Obituary for Mary Jane Zausch

Mary Jane Zausch, 75, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family in Evansville, Indiana on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 3:15 am after a battle with breast cancer. Jane was born September 29, 1943 in Evansville, the second daughter of the late Violet (Hamilton) and William Haas.
Jane graduated from Reitz Memorial High School in 1961. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital for many years.
On October 23, 1965, she married the love of her life, former Evansville Aces basketball player, Edward L. Zausch. They had three children and their family was the passion of her life. They moved to Henderson, Kentucky in 1976 where they met lifetime friends, becoming active members of the community. In 1996, they moved back to Evansville.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife. She enjoyed Mah Jong and Bridge and was an avid international traveler, always meeting each adventure with her characteristic smile. Jane also played tennis much of her life and loved to watch sports.
Jane is survived by her husband, Ed Zausch; three children, Edward Wallace Zausch, Jennifer Leigh Zausch, and William Scott Zausch; grandchildren, Greg, Hank, and Eli Woodward, Elayna, Wyatt, Lillian, and Owen Zausch, Jackson and Sienna Manners; and sisters, Kathleen Lorenz (Richard) and Judy Theis (Edward).
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may visit on Friday, July 5, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. Visitation will continue on Saturday, July 6 from 9:30 am to 10:00 am. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Father Gene Schroeder officiating.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Mausoleum at a later date.
