of them are willing to pay $10 to see a hockey game?

Todays“Readers Poll” question is: Because of the annual bond payments do you feel its time that our elected officials admit that the Ford Center shall never make a profit?

Evansville Library Plans To Invite Anarchist Punk Rocker Laura Jane Grace

written By Therese M Finn-Evansville

An Evansville library plan to have punk rocker Laura Jane Grace come and discuss her book “Tyranny: confessions of a punk rockers most infamous anarchist sellout”

I was appalled and disgusted in what I read online about her.  Her online poster states “Midwest Takeover.”  In the article, it states devouring mothers bought to rot Nihilism.  Although I have several different college degrees I had never heard this word Nihilism before.  It is defined as one who rejects all moral and religion as well as believing there is no purpose for life. Extreme skepticism.  I am not alone in my thinking that this person is not a healthy person to be invited here.  Her album is produced by Bloodshot records.

Something is terribly wrong here when a group of extreme liberals decides that public taxpayer and citizen should allow this in a local library. She has also performed in Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto.  This plan is much bigger than just locally. Wow, what a thing to promote when teens are already battling depression, suicide, and confusion.  This agenda goes against everything that is good in this area.

Here is my opinion straight and simple. The Evansville Library with the millions of tax dollars they use needs to close their doors and not reopen until the ones responsible for promoting LGBTQ+ drag queen story hour and rainbow story are removed.

As far as I am concerned heads need to roll in the line of firing for this destructive agenda.  And in case you are wondering what the plus sign is it does include pedophiles as well.  I am here as a citizen to promote and protect our children and teens as well as good values and morals for our area not to destroy them. Those that are not may move to Vancouver, but not bring this agenda here.

Sincerely,

Therese M Finn-Evansville

Evansville City Councilman Justin Elpers Filed For Re-Election

1

On Friday, January 11th, Evansville City Councilman Justin Elpers filed for re-election for the 5th Ward.

He filed for re-election with his family by his side.  Mr. Elpers said; “It’s been a privilege serving the citizens of Evansville”.  “I want to thank everyone for your prayers and support.”

Councilman Elpers says his message will remain the same, “Leadership over Politics”.  “I put the taxpayers first.  That entails cutting wasteful spending, not raising taxes, & creating an environment where people want to do business in Evansville.”

Vanderburgh County Democratic Party Hosted A Training Event

The Vanderburgh County Democratic Party hosted a lunch event on Saturday to kick-off the 2019 election season.
Nearly 100 people were on hand as a way to look back but also move forward in the new year.
The event included party organization and training information. In addition, two members of the Indiana Democratic party were on hand to speak to the group.  One county organizer says it’s important for the party to find common ground with all voters.  “In our city election we’re predominately Democrat,” said Vanderburgh County Democratic Chair Scott Danks, “but for whatever reason, we don’t have the voter turnout that we would like to have so it’s about connecting with those individuals and hopefully helping them understand why it’s important to vote.”
Many of the Democrat candidates running for office this year were on hand.

Danks adds that one of the goals for the party is to build upon the successes of 2018.

COA: Mom Owes No College Funds After Child’s Repudiation

0

Dave Stafford for www.theindianalawyee.com

A mother whose infidelity led to divorce and what a trial court called a “deep, seemingly bottomless rift between the children and Mother” owes a daughter no support with college expenses because the child repudiated their relationship.

The Indiana Court of Appeals affirmed a ruling of the St. Joseph Superior Court that determined Dawn Marie Messner was not required to provide support for post-secondary educational expenses to her daughter, Riley, who she learned during mediation began attending Azusa Pacific University in California in fall 2017.

Dawn’s then-husband Thomas Messner filed for divorce in September 2014, after the couple separated after Thomas was presented evidence of her infidelity, the record says. At some point that year, he and his children met with Dawn in a restaurant and gave her an ultimatum to end her relationship with her new partner or have no future relationship with her children.

From that point forward, Dawn attempted to communicate with Riley through texts and through other children, and Dawn provided gifts for major holidays and Riley’s birthday. Riley almost never responded, the record says, and after Dawn was denied joint custody in 2016, father later moved for mother to contribute to Riley’s educational expenses.

But at a hearing, Riley said she didn’t desire a relationship with her mother and she believed her mother wasn’t ready, calling her mom’s new relationship “disgusting.”

Based on this evidence, the trial court held that Riley had repudiated her relationship with her mother and found Dawn therefore was relieved from contributing to Riley’s college expenses.

The COA affirmed Friday in Thomas Virgil Messner v. Dawn Marie Messner, 18A-DR-1110.

“Father argues … that the trial court ‘did not look to whether [Mother] bore some responsibility for the strained relationship between her and not only Riley, but also her other children,’” Judge Patricia Riley wrote for the panel. “… However, Father acknowledges that the trial court found that Mother had not been a model parent and that Riley’s repudiation may be entirely understandable. Father essentially argues that, where both parties share the blame for the deterioration of their relationship, a trial court should not excuse the repudiated parent from contribution towards college expenses.

“On appeal, Father acknowledges that no existing Indiana precedent expressly supports his argument. We decline to accept Father’s proposed addition to the body of repudiation jurisprudence. Father’s argument might have some merit if there was a presumption of parental contribution towards a child’s college expenses; however, no such presumption exists.”

The panel concluded that the trial court applied the correct legal standard in assessing the evidence, which supported its determination that Riley repudiated her relationship with her mother.
