OBITUARY OF JOHN H. BOTT JR

John H. Bott Jr., 72, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away June 14, 2019 at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born December 10, 1946 to the late, John Sr. and Betty Jane (Gaslin) Bott.

John was born in Louisville, KY and had served in the United States Army Reserve. He was an EMT and Assistant Fire Chief for the Fire Department of Sturgis, KY. John volunteered for the Pleasure Ridge Park Fire Department in Louisville, KY. He was a member of the Owen Dunn Post #5 and the “Pair-A-Dice Cruisers”.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his late wife, Doris Kay Bott.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon (Lively) Jackson; brother, Greg (Kaye) Bott; his children, Kim Logsdon, Missy Richard, Timmy Bott, Amanda (Tim) Chapman, Angel Rager, Brian (Peggy) Webber, Jason (Angie) Webber, Michael Webber, Joe (Cheri) Jackson, Bobbi Jo (Mark) Bottomley, Joanne (Steve) Bogard and Lora Jackson; 23 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life for John will be held from 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 1200 Mockingbird Lane, Mt. Vernon, IN.

Private burial at Wolf Creek Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Obituary Wilburn E. Butts, Jr.

Wilburn E. Butts, Jr., 88, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away June 10, 2019 at his home. He was born September 4, 1930 in Morganfield, KY to the late Wilburn E., Sr. and Delia (Collins) Butts.

W.E. served in the Indiana National Guard for 7 years. He retired from ADM Milling Company after 45 years of service. W.E. enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Ramberger.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lois (Morehead) Butts; daughters, Debbie (David) Schaefer, Doris (Roger) Nation, and Denise (Donnie) Garrett; brother, Robert (Donna) Butts; grandchildren, Larry McCarty, Jeremy (Christina) McCarty, Jason (Robin) Young, Brandi (Wayne) Muensterman, Tyler (Tosha) Greathouse, Stephanie (Bruce) Coy, Chris (Reyna) Schaefer; 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN, with Fr. Jim Sauer officiating and entombment to follow in St. Joseph Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm on service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

Obituary Of Stephanie Renae (Conyers) Virtue

Stephanie Renae (Conyers) Virtue, 41, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away June 10, 2019 at Vanderbilt University. She was born October 10, 1977 in Evansville, IN to Donald Conyers and Pam (Grabert) Mercer.

Stephanie graduated from Mt. Vernon High School, Class of 1996 and studied social work at Ivy Tech Community College. She was a member of Trinity United Church or Christ. Stephanie had worked at Walmart as a cashier.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She is survived by her daughters, Alix Conyers and Kar-Leigh Virtue; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN, with Rev. Jamie Kent officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on service time on Friday at the funeral home.

Obituary of Robert “Bob” Schmidt

Robert “Bob” Schmidt, 86, of Newburgh, Ind., passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019 peacefully surrounded by family.  He was born September 4, 1932 in Newburgh to the late George and Clara (Brumley) Schmidt.  Bob was the youngest and last living of 12 siblings.

Bob loved to garden and shared the fruits of his labor with family and friends.  Although he had no children of his own, he was instrumental in the upbringing of 3 generations of nieces and nephews.  He served in the United States Air Force, in Germany and Africa, during the Korean War; then went on to retire from Whirlpool after many years.  He was known by many for his humor and kindness.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery with full military rites.  Deacon Joe Seibert will officiate.  Arrangements are in the care of Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, (812) 853-8314.  Sympathy wishes to the family may be shared at www.titzerfuneralhomes.com.

OBITUARY OF NANCY LEE PREVO

Nancy Lee Prevo, 77, of Evansville, IN, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019, at Hamilton Pointe Health & Rehab in Newburgh.  She was born in Paradise, IN on June 3, 1942 to the late Robert J. and Lois E. (Tweed) Rowley.  Nancy retired, after 17 years, Deaconess Hospital Laundry.

She was a life time member and Past President of the Charles Denby VFW Auxiliary Post 2953, and member of American Legion Auxiliary.  She was an avid bowler for many years as a member of the Monday Night Queens League, the Wednesday Mixed League and Hagedorn’s Tavern League.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Carol Norman, and Jeaneine Saffell.

She is survived by son, Robert Edward Prevo (Becky); daughter, Margaret Ann McCarthy (Glen); three grandchildren, Clay Doerner, Jayme Prevo, and Jaycee McCarthy; great-grandson, Eli Schnelle; and three sisters, Phyliss Macaluso, Sandy Hollowell (Danny), and Lana Hillenbrand (Chuck); several nieces and nephews, and special friend, Vernon Tremper and his daughter, Barbara.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Meyer Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St., Evansville, IN (812) 424-9288.

Burial will be in Ellis Cemetery, Paradise, IN.

OBITUARY OF LARRY KENT HUDSON

Larry Kent Hudson, 56, passed away, Thursday, June 20, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital.  He was born in Evansville on November 24, 1962 to the late Wilfred L. and Mary Frances (Downey) Hudson.  He graduated from Bosse High School in 1981.  Larry was a truck driver.  He enjoyed drag racing, camping, his children and spending time on his front porch.

