Obituary for Bruce Gene Foreman

Bruce Gene Foreman went home to be with the Lord on July 1, 2019 at St. Anthony’s Hospice in Henderson. He was born in Evansville, In on August 24, 1959. He was graduated from Henderson County High School. He was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Bruce was a cook at Rally’s Restaurant. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and doing crossword puzzles. He loved being with his family whenever he could. Bruce never met a stranger and was loved by all who came in contact with him. He was preceded in death by his mother: Zittie Foreman.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, one daughter: Angie Floyd; 2 grandchildren; six siblings: Keith Foreman, Joe foreman, Tony Foreman, May Foreman, Stacy Foreman, James Foreman. A host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Bruce is gone but not forgotten! We’re going to miss him but God loves him more!
Something that we always said was “Am I my brother’s keeper?” and we all said, “Yes, I am!” God is keeping you now, brother!

Jaylan Phelps Cook, 26, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019 in Ridgeland, South Caroloina. He was born on January 3, 1993, in Evansville, Indiana, to Chanel Cook and Marcus Ivy. He leaves to cherish his memories: two children, daughter Leilyn Cheeks and son Zaylan Cook; his parents; his longtime partner, Bria Smalls; his sisters, Gabrielle Griffin and Kaylayah Ivy; his grandparents, Esther Moore and Jerry Cook; his great-grandparents, Clara and Harold Jackson and Imogene and Jerry Lowery; his great-great grandmother Virginia Johnson; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends. 

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. , Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, 867 E Walnut St, Evansville, IN 47713, officiated by Reverend Larry A. Rascoe, Sr. Friends may visit Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the church. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. R Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements and care.

Child death

The victim today from the child death at the University of Southern Indiana has been identified as Oliver Dill, Age 3. The investigation is ongoing a although the preliminary autopsy has been completed pending the result of lab tests a cause of death will not be released. The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office will release information as it becomes available.

 

A letter from President Rochon to the USI Community

As a parent and the president of the University of Southern Indiana, I am deeply saddened to inform you of the tragic death of a young child as a result of being left in a parked car on our campus. We are supporting the work of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Department in their investigation and thank USI Public Safety for their immediate response and that of the wonderful staff of the Children’s Learning Center who provided aid.

The Children’s Learning Center (CLC) will be closed tomorrow, July 10, and we are assessing if it will reopen later in the week. We understand this will be inconvenient for parents who need childcare, but our thoughts right now are in supporting the individuals who are deeply affected by this tragedy and will need some time to process their grief to best support the children in their care. We will provide updates to parents on when the CLC will reopen as soon as possible.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of this young child. This is a loss no parent should bear. If you have a child in your life, please hug them tight and remember that counseling services are available if you need them.

Pigeon creek

The Vanderburgh County Coroners Office and The Evansville Police Department are investigating the discovery of an individual in Pigeon Creek near its confluence with the Ohio River. The victim has been identified as Raymond Stayancho, age 67, of Evansville. An autopsy determine he died as a result of drowning. The investigation is ongoing and no determination of manner of death has been made.

 

Child Death Investigation

On July 9, 2019 at 1:46 pm Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the University of Southern Indiana for a medical emergency involving a toddler. It was determined on scene that the toddler was unresponsive after being left in a car on campus for several hours by a parent.  Life saving measures were attempted by Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputies, University of Southern Indiana Public Safety personnel, AMR Ambulance services, and Perry Township Fire Department personnel.

The toddler died on scene where the Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office responded to investigate. Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s detectives worked with the Coroner’s Office and USI Public Safety to investigate the death. Coroner Steve Lockyear will release the identities of the toddler and parents after the autopsy that is scheduled for this evening. Further information will be released as it develops.

The initial investigation by Sheriff’s Office detectives has resulted in no arrests being made. As is customary practice in similar investigations the official case file will be submitted to the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office for final review.
