GAIL RIECKEN PROMISE TO CUT WASTEFUL SPENDING IF ELECTED MAYOR

During Monday night’s City Council meeting, Republican City Councilman Dan McGinn, a close advisor to Mayor Winnecke, discussed increasing the local income tax as a way of a fixing the city’s financial problem. This increase would bring the local income tax from 1% to 1.25% or a 25% increase.  This would raise an extra $4 million per year into the city’s coffers.

“City Councilman McGinn’s comment that we could raise the local income tax 25% to solve the city’s financial problem’s proves to me that the administration’s post-election surprise will be to raise income taxes 25% instead of making the cuts that are needed.” said Riecken.  “This tax increase would only add a pittance to the deficit in the General Fund.  We need real changes in how Mayor Winnecke and his administration spends money.  Over the last 4 years, the current administration has continued to increase spending, without regard for the city’s cash flow.

This over-spending has caused the current cash flow crisis that has placed at risk the city’s ability to make its payroll.  Rather than increasing taxes, the city needs to cut wasteful spending and improve efficiency.  Many city residents feel overburdened with the cost of living in Evansville now, this increase would only add to that burden.”

Gail Riecken is running for Mayor of Evansville and is a former Evansville City Council-woman, Evansville Parks Director, and a current member of the Indiana State House of Representatives.  She is a lifelong Evansville resident, has been married for 47 years, and has 2 children and 3 grandchildren.

    • His boots are afoul, aye? Good analogy Lime. Heck anyone treading the streets in the old Evansville downtown CSO district might prose the same problem, however the mammalian source is most likely scored differently. Eww.

  1. Butterfly McGinn’s proposal would only give a Winnecke administration more money to move around. Another ball in the air for them to juggle, some of that pelf falling into the coffers of favored cronies, some to conmen with a 25¢ spiel. Some to who knows where? Maybe it should pass, we wouldn’t want those slicksters to get stiff wrists and elbows.

  2. LITTLE “Boy” Lloyd takes a walk down bonded debt lane with “string”in hand with his pull toy (McGinn) close behind banging the cymbals for more money to spend. What a Republican Circus with–Winnecke as “ringmaster” this Administration presents.

    • What is so interesting? The Republicans on County Council are loving this because they would also receive more play money. THE VOTERS BETTER BE Wakeing up UP SOON. . .

  3. I have a better idea Dan:The city should drop healthcare insurance for spouses of city employees who can get healthcare where they work. Do that first, and you will not need to raise income taxes.

  4. Well, Well, Well. I just learned from last evenings meeting at the FOP that Weaver the Wessel has publicly announce that he will be joining in with the Republicans to increase our taxes by 25%. What does DINO means,Democrat in Name Only?

Obviously, there is NO SPENDING PLAN only REVENUE ENHANCEMEN.This code for the taxpayers to bend over and touch your toes.

BTW, has anybody heard about Weaver’s bad behavior and unacceptable conduct at BOGGY NIGHTS NIGHT CLUB last Sat. night? I hear that he was ousted out the Dance Club. His comment when he was shown the door,”you do not know who you are messing with”

  5. Mr. Dan McGinn,
If you want to really help out…WHY DON’T YOU RESIGN?!

I’m sure that you’re an educated man. However, ASKING THE TAXPAYERS TO THROW MORE MONEY IN TO THE EVANSVILLE RABBIT HOLE IS THE FARTHEST REACH OF STUPIDITY ANYONE COULD EVER GO FOR!!!

  6. McGinn was the cat who said that Homeowners should pay for any upgrades needed to their home plumbing to accommodate the Johnson Controls wireless meters . . and now he also wants us to pony up 25% more COIT ?

McGinn has been sniffing too much grey poupon mustard in the back seat of his Bentley, driven by his chauffeur Jeeves whilst driving through downtown in search of the TIF Funds . . . .

  7. It would be great if Butterfly McGinn and Little Lord Lloyd took a flit around the city and saw how many Evansvillians are struggling to hold on to what they have. Reminder, gentlemen, the City is older and poorer than the average in this state. We need the basics, not bike paths, restaurant give-aways, and dog parks.

  8. Just out of curiosity… How much has spending gone up under Winnecke? In other words, what were the city’s expenditures in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014? Asking for a friend.
