  1. IS IT TRUE – the Evansville State Hospital grounds is a tobacco free campus, …open from dawn till dusk all year long? …and that Indiana’s largest known Cherry Oak is located there? ….and that the tree is over 200 years old and the distance around its’ trunk is 22 feet?

IS IT TRUE – that in 2004 The Indiana State Legislature deeded 1.2 acres to the Master Garden Association of Southwestern Indiana? and that, …there are over 20 gardens and points of interest to walk at you leisure?
and, …that each year the Victory Garden produces and gives over 1200 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables to the Evansville Food Bank?

IS IT TRUE – that the adjacent Eykamp Scout Center houses the Buffalo Trace Council? …and that the Woodmere Disc Golf Course offers a fantastic layout and, …is VERY easy on the eyes?

IS IT TRUE – there is an inconspicuous dirt-bank where this reader has personally seen a groundhog AND a coyote?

IS IT TRUE – that the West edge of the grounds is the location for the Evansville Youth Soccer League and the Evansville Youth Baseball League? …and that these are guarded by more negative and unwelcoming signage than could ever be construed as inviting? and, …that they proclaim: DANGER GO SLOW – WARNING NO PARKING HERE – NO DOGS ALLOWED – NO DOUBLE PARKING – ONE WAY – DO NOT ENTER?
IS IT TRUE – that rules are necessary – but can be posted in a friendlier – more inviting way? and, …that this stretch of roadside has more red letters than the backside of a Clorox Jug?

IS IT TRUE – That work has begun on the pedestrian overpass at the Lloyd and Vann Ave? IS IT TRUE – red – blue – yellow and green locator flags are popping up like crocus’s in the spring? That hardhats and muddy boots can be seen at the site? …and that when the overpass is complete the State Hospital Grounds/Wesselman Park experience will be the best it’s ever been? …

    • Love the State Hospital Grounds, Wesselman’s is a local treasure. If our local democrats had of thrown the amount of money to our parks as they did to ghost town the results would be amazing. Gail didn’t stand up for our parks as the Director of the Parks Dept and she’ll probably do no better as the mayor, if she can drag enough lefties in to vote for her.

  3. Banned?–I use to play in a Heavy Metal Band when I was young,–I played the Tuba.
Some might say I’m Rebellious, and still full of hot air,–but I ditched the Tuba long ago.
P.S. My Dad wanted me to be a Rocket Scientist,–but I wouldn’t listen to him.

      • No, I’m currently a Warrick County resident, having sold my home in Evansville a few weeks ago. I do not post anymore about Evansville, only general comments in support of the CCO it’s self, which I still read. I have commented on National issues that are sometimes discussed on this site, although rarely, as I really don’t think my opinion will change a thing on the National stage. I currently have made an offer on a home in the vicinity of Charleston SC. but I still visit this site to view up dates on how the future of my home town is faring. After living my whole life up to now in Evansville(I’m 72), I sincerely wish Evansville the Best.

        • Mr LaRue

Great. My son graduated from college of charleston and lives in SC. We visit Charleston/Folly Beach each year and I lived there a couple of years (Navy). When you mentioned playing the Tuba it reminded me of someone else who played the Tuba yet lives in Nashville now. Good luck with your potential move and enjoy SC.

  4. IIT: That the Mayor of Evansville just gave Ben Kunkel another pay day loan to pay off the previous unpaid loan?

IIT: That no one knows if Mr. Kunkel’s “pay day” will ever arrive?

IIT: That Mayor Winnecke’s press release to the local newspaper, describing Mr. Kunkel as “having paid off his debt to the city”, is laughable, at best, and purposely misleading, at worst.

IIT: That the taxpayers of Evansville should demand either their money back from Mr. Kunkel, or some form of collateral equal to the value of this recent loan?

IIT: That this Meridian Plaza project was conceived and carried out under the administration of former Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel?

  5. Interesting commentary that actually helps explain the Community Organizer-in Chief’s views to the worlds largest state sponsor of terrorism:

“Mr. Obama has a vision of a warm, lovable Iran that no one else shares. “They have a path to break through isolation and they should seize it,” he told NPR Radio in December. “Because if they do, there’s incredible talent and resources and sophistication inside of Iran, and it would be a very successful regional power.”

Powerful enough, perhaps, to redeem the mullahs’ oft-stated goal, to wipe Israel off the map. The mad scientists are hard at work in Tehran, but there’s no love in the Islamic bomb.”