Larry is survived by his children, Sarah Hudson, Clayton Hudson, and Clint Hudson; siblings, Gary, Mark, Roger, Stanley, David, Charlie, and Steve Hudson, Cheryl Afana, and Judy Martin; grandchildren, Maison and Karter Hudson; his dog, Sammie.

Services will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2019 with visitation beginning at 4 p.m. at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St. Evansville, Ind. James T. Foley, 87, passed away Friday, June 14, 2019 at Linda E. White Hospice House.  He was born on January 3, 1932 in Evansville to the late George and Mary Helen (Herr) Foley.  He was a Commercial Construction Estimator for many years.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Patrick Foley; daughter, Jamie (Foley) Son.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” (Brack) Foley; children, Kathy Goetz (Jerry), Mike Foley, Tim Foley (Kathy), Shannon Tovissi (Jeff), and Kelly Foley (Karen); grandchildren, Nicholas Foley, Kristy Ulrey, Ashley Scott, Chelsea Harwood, Craig Son, Rachel Son, Jamison Foley, Autumn Foley, Jordan Foley, Ashtin Foley; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bill Foley (Margie), Lois Ann Weathers (Tom), and Connie Dallas (LeRoy).

A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., friends may visit with the family beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at St. Clement Catholic Church, 422 E. Sycamore St. Boonville, IN.  Per Jim’s wishes he requested cremation.  Memorial contributions may be made to Linda E. White Hospice House or St. Clement Catholic Church.

Ernest Joseph Jackson, 92, passed away, Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Golden Living Woodlands.  He was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 22, 1927 to the late Ernest and Mildred (Lynch) Jackson.  He served in the United States Army.  Ernie graduated from the Florida Police Academy and served as a Deputy Sheriff in  Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-daughter, Erin O’Connell; grandson, Jeremy Uber.  Ernie is survived by his wife, Noreen R. Jackson; step-sons, Michael, Kip (wife Teresa), and Sean O’Connell; grandchildren, Briana, Seamus, Kaleen, Michael, and Kevin O’Connell.

Lee Willard Moody was born November 14, 1946 to the late Orgetorix and Corena Moody in Providence, Kentucky. Lee’s educational journey began in the Rosenwald School System in Providence. After his family moved to Missouri, Lee attended and graduated from Parkway Central High School in Chesterfield, Missouri. He furthered his education and studied Speech Pathology, Oral Reading and Theater at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri.
It was there that he joined the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and became a proud “Omega Man” who truly believed the Greek phrase “friendship is essential to the soul”.
Lee worked for many years as a Speech Specialist in the Northeast Metro 916 Intermediate School District located in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. In June 2006, he retired with more than 20 years of devoted service. Lee was an avid sports fan who loved watching his favorite NFL team, the Minnesota Vikings.
In 2010, Lee and his mother returned to Providence after many years of living in Missouri. Lee was a caring and devoted son who spent his later years providing excellent care for his mother until her death.
Lee’s life will be forever remembered and his memory greatly cherished by his best friend and companion: Shannon Starks; and her children: DeNaleigh and Jarvis. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of cousins and friends.
Services will be Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be noon until service time. Burial is at Cumberland Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.masonbrothersfs.com.

Cuba Little-Heseman, age 84, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 2:20 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2019, at North River Health Campus.

Cuba was born May 17, 1935, in Webster County, KY, to Lonnie and Anna Rose (Cullen) Harkins. Cuba graduated from Providence, Kentucky High School in 1953.  She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education Degrees from University of Evansville.  She retired from Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation in 1995.  During her 30 years of service there, she taught at Oak Hill, Tompkins and Hebron Elementary Schools. She also taught on adjunct faculty at University of Evansville.

Cuba was nominated for Indiana State Teacher of the Year in 1980 and was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association, as well as the National Education Association and Delta Kappa Gamma, Pi Chapter.

Cuba was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ since 1992, where she served on the Church Council and Altar Guild.

Cuba is survived by her daughters, Holly Little-Adams (Dan) of Evansville, IN and Amy (Little) Brooks (Matt) of Holliston, MA; grandson, Tyler Joseph Adams (Sara); great granddaughter, Layla Marie; granddaughter, Kendall Katherine Adams (Doug Pilcher), great granddaughter, Ellie Jo Pilcher; grandson, Logan Matthew Brooks; granddaughter, Peyton Marie Brooks; sisters, Lonnye Rose Dorris and Roxy Allen (Roger); brothers, David Harkins (Ann), William Harkins (Jane), Johnnie Harkins and Jack Harkins (Judy); and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Billy Joe Little in 1994; second husband, Raymond C. Heseman in 2003; sister, Marie Ailes in 2003; and brother, James C. “Buddy” Harkins in 1964.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of North River Health Campus for their kindness, care and compassion.
