Local Businessman Announces Candidacy for County Commissioner

Evansville, IN – Local businessman Robert Myers has officially announced he is running as a Republican candidate for Vanderburgh Co. Commissioner – District 1. While his campaign has been in development for several months, he filed his application paperwork on Monday May23rd. He will oppose Sean Selby in the Republican caucus on Thursday to determine who will face Democrat Ben Shoulders in the general election.

“I am extremely excited and proud to be running for County Commissioner in District 1,” said Myers, “and I have been overwhelmed by the support that has been offered by the Vanderburgh Co. Republican Party, precinct committee members, friends and family.”

“Robert Myers will make an excellent candidate for County Commissioner,” added Dale McCuiston – former Republican county commissioner candidate who dropped out of the primary race due to health concerns. “His passion, forward thinking and ability to work well with others will make him a positive force as a fulltime commissioner. “

Myers ran an impressive campaign last fall as an independent candidate for Evansville City Council – at Large. Though obtaining thousands of votes, the run fell short. After a great deal of thought and soulsearching, he decided to join the Republican Party and run for County Commissioner in 2016.

“I really am passionate about making a difference in the community and being a leader,” stated Myers, “and running as a Republican is a perfect fit for my fiscally conservative values. It allows me to help others through public service. At the end of the day, I identify with the
Vanderburgh County Republican Party affiliation and their policies for fiscal responsibility. “

Myers, 43, has been a successful local businessman for several years now – after relocating to Evansville from Green Bay, WI. He is currently a “Major Accounts Executive – Enterprise” for Time WarnerBusiness Class , with an area of expertise in IT infrastructure and Telecommunications solutions. He and his fiancée Tina, live on Evansville’s East Side and really enjoy living in Evansville – it’s home.

  1. Wayne Parke already has him trained to be shady. He is now claiming he was an independent candidate last year instead of libertarian. Also fails to mention he is currently the treasurer of the lp, and was told by Wayne Parke that he should continue doing that even as a republican candidate.

    • The guy doesn’t need to be trained to be shady as he is definitely shady. He will get beat very badly by Ben in the race. He is not smart enough to know when not to run. He has no chance in this race but is probably planning to run as a Republican in the City Council race in three years.

    • It sounds to me like the Libertarians need a new treasurer. I wouldn’t trust a liar like this guy with money. Since when is does being employed by a gigantic employer make someone a “businessman”. Wayne Pork and Lloyd Finnicky just wanted some cheap cannon-fodder for Silver Spoon Shoulders to beat badly. Silver Spoon is probably more Republican than Myers.

      • They do need a new treasurer because Mr. Myers resigned on May 12th. I know Mr. Myers very well and he is not a liar. He was with the Republican Party since high school. It’s not uncommon to become affilated with a different party with all the division that has been going on. Telecommunications is a business by the way.

  2. People should get their facts straight before bashing others. Mr. Myers resigned as Treasurer of the Libertarian Party on May 12th. I guess it makes some people feel better about themselves to put other people down.