Why Obama is fighting like the dickens so world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, the radical Islamic Mullahs, can be a successful regional power? It makes no sense from an American security point of interest. The Egyptians, Saudis and Jordanians are now fighting against the Iranian sponsored rebels that overthrew the Yemeni government. Obama’s chaotic “leadership” is nicely summed up in this statement:

“It is a perplexing time for foreign relations to say the least. America finds itself dropping bombs to support a stalled Iranian-backed Iraqi Army offensive against ISIS in Tikrit. We are providing support to a Sunni Arab nation coalition against Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. And yet we’re engaged in nuclear negotiations with the Iranian regime — the number one state sponsor of Islamic terrorism in the world. However, America also removed Iran and Hezbollah from the terrorist list, so this latest revelation should come as no surprise to any of us.”

  6. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Gov. Pence for signing the Religious Freedom Law. You had the choice of doing what is best, what is safe or what is right and you choose to do what is right. That took political courage which is rare in today’s political world. I don’t believe in a god but it seems to offer hope to a large portion of our society and they really do a lot of good work, and they have rights too. Even though I don’t believe in god the liberals have started to make me believe there is a devil and a destructive one at that.

        • You are a Right Wing Nut… that is for sure! You think it’s alright for Pence and the State to give the Green light to religious oppression of gays and other minorities. To me that’s totally against the teachings of the son of god, Jesus. Jesus didn’t persecute the poor and sick, he healed and helped them back onto the path of righteousness. So I guess that makes you in the wrong with the teachings of Jesus? How do you explain that to other people?

          • Move, I don’t know how to explain it. No one will come forward an explain how the new law differs from the Fed. law or the 20 other states who has passed such a law.

          • Are you saying that gays and minorities are poor and sick and we need to get them back on the path of righteousness? That is the most bigoted, racist, sexist thing I have ever seen on this site. That goes totally against what is right. I think what I just read from you was your true feelings and they slipped out under pseudo indignation. To most of us this law means nothing but some take and practice their religion very seriously and view gays according to the bible and they should have the right to not associate with them. Some Christian simply wish to avoid contact with gays, now muslims, that’s a different story. There’s some very smart gays in this country that realize getting into a battle with Christians is counterproductive and something to avoid. They are smart enough to pick their fights wisely and they’re staying out of the fray on this one. Democrats, liberal democrats to me have always been a tick off, sort of like a clock that loses a second every couple of hours, not a big deal until it accumulates over time. The cumulative effects of democrats on Evansville is what we have today, a city destined for greatness but cronyism and nepotism was a burden too great to carry. All you ex whirlpool workers out there, the democrats sold you out for a new stadium that probably cost close to $200 million dollars and Cleveland Tennessee picked up your jobs for 30 million dollars. Vote democrat, it’s good for union jobs.

          • Jesus taught that marriage was between one man and one woman. You cannot discriminate based on religion or sexuality. So hows it right that a gay person demand that a religious person participate in his or her same sex wedding?

Anyone who says this law allows for discrimination is a grant of the law.

          • Moveon, I am greatly concerned that Governor Pence agreed with anything Obama voted for:

“In an appearance on ABC’s This Week, Indiana governor Mike Pence defended his state’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act by noting that Barack Obama had voted for the same law as an Illinois state senator.

“The Religious Freedom Restoration Act was signed into federal law by President Bill Clinton more than 20 years ago, and it lays out a framework for ensuring that a very high level of scrutiny is given any time government action impinges on the religious liberty of any American,” Pence said. “After last year’s Hobby Lobby case, Indiana properly brought the same version that then-state senator Barack Obama voted for in Illinois before our legislature.”

This Week Host George Stephanoplous later asked White House press secretary Josh Earnest to respond to Pence’s claim: “Josh, you just heard the governor say right there this is the same law, he says, that Barack Obama voted for as a state senator back in Illinois.”

Earnest didn’t dispute the Indiana governor’s statement. “Look, if you have to go back two decades to try to justify something that you’re doing today, it may raise some question about the wisdom of what you’re doing,” Earnest said.”

  7. In case you were interested in Hillary’s secret e-mails on the Benghazi attack where our Ambassador and 3 other Americans died at the hands of radical Islamic terrorists without any attempt at rescue:

“Hillary Clinton wiped her email server “clean,” permanently deleting all emails from it, the leader of the House committee investigating the 2012 terror attacks in Benghazi said Friday.

