Obituary for Linda Tou Gorman

Linda Tou (Raber) Gorman, 66, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.

Linda was born June 14, 1953 in Henderson, KY to the late Harold and Mildred (Crowder) Raber. She worked as a preschool teacher at Head Start in Evansville; enjoyed playing cards and loved her family more than anything.

Surviving Linda are her husband of 49 years, Will Gorman; two sons and their wives, Timothy (Kim) Gorman of Henderson and Brian (Julie) Gorman of Newburgh; two sisters, Marilyn (Donald) Burton of Evansville and Carolyn (Tony) Toopes of Newburgh; five grandchildren, Keith, Nicholas, Conner and Lexi Gorman and Ashley Haire and ten great grandchildren.

Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. Graveside services will follow at Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson.

Harold Forche, 89, of Evansville, died on Monday, July 1, 2019 at the Heritage Nursing Facility.

Harold was employed at Bristol- Myers for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He was a 1947 graduate of Reitz Memorial High School. Harold was a member of Sacred Heart and St. Boniface Catholic Churches, Hilltop Groove, Knights of Columbus, and the Friday Night Dance Club. He was an avid football fan and was on the Mater Dei High School Cub Football coaching staff for 6 years, and was also an avid golfer with 4 holes-in-one. He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Florida to visit family and play golf. Harold was preceded in death by Mary Lou, his wife of 62 years, his sister June Lord, his brother Bill Forche, and his parents Tony (Anton) and Tillie Forche.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Davene Forche of Las Vegas, Nevada; granddaughter, Ellie Forche of Los Angeles, CA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews living in Indiana and Florida.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Rev. Lowell Will officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:30 AM until service time on Tuesday at St. Boniface Church.

Chandler, IN. – Melissa Sue Kunkel, 58, of Chandler, Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019, at her home.
Melissa was born in Evansville, Indiana on February 22, 1961, to Gerrill “Butch” and Brenda (Hart) Rudolph.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Steven Kunkel, and her niece, Emily Rose Achilles.

Melissa is survived by her husband, Randall Doyle of Chandler, IN; children, Andrew Kunkel and his wife, Angie of Chandler, IN; Allyre Lincoln and her husband, Michael of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Logan, Luke, Landon, Amey, Kaylee and Riley; parents, Gerrill and Brenda of Greenville, KY; siblings, Melinda Hinton and her husband, Gary of TN; Bryan Rudolph and his wife, Susan of Larkspur, CO; Melanie Boggess and her husband, Joe of Greenville, KY.

A mass will be held at 9 A.M. on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at St. Clement Catholic Church in Boonville, Indiana, with Father Ted Temple officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana.

Visitation will be from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Friday, July 5, 2019, at Koehler Funeral Home in Boonville, Indiana.

SEPTEMBER 15, 1925 ~ JUNE 28, 2019 (AGE 93)

Evelyn M. (Rohlfer) Vanhooser, age 93, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 2:35 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital – Evansville.

Evelyn was born September 15, 1925, in Evansville, IN, to Leonard and Margaret (Manger) Rohlfer. She attended Culver Grade School and Bosse High School. Evelyn worked as a bookkeeper for International Steel Company for 12 ½ years. She was a lifelong member of Bethel United Church of Christ and was active in church life, teaching Sunday School, serving on various boards, was an advisor for youth groups, worked in the church office for over 20 years, and after retirement, she continued to volunteer in the church office until the age of 91. Evelyn was a 50-year member of The Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile and was a member of the Ladies Auxilary of VFW 1114.

Evelyn and her family enjoyed traveling the United States and abroad. Evelyn enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. She was very family oriented and will be greatly missed by her loving family.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, David Vanhooser (Michele) and Michael Vanhooser; grandson, Stephen Vanhooser (Laurel); sister-in-law, Faye Heneisen; and several nieces and nephews.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 57 years, William H. Vanhooser; brother, Jim Rohlfer; and sister, Mary Jockell.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2019 at Bethel United Church of Christ, 3029 North Green River Road with Dr. Stephanie Weiner officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Beverly Jean Hicks, 71, of Newburgh, IN, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Bell Oaks Place. She was born on June 2, 1948, in Evansville, IN, to the late Charles and Shirley Mae (Bice) Goodman.

Beverly was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She loved to cook, often making large meals for her family and friends. She volunteered for several outreach programs to help others.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Geri Gowins.

Beverly is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gerald Hicks; daughter, Stacy Hicks; grandchildren, Zachary and Brandon Hicks, Allyssa DeVault, and Ryan and Evan Gowins; sisters, Vivian Sullivan of WI, Pamela K. Goodman of Olney, IL, and Patricia Newton of Newburgh; brother, Charles Goodman; stepfather, William Kelsie of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Hwy 261, Newburgh, Indiana, officiated by Pastor Ken Slater, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel.

Obituary of Kit Holland-Eichholz

Kit Holland-Eichholz, 72, Evansville, IN, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019. She was born on January 14, 1947 in Owensboro, KY to the late Norwood and Bessie Marie (King) Patterson.

She attended Purdue University where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. After college, she taught at Friends Academy in Glen Cove, NY, the Green Vale School in Old Brookville, NY and the Elgin Academy in Elgin, IL. Kit was a Board Member for several terms for the town of Northfield, IL and a Mayoral Representative Designee at the Northwest Municipal Conference of Mayors. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Newburgh where she assisted with services, she was a member of Warrick County Democrats, Habitat for Humanity, Girl Scouts of America and the League of Women Voters in Illinois.

Kit is survived by her husband of 33 years, John Eichholz; son, Christopher Holland (Siri) of St. Charles, IL; daughter, Ainsley Owens (Danny) of Evansville; son, Jonathan Holland-Eichholz (Maryah) of Evansville; grandchildren, Parker, Taylor and Tanner Holland, Tehya Simmons, Cullen Holland-Eichholz, Tripp Owens, Tyler Owens, Austin Owens, Ashley Owens and Jeramiah Owens; and many loving relatives.

Julia M. Heilman, 78, Evansville, IN, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on July 8, 1940 in Mortons Gap, KY, to E.B and Helon (Gatlin) Welch.

Julia graduated from F.J. Reitz High School and worked in the athletic office where she met her husband, Charles. She retired from Sears after 30 years of service as Human Resource Specialist. She was an active member of Howell General Baptist Church where she loved playing the piano and singing in the choir. Julia taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Queen Esther Missionary Society. Through her school, job and church, she met some life-long friends who she still enjoyed spending time with. She served on the board at the Evansville Protestant Home and also played the piano for the residents. Julia loved shopping, especially her annual shopping trip with her daughters. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family on vacations and attending her grandchildren’s activities.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, E.B and Helon Welch and her nephew Brandon Burton Kelly.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles Heilman; daughters, Lesa Heilman Woodruff (Bruce), Kendra Heilman Montgomery (Gerald) and Amy Heilman Wedding (Jeff); grandchildren, Kayla Mayer (Bryan), Haley Woodruff, Logan and Luke Montgomery, Collin and Jacob Wedding; sisters, Sharon Kelly (Larry) of Magnolia, TX, Rebecca Betulius (Steve) of Westerville, OH; and nieces, nephews and aunts.

Nancy graduated from Indiana State College and held a real estate license. She worked for the Evansville Police Department and retired from the Vanderburgh County Auditors Department.

She was preceded in death by her former husband Dennis Dale.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Edward Newton.

Louise is survived by her Children, Charles “Chuck” Newton (Kay), David Newton (Patti), and Tina Chilton (Bill); 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
