“LEFT JAB AND RIGHT JAB” JULY 15, 2019

LEFT JAB AND RIGHT JAB”

“Right Jab And Left Jab” was created because we have two commenters that post on a daily basis either in our “IS IT TRUE” or “Readers Forum” columns concerning National or International issues.
Joe Biden and Ronald Reagan’s comments are mostly about issues of national interest.  The majority of our “IS IT TRUE” columns are about local or state issues, so we have decided to give Mr. Biden and Mr. Reagan exclusive access to our newly created “LEFT JAB and RIGHT JAB”  column. They now have this post to exclusively discuss national or world issues that they feel passionate about.
We shall be posting the “LEFT JAB” AND “RIGHT JAB” several times a week.  Oh, “Left Jab” is a liberal view and the “Right Jab is representative of the more conservative views. Also, any reader who would like to react to the written comments of the two gentlemen is free to do so.

Crushers even series with game

0
The Lake Erie Crushers pulled away late from the Evansville Otters Saturday, scoring five runs in the ninth inning and defeating the Otters 9-1 to even the series.

After scoreless first and second innings, the Crushers scored the first run of the game as Kody Ruedisili hit into a fielder’s choice in the top of the third inning to give the Crushers a 1-0 lead.

The Otters had a golden opportunity to take the lead in the bottom of the third.

Making his first start as an Otter, outfielder Jake Gozzo reached first base on a dropped third strike call, as catcher Bryan DeLaRosa could not throw to first baseman Jake Veith in time after dropping the pitch from starter Jared Koenig.

With one out, David Cronin worked a walk, giving the Otters runners on first and second.

Keith Greishaber singled to make the bases loaded with one out and Ryan Long stepping to the dish.

Unfortunately, Long struck out for the first of two times in the evening, and a fly out by Mike Rizzitello ended the threat for the Otters.

Evansville stranded two runners in the fourth and fifth innings without a run scoring.

An RBI single by Ruedisili in the fifth and a solo home run by Emmanuel Marrero in the sixth gave the Crushers a 3-0 lead.

Otters starter Austin Nicely went seven innings, allowing three runs – two earned – on five hits. Nicely took the loss.

A solo home run by Lake Erie’s Aaron Hill in the eighth extended the Crushers’ lead to four.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Otters scored their first run of the game on a pinch-hit RBI single by Dakota Phillips, driving in Rizzitello to make the score 4-1.

Lake Erie would pull away in the top of the ninth to secure the win, sending 11 men to the plate, scoring five runs, including a three-run home run by Jake Veith, to give the Crushers their 9-1 advantage.

HISTORY OF THE ICONIC O’DANIEL FAMILIES

0

Way back to 1934, when Joseph E. O’Daniel partnered with George Ranes Sr. to form O’Daniel-Ranes Oldsmobile in downtown Evansville, Indiana. With the expansion in mind, the O’Daniel family grew its business within Evansville, and to other cities such as Omaha, NE, Louisville, KY, Bloomington, IN, and Fort Wayne, IN.  Dealerships in both Fort Wayne and Omaha are still owned and operated by members of the O’Daniel family.

In 1964, Joe O’Daniel’s son, D. Patrick O’Daniel, joined the family business at the Key Ford dealership in downtown Evansville. He began his career as the company’s Chief Accountant and was later promoted to General Manager of the Ford Dealership, before purchasing his own dealership in 1971.

The new company, called D-Patrick, Inc., sold and serviced Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz vehicles on Green River Road on Evansville’s Eastside. D. Patrick later purchased Key Ford Honda, moving it to Green River Road before adding BMW, Porsche, and Audi to the Green River Road location. D-Patrick eventually purchased O’Daniel-Ranes Oldsmobile Nissan. The Nissan dealership was moved to the Green River Road location. General Motors later discontinued the Oldsmobile brand.

In 1987, D. Patrick’s son, Mike O’Daniel, joined D-Patrick. Two years later, D. Patrick’s son-in-law, Ray Farabaugh, joined D-Patrick. In 1998, after completing the NADA dealer candidate program and filling multiple management roles within the dealership, Mike O’Daniel and Ray Farabaugh purchased D-Patrick, Inc.

D-Patrick has since added the Lincoln franchise to the downtown Ford dealership and moved the Honda dealership to the Division Street Auto Plaza. The Ford dealership in Boonville was also purchased as well as the expansion of the D-Patrick Body Shop and Glass business to be one of the largest in the Evansville Area. In 2014 D-Patrick Nissan moved from its’ Green River Road home of 20 years to a brand new completely green-built facility with over 400 vehicles and 16 state of the art service bays.

D-Patrick, Inc. employs the finest dealership staff, offers the best service and sales experience, maintains the greatest selection of new and used vehicles and offers the best deals in the tri-state area. The D-Patrick service, body and glass shops offer the highest quality repairs available anywhere. We provide our factory-trained master technicians with the latest technology and diagnostic equipment to ensure your vehicle is completed in a timely manner and repaired correctly…the first time.

THIS WEEK, SENATOR BRAUN

0

THIS WEEK, SENATOR BRAUN spoke out about the Trump administration’s decision not to pursue a rule to reform prescription drug price negotiations, pushed forward with his plans to lower prescription drug prices for Hoosiers, and reaffirmed his commitment to putting American workers first.

Senator Braun released the following statement, reported in POLITICO, after the Trump administration announced its decision to scuttle a rule that would reform the rebate system in Medicare in Medicaid. Senator Braun introduced legislation that would expand the rule to the commercial insurance market as well.

“Nobody is working harder than President Trump to lower the cost of healthcare, but the administration’s decision today to allow the corrupt practice of middlemen negotiators pocketing patients’ money through rebates is a clear victory for big healthcare and a loss for patients.”

As Brian Francisco reported for the Journal Gazette, Senator Braun was undeterred by the decision and is going forward with his legislation that will ensure rebate savings will go to American patients, not big healthcare’s pockets.

“This fight is not over and I will continue to push my legislation that forces these savings to be directly passed onto consumers.”

Senator Braun joined Guy Benson on Fox Business’s Kennedy to discuss the pending Obamacare lawsuit and his plans to bring reform to our opaque healthcare system.

Senator Braun penned an op-ed for The Hill on President Trump’s executive action on healthcare transparency and his proposals to make healthcare costs transparent for Hoosiers that are included in the Lower Health Care Costs Act, soon headed to a vote.

“If we can include consumers in the negotiation by giving them some skin in the game – encouraging them to shop around for prices like we do for car insurance and big screen TVs – then competition will do what it does in all other industries: lower prices.”

Senator Braun joined an effort this week to ensure that American-made materials and businesses are prioritized when U.S. tax dollars are spent on infrastructure projects.

“‘In Indiana, Made-in-America is more than a slogan: More Hoosiers are employed in manufacturing than in any other industry,’ Republican Braun said in the statement. ‘U.S. infrastructure projects ought to support workers and create jobs in South Bend and Gary, not in Shenzhen and Guangzhou.'”

This week, Senator Braun remembered the legacy of Ross Perot, an outsider candidate who helped pave the way for his outsider businessman run for Senate, releasing the following statement:

“Ross Perot was right about the dangers of NAFTA and runaway government spending because he spoke from real experience – not as a career politician – and paved the way for entrepreneurs like me and President Trump to shake the system in D.C.”