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., said the former secretary of state has failed to produce a single new document in recent weeks and has refused to relinquish her server to a third party for an independent review, as Gowdy has requested.

“While it is not clear precisely when Secretary Clinton decided to permanently delete all emails from her server, it appears she made the decision after October 28, 2014, when the Department of State for the first time asked the secretary to return her public record to the Department,” Gowdy said in a statement. “Not only was the secretary the sole arbiter of what was a public record, she also summarily decided to delete all emails from her server ensuring no one could check behind her analysis in the public interest.”

    • Who cares what the motivation for the attack was? What difference does it make? Were you this concerned about the motivation for the dozens of attacks on embassies when bush was pres?

      • Excellent. The time we spend at OFI meetings having our junior members memorize and repeat endlessly the party line of the day continues to bear fruit.

      • Indeed, there were attacks on other embassies prior to the annointed one. The differene is those administrations didnt perpetuate a lie on national news and before the UN for weeks. To work in this asministation being comfortable with lies and lying is a prerequisite

        • It was a terrorist attack. They said so. I’m sure said terrorists probably weren’t too happy about the anti Muslim video. Again, the motivation is totally irrelevant.

          • TheI outrage over the video was contrived. The attack was not spontanious but rather planned and armed to the teeth

    • Before they got to Washington the Clinton’s felt the laws didn’t apply to them. Nothing has changed.

  8. Yes, the idiot governor signed legal discrimination into law and he is so stupid he thinks this will actually help his presidential bid, meanwhile the entire country is alternating between laughter and outrage. Welcome to Indiana, the HATE state. Sign the petition at http://www.moveon.org to rid this state of Rev. Pence There are over 77,000 signatures and growing every minute

      I agree:
Pence has identified himself, … and by our association, …every Hoosier as backward – ignorant – hardheaded – bigots, …who would cling to their prejudices at all costs. Indiana is an embarrassment to the United States of America. …

      • ” Indiana is an embarrassment to the United States of America. …” Its changeable though bubba. The state is well situated for the maelstrom of climate migration. All the models are showing that to be a fact. Its playing out everyday and will not leave bump room for the ignorant. Indiana needs to diversify its environmental profile as much as its social economic atmosphere. Everything that comes out of those sessions in Indianapolis seems to be in the direct opposite direction needed to set the pace forward for the coming years and decades.
“Governance by bimbo” needs to go away real time fast. Southwestern Indiana seems to have the market cornered on “governance by bimbos.” One has to start somewhere and right there is as good a place as any when it comes to the sessions and they’re timing that’s completely wasted and lost with the southern Indianas bimbo bunch organization.

BTW, if ones mystical religious beliefs specifies one should avoid bimbos maybe? If in Indiana one could post a rag on the front marquis the clearly states ” Currently
Not serving Bimbos ” ….Box blonds need not enter.

        • Sen. Harry Reid announced he would not run again. (That’s good). He and Sen Durbin want Sen Schumer to take over. (That’s bad). This news should make the hair on fire’s who post on here happy.

        • It is outrageous that you refer to Representative Riecken, Stephanie Brinkerhoff-Riley, and Missy Mosby as bimbos. The southern Indiana Democratic Party has no more loyal comrades than these.

Please remember at all times that our organization stands for ORGANIZED, purposeful idiocy, not idiocy for the sake of idiocy.

          • You just referred the picked out references you creep. So. That ones on you. Our group did not, the Reicken candidate doesn’t appear to be box blond, and the others you’ve mentioned are not state reps either.
With exception on your immediate local, the Mosby bag is certainly the only one that definitely qualifies as an classic political bimbo. Past presentation has certainly earned the score with that flapping female patronage idiot.
Comrade you are an further flapping fool in yourself. Median thinking abhors such input as yours . You a box blond , or just another local bald headed hair brained idiot?

          • Hey Cowboy. How does it feel to be put in your place by “V” all the time? 🙂

I didn’t know that the EC&P Hired Blond Cowboys.

          • Move, I didn’t realize V did that. i can’t find a post where he did. He usually likes to cut and paste. Takes him back to his grade school days.

      • The governor has taken a stance and it’s time Christians quit being a bunch of sissies and stand behind someone who is willing to fight for their rights. Conservatives are valued and loyal consumers. Conservatives are the type of customers that come into your business and security doesn’t have to follow them around. Liberals tried this boycott against Chicka fila and their business had a growth spurt and a whole new customer base. All the hype is from a dead or dying liberal media. It will go away in a couple of weeks and businesses that are stupid enough to put out one of those signs may see a decrease in patronage. The last election should have been a sign that the moderate democrat has made a shift to the right.

