A recent change in law provides state funding for young Hoosiers who are ready for kindergarten, but miss the traditional Aug. 1 cutoff by a few days or weeks. If schools choose to accept students who turn 5 after Aug. 1, they will have the flexibility and resources to enroll children who turn 5 by Sept. 1 of this year, and Oct. 1 of next year.

Those who believe their children are ready to start pre-K and meet certain eligibility requirements can apply for On My Way Pre-K, the state’s early learning program that awards grants to 4-year-olds from low-income families. Eligible children must be 4 by Aug. 1 to attend pre-K. Click here to learn more.
