On Wednesday, September 6th, 2017 at 09:19 AM the Vanderburgh County’s Sheriff’s Office and Scott Township Fire Department responded to a motorcycle crash in the 14000 block of State Road 65 (also known as Big Cythiana Road).

Once on scene, first responders located a male lying in a grassy area along the west side of the roadway. According to witness statements, the motorcyclist was traveling south bound when he attempted to pass a passenger vehicle. The motorcyclist did not have sufficient room to complete the pass and collided head on with a tractor trailer that was north bound on Big Cynthiana.

The motorcyclist was transported to Deaconess Hospital where he died from his injuries. Pursuant to state law regarding crashes involving serious bodily injury or death, the driver of the semi truck consented to post-crash blood draw. Although alcohol or drug intoxication is not believed to have been a factor in the crash, the incident will remain under investigation pending toxicology results on both operators.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the deceased after family notifications have been made.