    • evvman, I asked this yesterday but didn’t receive a response from anyone. Is Indiana’s law law different from the other states who have passed laws on this matter ? How about the Federal law passed in the 90’s. How does it vary from it ?

      • We have asserted that there is a total difference. That should be enough for you right-wingers. What difference does it make why we won’t explain there is a total difference?

          Ie: Turds for regression.

          • When “progess” leads to a massive and ever expanding dependent class perhaps it’s time to regress.

    • Pence will run governor and win again. If he runs for President against hoax a honas he will become president. There is nothing in the world that Pence could do to get gays or liberals to vote for him, so he has basically discounted you. Obama is the real King, he has done more to help conservatives than anyone in recent history. He has effectively driven a stake between the forces of good and evil, demonized law enforcement and increased racial tensions. Indiana is on the cutting edge of new prosperity with a diminished union presents and new businesses poised to make Indiana an economic mecca. Evansville will continue to circle the drain as young people who are outside the democrat political arena will leave for non cronyism/nepotism opportunities elsewhere.

  10. Lloyd and carol McClintock , messy, and beaver all together in box at ford center for D2 title game.

    • That figures. You do know that Carol worked for Mike Vandeveer when he was Mayor of Evansville. Carol worked for Russel G. Lloyd Sr as the Director of Evansville, IN parks and recreation before she worked for Mike. She swings both ways. I’d say she was as qualified as most anyone else to be director of Parks and Recreations. It does not take too much brain power to run a park system. IMHO. I’m pretty sure she had to do some party work for both parties when she was employed by the GOP and the Dems.

    • That’s good. Hope the games had a good attendance. Hope the visitors didn’t stumble across this site with all the whiners an anti’s.

      • The Ford Center hosted the Men’s Division II NCAA Basketball Tournament. Roberts Stadium use to hold 12000 people and the Fraud Center only holds ca 9000. There were only 5000 tickets sold and only a out 4300 people actually attended the event. A photo on the EC&P main sports page shows a guy making a shot in the game with the picture showing all the empty seats at the Ford Center in the Background. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Yes it’ was good for Evansville to host the Mens NCAA Division II Basketball Tournament but it’s not going to be here next year and the Ford center is still losing money every year.

    • Yeah, and the whole place squarely smack dab in a Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) toxic waste zone enclosed environmental “jiffypop” failure.

You’ll definitely wanna watch those gene pools .

  11. When are we going to learn about the cause of the Marina Fire on the House Boat. It’s been over a week now and the Chief EFD Fire Investigator has not said anything new about the fire for over a week now. I guess he’s still out in Austin, TX whooping it up and partying with is arson investigation buddies.

    • The whole thing stinks but I’d imagine it would be difficult to get any evidence off a boat that spent 2 weeks underwater. I’d say the boat’s owner and the mysterious boat cleaners’ cell phone records should be reviewed, but probably won’t happen. I’d say it’s a dead issue unless the insurance companies press it. I’m not an attorney though.

      • Ghost I’ve seen pictures of some of the evidence that the investigation has dug up out of the boat remains. I am pretty sure I can see a kerosene heater in the back ground of the picture. The pictures are on the twitter site of the EFD’s Chief Fire Investigator, Ron Howard. He last twitter post with pictures shows him out in Austin, TX attending a convention of Arson Investigators from TX. Evidently he is the only Fire Investigator from Indiana out there. The other 300 attendants are all from TX. These conferences are planned month’s ahead of time and he probably was already scheduled to attend it before the fire occurred. So hopefully he will learn something that he can bring back to EFD and help solved the mystery of the marina’s fire’s cause and origin.

PS In the photo I can see several other burned items sitting on a clean tarp that was laid on the ground near the boat where the investigators are digging though the remains of the burned out boat shell. The paper has reported that 8 items were taken for evidence and in the twitter photo I can see several items laying on the tarp behind the three men in the picture.

  12. This explains much about the Community Organizar-in-Chief acting as if he is the Mayor of Tehran:

“Mr. Obama has a vision of a warm, lovable Iran that no one else shares. “They have a path to break through isolation and they should seize it,” he told NPR Radio in December. “Because if they do, there’s incredible talent and resources and sophistication inside of Iran, and it would be a very successful regional power.”

