EVSC Names New Bosse Head Football Coach

0

the EVSC Board of School Trustees approved the appointment of DaMarcus Ganaway as the new head football coach at Bosse High School. Most recently, Ganaway has served as the head football coach at Ohio County High School in Kentucky for the past three years. Ganaway also taught physical education and strength conditioning at Ohio County.

Ganaway graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College with a B.S. in Sport Management. While at Kentucky Wesleyan College, he was a four-year starter and leading wide receiver. During his senior season he served as team captain and earned “Receiver of the Year” for the Great Lakes Football Conference. After his time at KWC, he later signed an NFL contract with the New York Jets. Ganaway also is a graduate of Ben Davis High School where he was a standout athlete in football, basketball and track.

In his first year as head coach at Ohio County, Ganaway led his team to its first winning season in 6A (largest class in Kentucky) since the team’s 2011 season. During his tenure at Ohio County, the football program had increased participation numbers each season. Throughout his coaching experience, Ganaway has trained and mentored multiple college football players.

In addition to coaching, Ganaway is currently the CEO and co-founder of Dynasty Sports Performance where he trains and helps young student-athletes improve their skills.

“Coach Ganaway is excited to become a Bulldog and work with our students both inside and outside of the classroom,” said Andy Owen, EVSC director of athletics. “He brings a wealth of experience both on and off the field, and comes to the EVSC as a very highly recommended teacher and coach. He is an energetic and engaging leader that will have a tremendous influence upon both the school and the community.  He also has the passion, knowledge and energy to move Bosse’s football program in the right direction.”

HATFIELD RECEIVES HUMANE LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR ANIMAL ADVOCACY

0

State Representative Ryan Hatfield (D-Evansville) today received the Legislator of the Year Award from the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) during the 2020 Humane Lobby Day.

Hatfield received this award for his legislation passed last session, House Bill 1615, that strengthens Indiana’s animal cruelty laws.

House Bill 1615 passed unanimously through the House last session and raised base penalties for crimes such as abandoning or abusing an animal and prohibits an animal control program, animal shelter or humane society from killing an animal by any means other than humane euthanasia.

“It is an honor to receive this award from The Humane Society of the United States, an organization known for being at the forefront of animal-rights issues across the nation,” said Hatfield.

“I was thrilled to see House Bill 1615 signed into law last year. It is common sense legislation meant to protect both animals and Hoosiers,” continued Hatfield. “This legislation is a step in the right direction and I hope to see Indiana continue down this path towards a safer Indiana for all.”

Each year, The Humane Society of the United States awards one legislator from each state with the Legislator of the Year Award for their efforts to make a difference in the lives of animals.
