Man Arrested for Shooting into Occupied Residence – 17-06908

On Friday, March 31st E.P.D. Patrol officers responded to multiple reports of shots being fired near Washington Avenue and S. Evans Avenue. As officers were investigating, a witness informed them that a subject was on the side of the home in the 800 block of Washington Avenue during the time the shots were fired. A residence was struck with numerous rounds in the 800 block of Washington Avenue. The rear doorknob of the residence was completely shot off. At the time, shots were fired at the residence an adult female and five children were inside. During the time, the shooting was occurring they took shelter inside a closet. Korey Tremaine Johnson was located and arrested for numerous charges. The 9MM handgun Johnson used was also located. Johnson told officers he has lived in Evansville for three months. In that period, this is his third criminal firearm arrest. Johnson was charged with:

CT I Weapon – Possession of Firearm by Felon [L4]
CT II Criminal Recklessness – Shooting Firearm into Inhabited Dwelling [L5]
CT III Weapon Handgun Carry / W Prior Conviction [L5]
CT IV Residential Entry [L6]
CT V Criminal Mischief [BM]
CT VI Alcohol – Public Intoxication [BM]