Meanwhile as Obama is negotiating (surrendering) to the demands of his friendly radical Islamic Mullahs of Iran, the worlds largest state sponsor of terroriship, guess where the Community Organizer sends 1,200 of the US special forces……..yep, to infiltrate the US:

Special forces set to swarm Southwest and operate undetected among civilians in massive military exercise

Operation Jade Helm will see 1,200 service members including Green Berets and SEALs and special forces from the Air Force and Marines in July
Soldiers armed with blank rounds will operate in and around towns in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah and Colorado for 8 weeks
The so-called Realistic Military Training has some residents fearful the drill is a preparation for martial law

Seven Southwestern states will soon be infiltrated by 1,200 military special ops personnel as part of a controversial domestic military training in which some of the elite soldiers will operate undetected among civilians.

Operation Jade Helm begins in July and will last for eight weeks. Soldiers will operate in and around towns in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah and Colorado where some of them wil drop from planes while carrying weapons loaded with blanks in what military officials have dubbed Realistic Military Training.

But with residents of the entire states of Texas and Utah dubbed ‘hostile’ for the purposes of the exercises, Jade Helm has some concerned the drills are too realistic.

    • So…. Folks of a certain political leaning want to our men and women in uniform involved in every shooting war we possibly can wriggle our way into, BUT we don’t want them conducting training on our soil because the 35-40 million residents of the above named states are afraid 1,200 grunts are going to take them over and impose military law?

      Did I get that right?

      • DeltaB, this 7 state exercise makes zero sense. None. We will send 1,200 US special forces to assimilate into the US population. Gee that will be hard, go to Hooters and watch the game and have a few suds. How in the heck does that advance our (United States) national security as the Middle East spirals into war. How does this help the special ops function in an Arabic speaking country? If anything it signals radical Islamic Jihadists that 1,200 of our finest and most capable special forces will be scattered and hiding at a specific time and unavailable if needed when the middle east continues to spiral out of control. Absolute idiocy from the Community Organizer-in-Chief. But, at least he’s consistent.

        • Joe, what level of military expertise do you have that you have determined such an exercise makes zero sense? I’m not trying to be cute, but it appears that about a double handful of professional special operations command level officers think such an exercise IS sensible. If several dozen professional plumbers told you to have pipes installed a certain way at your house, would you decide they probably don’t know what they are doing? I get that you think all bad ideas begin and end with our sitting president, but since the operation in question was developed at the Lieutenant General (3 star) level, I seriously doubt if Obama had any input into it’s development or implementation. He might only be passingly aware of it – – It’s frankly below his paygrade.

You are aware, I presume, that our spec ops troopers do not just operate in Arabic speaking countries, correct? You are also aware that special operations comprise a very wide spectrum of capabilities, including electronic surveillance, direct action, human intelligence gathering as well as others. You are ALSO aware that the ability to work domestically might become more and more important as home grown jihadists proliferate? FWIW, the stated goal of the operation (I read your link) specifically said that ‘large open areas with sparse population’ was one reason for the geographic selection. Large open areas of semi-arid mountainous terrain with a scattering of small towns and a few larger cities – – sound familiar (Hint: Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan…)?

FWIW, an operation consisting of 1200 people is not that impressive (although the geographic spread of this exercise IS impressive). Our battalion level exercises in the USMC routinely included several times that number of personnel, and BN level field training is unimpressively common in the U.S. military.

I would encourage the fine folks in the Southwest to chill out and let our professional warriors plan and conduct the training they think they need to keep the wolves from our door. But that’s just my opinion… 🙂

        • They better not bother the illegal immigrants coming across the border or the Pres. will be involved.

        • DeltaB, I greatly respect your input and wish you were a decision maker. My point is now, with the mid-east in chaos, we send 1,200 of our finest to scatter over the southwest US. If there is a legitimate reason for that, God help us all. If not, complete FUBAR of allocation of our best men and women.

          • I understand your concern. Still, in any military unit there will always be a certain percentage of gunslingers that are standing down for unit or individual training, to refit and reequip, on leave, on loan to other branches (or allied nations), etc., especially in the special operations community. 1,200 is a fairly large group of SOCOM troops to train at one time, but USSOCOM has over 60,000 guns in the fight, so the actual percentage wrapped up in this exercise isn’t that large. I’ll presume that the guys in charge (at least on the military side) have determined they can cover their ongoing operational requirements during the absence of these personnel, and that they can be recalled fairly quickly from the exercise if need be.

I concur that the current situation in the Middle East falls squarely in the ‘God help us all’ category!

    • Move, Are you ready to tell us the difference in the Ind. religious objection law and the other 20 states and Fed law ? If you don’t know, just pass on what your handlers said to reply with if asked.

      • I keep hearing this shit? Do 21 wrongs make a right? Also, Illinois for example has another bill that bans discrimination. We do not. We are the most backwards state in the union. Just was behind some guys in the line in the store that had brought some beer up to the counter and were dumbfounded they couldn’t buy it. We’re stuck in the 1950s thanks to the Republican party.

        • Okay Ghost you tell us what the difference is between the fed. law Pres. Clinton signed and this one. If you don’t know you shouldn’t say the thing is bad.

          • Then why the hell do we need it? Political showboating? How many jobs does this garbage create?

          • If there is no difference, why pass it? Are there not enough redundant laws on the books? Seems like there has been no real benefit to passing the law (if the issue is already covered under Federal Law), and a huge negative response.

So, illuminate me. What was the point?

          • I don’t think this law will stand the test of time in the courts when it’s challenged.

          • Then you can tell me why we needed it, cowboy. If you can come up with a better reason the political grandstanding let me know.

          • Ghost, I’m not the one crying and moaning about a law that i don’t know it’s contents. I would rather move on to a diff topic.

  13. Local award-winning accountant and part-time Editor of the C&P, Tim Ethridge, had a big editorial this Sunday morning about the transfer of ownership of the C & P.

Timmy’s main message was that ‘nothing will change’. He then goes on to say that C & P’s on-line comments will now go through Facebook, and attributed that change to the vendor for the comments section software ‘going out of business in two weeks’.

I smell censorship (of anonymous posters) in front of the Mayoral election. Anyone else ?

    • Only if you have a problem going from anonymous to public. Yes this will stop some comments.

    • Tim is crooked in my opinion and he is a big time GOP supporter. He leans so far to the hard right that he almost falls down when standing still.

And yes Tim is pretty Ignorant about how face books works. But you are right his intent is to make people use their actual names so that they can be bullied by those in power. It’s pretty clear that the EC&P does not want to hear the truth about the city governments actions as told by insiders working or who formally worked for the city. Why else would they delete those type of posts so as to prevent people from knowing the truth about what goes on inside city government.

  14. The Community Organizer-in-Chiefs past plan to arm the “moderate” radical Islamic fighters in the Syrian civil war failed as they joined the “hard core” ISIS and Al Qaeda radical Islamic fighters and are using US supplied weapon systems:

“For the past couple of years, President Barack Obama has pursued the foolish and flawed policy of arming and training so-called “moderate” rebel groups in Syria, then turning them loose to fight against the Assad regime and the Islamic State group.

Unfortunately, many of these “moderate” rebel groups aren’t as moderate as Obama would like us to believe, and on many occasions these groups have ultimately declared allegiance to the Islamic State group, or the Al Qaeda-affiliated Al Nusra Front, bringing their training and weapons with them.”

Jabhat al-Nusra has emerged as the dominant force in rebel-controlled areas of the province after defeating more moderate groups that had received U.S. aid in recent months. Its ascent has further complicated the launch of a program promised by President Obama to train and equip a force of moderate Syrian rebels to confront the Islamic State, which was first announced nine months ago but has not begun.

    • Pretty frustrating to realize half of Americans vote republican against their own interests. If you have a net worth of less than $5 million and you vote republican you’re a bona fide moron.

      • Right now we really can’t argue otherwise Ghost. Its really getting outta hand though. And one has to agree on the frustration aspect. People there are so frustrated they don’t even bother to vote anymore. Talking to them, our global social economic environmental group feels either offering simply screws them just as hard under the mask of a opposing color. Blue, vs Red hell they’re all in the same bed.

        • Don’t forget that the GOP tries to make it harder for people to vote. They want photo ID when none is required and they are all for less time to vote. Both of which decreases the amount of votes cast. I’ve read that some GOP propaganda even give out false information as to where the voting takes place so as to disrupt the voting process. Then there is the HUGE issue of “electronic voting machines” and uncounted or changed votes. If the Chinese and Russian hackers can get into our US Military computers how hard to you think it would be for a hacker to change the vote totals before they are actually officially counted?

  15. John Friend ordinance to allow CC to approve Fund Transfers:

Given the sorry state of City cash balances, why is Friend’s idea not a good one ?

Friend needs to pursue this, and not take ‘NO’ for an answer ?
